That reminds me of the time I was leveling the woodworking sub on my boyfriend's character. I needed to make some chocobo fletchings for whatever arrow synth I was doing to skill up. His clothcraft was level 2 at the time, which is the cap for chocobo fletchings. I HQed the first synth I did. What a waste of a tier 0 synth.

When the Hide is about twice as expensive as the Mantle, it's actually a pretty profitable desynth. Hard to get the exact numbers, but you'll get a Hide somewhere around 60% of the time.

Unfortunately, those market conditions don't last too long because eventually the crafters making Mantles see other leathercrafters buying a dozen of them at a time, figure out what's happening, and switch to the faster and surer desynth market. The market quickly shifts back. I personally only got to desynth 4 of my own (Yielding 3 Hides, two of which I sold and one of which I turned into a +1) before it started making more sense to switch back.

I desynthed a cerb mantle for a friend, got their hide back, so figured I'd try the same next time I synthed.

Nq'd 4 mantles, tried to desynth, 4x lost the mantle..

...I hate deysnthing
