    Beastmaster Equipment - Suggestions Needed

    I have been trying to improve my Beastmaster as much as I possibly can, so I am looking for some ideas for new equipment from other BST out there!

    Current Gear

    Charm Gear:

    Light Staff
    Bugard Strap+1
    Panther's Mask
    Star Necklace
    Melody Earring +1
    Melody Earring +1
    Gaudy Harness
    Trainer's Gloves
    Angel Ring
    Angel Ring
    Corset +1
    Beast Trousers
    Beast Gaiters +1

    Charm Items I am working on getting:
    Imperial Egg
    Apollo's Staff (hasn't been one on the AH for a while)

    Fighting Gear:
    Woodville Axe
    Tatami Shield (Maneater if /nin)
    Wivre Mask
    Chiv. Chain
    Storm Loop
    Brutal Earring
    Hauberk
    Siphai Dastanas
    Rajas Ring
    Ecphoria Ring
    Amemet Mantle +1
    Potent Belt
    Herder's Subligar
    Khimaira Gamashes

    Fighting Gear I'm looking to get:
    Orge's Gloves +1 (If they ever show up on the AH)
    Monster Belt (waiting for it to drop)
    Skadi's Feet
    Skadi's Hands (way in the future, so I need something between now and then).

    I don't really do EQ switches for weapon skills, honestly, other then to switch my Herder's Subligar for my Exorcist Hose. Looking for some good ideas for fighting gear because this is my first melee job to 75, and any improvements that can be had for my charm gear. Looking more for making sure charm lands then +charm (duration) on the charm gear.

    More Info: I /whm more then /nin. I don't do merit parties really (lol, people don't want BST in their merit parties) so I am soloing 90% of the time. My chances of ever getting gear from any HNM or Sky is zero to none unfortunately, though I am working on it. (Chances of stuff going to a BST: slim to none as well -.-)

    Thanks guys!

    Osode (charming)
    Dusk Gloves
    Aurum Boots

    Drop Herder's Subligar, I don't think it's worth it, at that level.

    Pallas Shield
    Askar Legs
    That other axe from ZNM which boosts Pet DEF

    PCC
    E.Body
    Byakko Pants
    Walalala Turban
    Swift Belt

    Can I get some reasons why on these things? Keep in mind I don't do merit parties - I solo on BST. The Herder's Subligar is something I am testing for the moment - so far it really does improve pet accuracy, specially on things like NM.

    I really should add this to the top of the post: I'm most likely not going to be able to get HNM/Sky gear. Osade, Kitty Pants, and Adaman Hauberk on the list of 'Stuff I will probably never get but damn I want'.

    You have a lot of +Pet Def. in that list, stuff I haven't even touched yet. Do you really think it makes a big bonus for your pet? (I'm assuming you're a BST too).

    Why the haste gear so much? I'm /whm more then /nin at the moment. Is the +haste more for /nin?

    I like the Aurum Sabatons suggestion. The +dex and +haste is a good bonus over the Khimera Gamashes.

    Why the dusk gloves? When soloing I tend to need to be able to run around, so having the -movement is dangerous... just because of the extra haste, maybe?

    The haste gear is to get you TP faster so you can WS more often, though it won't hurt to have lowered utsusemi recasts.
    On that note, you might think about a Temperance Axe for your offhand when you do /nin.
    If you're serious about meleeing you should consider getting into switching equipment for your WS, as it can make a huge difference to your damage.
    You can macro your dusk gear out when you need to run around, so unless you're in a very dangerous situation it's better to have it on.
    I've never tried Pet DEF gear myself; however, ask yourself how often you need your pet to take slightly less damage per hit more than you need to boost your own melee.

    One big problem is that I'm running out of space for BST in inventory. I'm sitting roughly 60/70 every time, trying to leave a little room for drops while out soloing... so having a buncha gear to macro in for WS would kill that small bit of room that fills up really fast. Chances of getting a temperance axe: 0.

    Walhara Turban, Swift Belt I could do. I have the first, I could work more on getting the second. But I would be losing the +acc, which would kinda suck. BST aren't entirely known for having the greatest ACC ever. XD I use Tuna Sushi when I'm out there for the +chr and +acc mix.

    I'm still super hesitant on the Dusk Gloves. That -move always makes me nervous. I've never seen any BST with them on, now that I think about it. I'll ask around to some of the ones I know.

    Any other good +haste gear (..don't mention kitty pants. XD)

    Im just going to list my gear sets and you can take it from there.

    Normal Charm Gear:
    input /equip Main "Apollo's Staff";
    input /equip Sub "Bugard Strap +1";
    input /equip Range "";
    input /equip Ammo "Imperial Egg";
    input /equip Ear1 "Melody Earring +1";
    input /equip L.Ring "Light Ring";
    input /equip Head "Monster Helm";
    input /equip Neck "Temperance Torque";
    input /equip Body "Monster Jackcoat";
    input /equip Hands "Monster Gloves +1";
    input /equip Back "Amemet Mantle +1";
    input /equip Waist "Monster Belt";
    input /equip Legs "Beast Trousers +1";
    input /equip Feet "Monster Gaiters";
    input /equip R.Ring "Omega Ring";
    input /equip Ear2 "Delta Earring";

    CHR Gear: (I switch to this if it's a really tough mob, or I fail a charm.)
    input /equip Main "Apollo's Staff";
    input /equip Sub "Bugard Strap +1";
    input /equip Range "";
    input /equip Ammo "Imperial Egg";
    input /equip Ear1 "Melody Earring +1";
    input /equip Head "Monster Helm";
    input /equip Neck "Temperance Torque";
    input /equip L.Ring "Light Ring";
    input /equip Body "Kirin's Osode";
    input /equip Hands "Trainer's Gloves";
    input /equip Back "Amemet Mantle +1";
    input /equip Waist "Monster Belt";
    input /equip Legs "Beast Trousers +1";
    input /equip Feet "Savage Gaiters";
    input /equip Ear2 "Delta Earring";
    input /equip R.Ring "Omega Ring";

    Now those are BST specific gear sets. When I was leveling BST I didnt really have a good melee set, so I just got whateever. But after leveling WAR I now have a much better DD set as BST/WAR gear are fairly similiar.

    TP Gear: (Use ACC gear when meleeing, dont worry about damage.)
    input /equip Head "Walahra Turban";
    input /equip Neck "Chivalrous Chain";
    input /equip L.Ring "Woodsman Ring";
    input /equip Ear1 "Assault Earring";
    input /equip R.Ring "Woodsman Ring";
    input /equip Ear2 "Coral Earring";
    input /equip Body "Hauberk";
    input /equip Hands "Dusk Gloves";
    input /equip Back "Amemet Mantle +1";
    input /equip Waist "Potent Belt";
    input /equip Legs "Byakko's Haidate";
    input /equip Feet "Aurum Sabatons";

    If you feel the need to WS you can toss some STR/ATK stuff in there, but still mostly worry about ACC.

    I havent DDd on BST for a long time, but my WAR WS set is:
    input /equip L.Ring "Ruby Ring";
    input /equip Head "Sipahi Turban";
    input /equip Body "Kirin's Osode"
    input /equip Hands "Hecatomb Mittens";
    input /equip waist "Warwolf Belt"
    input /equip R.Ring "Ruby Ring";
    input /equip Feet "Hecatomb Leggings";

    BST has some odd DD stuff like you mentioned, the Ogre stuff, which can be good depending on the situation, but just have to play with stuff.

    Didnt see if you mentioned it, but go to sea and leech a Temp Axe, it's glorious, and they always drop to the floor, also shoot for some Trousers +1 if you can, theyre great.

    Im still after some AF2+1, and I use a Tat shield as well, jug pet just depends.

    Any questions just ask.

    Thank you for posting those macros. It helps a lot to see it.

    So, questions!

    Why the following charm gear:
    Monster Jacketcoat, Gloves+1, and Gaiters? They don't have land charm, just +duration which I don't really have any problems with atm.

    Omega Ring over Angel Ring - Why?

    Unfortunately you have access to a lot of gear I don't - Einhinjar, Sea, and Sky. Working on the sky stuff, but I'm only in a small LS.

    Starting to get some good ideas to change, though. Like the Aurum Sabatons, upgrade to 2x Light Rings, melee in Turban instead of Wivre Mask, get a swift belt.

    really 0 chance at temperance axe? of course i don't know the situation on your server or with you & shells farming sea but that seems to be one of the most passed/dropped items in there. i'm guessing you could just ask a buddy in a shell that farms sea and you'd have it given to you (who knows though maybe not). i only have mage jobs leveled and i got one last night simply because the entire alliance passed it or already had it.

    Is the temperance axe really worth getting? Very curious about it now. It's an off-hand weapon (I'd highly assume)... it could work well. I'll poke around my friends to see if anyone does sea.

    I dont worry about focusing on CHR over Charm (Charm+ > CHR) because most the things youll end up charming at 75 is easy anough as it is, and youll want to keep that pet for a longer amount of time.

    Now obviously if I need to be 100% sure I charm the mob im going after, or it's a tough mob in general, I switch to my CHR > Charm+ set.

    But again, it's something you have to figure out for yourself after charming different types of mobs, at different lvls, at different places, in different situations, etc.

    As far as Omega goes, I dont play BST a whole bunch as I once did, or atleast enough to figure out my own theories, but supposedly it was proven that M.Acc helps with Charm.

    Temp/Tatami, or Maneater/Temp (Man/Shield or Wood/Man is fine otherwise)
    I like Man main vs Wood for BST, but use Juggy if you can get one. Man has hidden ACC and the hidden DMG brings it close to Wood that it wont really make a huge diff for solo bst.

    about axes:
    the temperance axe is very worth it for bst. chr+5, and with virtue stones equipped it swings multiple times around 50% of the time (like joyeuse). only downside here is you cant use bibiki seashell in ammo slot that way.
    wood/man is just great. used that for years. solid combo. the only reason to ever put maneater in your main hand and woody in your offhand when /nin is when you want to do LESS damage on your weaponskills. (ie, dont do it)
    i actually took the time to unlock the Retributor. nice axe for free there, but it's no maneater.
    i also played with the martial axe for a while. kinda fun.
    same with juggernaut. although terribly expensive unless you plan on going all-out. it kinda makes you pull hate though, which is bad in solo play, but good in merit parties ("holy shit, the bst pulled hate?!")

    dont forget to get trousers+1. IMO the trousers+1 are the best piece to upgrade first. STR+6 for WS is very very nice.

    don't drop the herders subligar though. those would be KILLER for any time when you have to stand back and let your pet do all the work. they would also be great in those situations where you are pulling too much hate and need your pet to hit just a little bit more often to take hate off you.

    i use dusk gloves on my bst. but i DO have a macro i can press quickly to take them the hell off.

    if you can get a temp axe, see if you can get a temp torque. if you cant, then see if you can afford a PCC. either one is better than the chiv chain.

    my charm gear is as follows:

    input /equip head "Bst. Helm +1"
    input /equip L.ear "Melody Earring +1"
    input /equip body "Kirin's Osode"
    input /equip hands "Bst. Gloves +1"
    input /equip legs "Bst. Trousers +1"
    input /equip feet "Bst. Gaiters +1"
    input /equip neck "Temp. Torque"
    input /equip back "Amemet Mantle +1"
    input /equip waist "Corsette +1"
    input /equip R.ear "Melody Earring +1"

    i dont have rings anymore. they take up too much inventory and i already have a buttload of CHR. i dont usually need 8-10 more. i dont even usually carry the earrings with me. also i (of course) macro in an Apollo's Staff when i need it. i dont always want to dump my TP though, so its on a separate macro. i don't have a Monster Belt yet.

    fight gear:

    input /equip L.ring "Ulthalam's Ring"
    input /equip head "Askar Zucchetto"
    input /equip body "Haubergeon"
    input /equip hands "Dusk Gloves"
    input /equip legs "Byakko's Haidate"
    input /equip feet "Adaman Sollerets"
    input /equip neck "Temp. Torque"
    input /equip back "Amemet Mantle +1"
    input /equip waist "Swift Belt"
    input /equip L.ear "Assault Earring"
    input /equip R.ear "Brutal Earring"
    input /equip R.ring "Rajas Ring"

    i used to use snipers, but i sold them (needed the cash). when i'm /nin i use suppa instead of assault earring. if i had Aurum Sabatons i'd use those too, they are great. i also have 8 axe merits so my accuracy isnt too bad at all. and 4 crit merits and 5 str merits.

    my rampage gear changes from that are:

    input /equip hands "Hecatomb Mittens"
    input /equip legs "Bst. Trousers +1"
    input /equip feet "Hct. Leggings"
    input /equip neck "Soil Gorget"
    input /equip waist "Warwolf Belt"
    input /equip L.ring "Flame Ring"

    primal rend gear is the same as charm, except for Moldavite Earring on left ear.

    A lot of very good suggestions; I would just emphasize getting an Apollo's. If you could only go out into the wild with two pieces of gear, an Apollo's and a Gaudy Harness would get you through. Check bazaars. Camp the AH. gl

    That you everyone for your suggestions. I have a lot to go through, and I'm really going to work hard on talking to my friends in sea shells to get a Temperance Axe. I can go on my BLM to help them out in exchange for it.

    So far the changes I am going to make:

    Aurum Sabatons
    Upgrade my BST Trousers to +1 (already have the +1 items saved up)
    Get the final organs for my soil gorget
    Get Dusk Gloves and a Swift Belt
    Get the Panther+1 for the haste+chr
    Work on getting the Askar Zucchetto... that'll be tough though.

    Keeping the Herder's Subligar (I'm already loving it... took me solid three days of chest-hunting to get it. @_@)

    Any suggestions on the best for a pants item until I can (if I ever manage to) get Byakko's Haidate? (I'm in a sky ls, we're working on it... I'm in the running for it.)

    Dont bring your BLM, Temp is immune to direct magic dmg

    Ehh.. normally melee use Barone Cosciales, but since youre on BST, and dont want that extra Enmity, might try for Thick Breeches. If you have access to Askar, that would be even better, or Aurum is another alternative to thick if you do ZNM.

    Barone is WAR and DRG only.

    Barring Haidate, of those 4 choices you listed for TP it's basically like (added a few others):

    Barbarossa's Zerehs > Askar~Aurum > Dusk (higher if capped acc) > RK Breeches > Thick

    Shows exactly how much I've done with Sea gods! XD Done Limbus inside and out, farmed all over the place, but the only god I've done is Fortitude. (Still no damn torque).

    I thought Soil Gorget only worked on Single hit things (or at least only 1 hit of Rampage)?

    I am missing a few things for my BST... but so far I am pretty happy with what I have..
    +1's are not really in my wallet atm..

    Charm gear
    Apollo's
    This is just xp mobs.. seriously.. why people carry around 16 slots of CHR or Charm + Gear for xp is beyond me.. never needed it for xp pets.. NM solo gear has a couple charm + things in it, plus some -enimity junk.. Slimes are about +22 CHR + Apollo's.

    LOL I will get an xp invite one day? (Shitbox WAR's in the gimp thread get more invites than I ever will)

    (xp set)
    Maneater Axe
    Tatami Shield (Woody if /nin)
    Walmart Turbin (would love askar.. but dont really have time to do nyzul)
    Temperance Torque
    Spike Earing (Suppa if /nin) havent finished Apoc nigh maybe etheral.. maybe Diablos?
    Brutal Earring
    Hauberk
    Dusk Gloves
    Sniper
    Sniper
    Amemet Mantle +1 would like to upgrade to Forgers / Cerb
    Swift Belt
    Kitty Pants
    Dusk Feet.. A Sabotons would be nice.. but again I dont have time

    WS Set (things I swap)
    E Head (I like the ACC + attack)
    Ogre Gloves
    +4 Str Rings
    +4 Str Rings
    Life Belt
    BST Trousers +1
    Rutter's

    The .1 to the modifier only works on the first hit. The accuracy bonus applies to all hits.

    Maneater Axe
    Tatami Shield (Woody if /nin)
    Consider IR Pick offhand instead. Slightly better DPS, and dirt cheap. Also odd that you have a Temperance Torque...but not axe?

    Also may want to reconsider the Ogre hands on WS...-dex on Rampage n' all that.

    I have the axe, but don't do Sea anymore since I am not doing HNM atm either. So out of tradeable organs.

    Hmm on that IR Pick. I like the lower delay too...

    What would you choose for hands instead of Ogre?
