Let RNGs cast Utsusemi while shooting.
Let RNGs cast Utsusemi while shooting.
Give us one staff, one obi, one grip, and one gorget. I don't care how hard they are to get, just add them.
Oh yeah, making a BB style item for different jobs is something that always should have been in game. Such an insane item and no other job gets one? Come on.
btw, phraust is now winning the most retardedly powerful ideas post (except drk, who gets a laughable ability)
Phalanx II is always better than Phalanx.Originally Posted by FFXI
Uh, no, it isn't.
Phalanx is (Enhancing / 10) - 2
Phalanx II is [(Enhancing / 25) + 1 + (3 x MeritLv)]
Or you can use the handy-dandy calculator here FFXI Enhancing Calculator
With 300 Enhancing skill (low end of the highest tier attainable outside of enhancing merits, usually 301 due to gear), with Phalanx II simply unlocked, you get 28 damage protection from Phalanx, and 16 from Phalanx II. On top of that, Phalanx II only lasts for two minutes for twice the MP (42 versus 21).
You add 3 damage protection to Phalanx II, and 30 seconds of duration, per level. So 19, 22, 25, and finally the same 28 damage reduced. Duration is inferior until level 3.
Now, without a full Enhancing set Phalanx II will hit better numbers sooner...at level 5. From 256-289 Enhancing skill, Phalanx II is better than Phalanx, at 290-309, they're equal, 310+ Phalanx pulls ahead. Though, of course, Phalanx II does have the duration.
Woah... Square-Enix is retarded. I assumed the merits added to Phalanx's base damage reduction.
I'd like to see graphical improvements to FFXI, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'd like to see 1h damage rebalanced, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'd like to see NIN in general fixed because it's an incredibly fun job that has been marginalized in all roles, but I'm not holding my breath.
I'd like to see pet AI in general fixed, but I might as well wish for world peace by the end of the week.
I'd like to see more content with neat gimmicks that make the encounters fun. Not talking bullshit like PW/AV, more like strategies or mob behavior that makes players do things other than insert stabbity A into internet dragon B and repeat ad nauseam. It's been done well in other MMOs and even a few times in FFXI with mixed results (things like JTemp or Salvage NM pop conditions). Do it more often.
Oh, and as a final pipe dream... stop making HNMs and other endgame mobs that are just utterly immune to the bulk of enfeebling magic. RDM would be so much more fun to play if more of the spell list was useful more often (this also applies to BLM, I think - make more of their spells more useful too!).
So Square-Enix is retarded because you supposedly assumed wrong?Merits do add to the base damage reduction, 3 points of damage per level as well as 30 seconds to duration as Isiolia stated. The part of the formula that takes enhancing skill into account is different though, otherwise Phalanx II would be broken.
After you spend 220,000 XP on it, it kinda should be.
Overwhelm is broken, Feint is broken, why can't Phalanx II be?
PW is a pretty fun fight isn't it?
Would be nice >.>
The real slap in the face comes when you realize that a SCH can do nearly the same as Phalanx II, AoE, without meriting a thing. Making the one actually "new" capability added to RDM since NA release a bit less special (all other Tier IIs are just a better version of a spell we already had, regardless of how good they may be).
In line with the thread, IMO, if I could time travel...I would have prevented DNC and SCH from ever becoming stand-alone jobs. The newer thinking that fueled their design coulda/shoulda been spread out among existing jobs to refresh them, instead of step on their toes (at least with SCH).
I love /DNC, I plan to level DNC main next, but I still would say extending the "less than 100% TP used, use TP for things other than damage" type mentality would have been more interesting spread across multiple (or all) jobs.
It should still be adjusted to at least match the same cap as Phalanx. Making the higher tier spell less potent is kind of dumb.
But you can't melee while casting... The visual that you see is just a timing issue, they're not actually swinging during the actual cast time.
Also agreed about the 3 king BB like items for all classes. The only classes I can think of that have anything "close" to that is BLM and WHM with their spell quests (DRK and RDM by default of shared spells). Even then, these aren't boss related drops that provide an insanely overpowered piece of equipment. Knowing SE, they'll change BB to a MNK/NIN/SAM piece and then realize it was too powerful and make it 2% haste, 2 STR, and 2 DEX and say "There, have funLOL"
I would like to see them take out the assault tag requirements for nyzul isle. I understand that half of their game design revolves around making things take forever so that they can get their monthly dues longer... but still. It just seems so bullshitty at this point.
- add ground king drops to KS99 already. waiting for 3 hours only to have some botter claim for the 4th time in a row is just absurd.
- make ALL armor sets storable. seriously, wtf.
- add that 'dummy' thing from WoW so we don't have to rely on 3rd party tools to parse our gear setups
but we all know what SE's reposnse to any of these will be: "PS2 limitations! Mwahahahaha!!!!"
I know this has been a subject beaten to death, but I'd really be thrilled if SE made ground kings poppable like sky gods and sea jailers. And if they throw in an 8-10% chance for a HQ to spawn as well, I think that would satisfy players, both in hardcore HNM LSes and other LSes who don't have the time or schedule to camp kings as they spawn now. Scatter the pop items in various places like Monastic Cavern, KRT, Den of Rancor, etc or places most people don't really venture into much these days. Just my two cents.
I'd like to see a decrease in the amount of Rare/Ex drops. With RMT mostly under control, why not make more things farmable? Instead of letting abjurations, Nyzul pieces, and other random crap rot, why not let the groups sell them on the AH? It means more money for LS's, and less dependence on your LS to get things. It also comes closer to making rewards commensurate with effort.
To that end, why not make more money drop from 'hard' monsters, or have their drops NPC for more money? Would it break the game if Tiamat dropped 100k for everyone in the alliance? But lol at everyone not in at the time of the kill. Still, you know what I'm saying. Figure out ways to make it easier for endgame groups to make money.
PS- why the fuck can I buy an Osode in a bazaar, but not a haidate? Who's brilliant idea was that?
