It already happened didn't it when Sandworm, Ixion, & the stronghold NM's came. More is coming I'd guess, but they gotta be careful

True, but I was more referring to older stuff, especially with regard to earlier comments about how none of the old king stuff is truly game-breaking (see Zenith set).
WoW does it too, with their own version of rare/ex. I guess I just don't understand why that makes it into a game to begin with.
Another idea:
I've always hoped SE would build on the "Return" campaign by allowing re-activated characters to transfer equipment. Upon re-activation, you could pay an additional fee to have your gear become transferable. I appreciate that this is a slippery slope toward RMT, as you could 'buy' accounts from retired players to get the gear. But SE isn't making any money on these accounts anymore anyway, and don't we all have friends or LS members who have quit and taken awesome shit with them?
I'm a grown ass man with a full time job, and you better believe I'd pay SE $50 to legally get the gear of my friend's account, especially considering I helped him get most of it. I think it would ease the conscious of a lot of people who quit, too.
Hard to say this because WoW you can only play one job at a time and gear progresses evenly so you are not carrying around 2-3 sets (TP/WS/Enfeeb/Nuke/hMP/etc) but only using..WoW does it too, with their own version of rare/ex. I guess I just don't understand why that makes it into a game to begin with.
Yes. Yes it would because you are assuming 100k for 18 people. That is 1.8mil in to the game every time Tiamat dies. 7.2mil per month assuming a once a week pop schedule. 10k, ok. 100k, too much.To that end, why not make more money drop from 'hard' monsters, or have their drops NPC for more money? Would it break the game if Tiamat dropped 100k for everyone in the alliance?
Is that that much more than gets introduced with FoV? Considering that's, what, 500-1000 gil per completed page, and you can do it every hour? I have no idea to guess how many people are doing FoV, but the numbers don't seem way out of line.
7.2m gil (from your example) is 240,000g per day (assuming 30 day month)
If FoV nets 800g, that's 300 FoV pages, total, on the server per day. Doesn't seem impossible.
Granted, I was talking about doing this for lots of mobs, not just Tiamat. So that's quite a bit more gil. Alternate idea: how about granting a shitload of xp, too? 10k? Why the hell not?
if you have to buy Haidate from Bazaar the chance is high you didnt deserve one in the first place...
Seeing that Haidate is one of the most broken items from sky i totaly agree it shouldnt be sellable.
Also most of the RMTs disapaered because most of the money drops are now ex/rare and its not much harder to make money than back in the days
And again; adding lucrative drops (such as 100k a person) to an NM that spawns every 3-5 days is not a good way to make a game.
Each part of end game should be *accessible* to every person at 75 without ludicrous time playing. Whether or not every person should be able to beat every section of the game, that's different (what we might call 'difficulty').
Reduce the time between resting tics to 5 seconds, and eliminate the stupid double tic before you get anything at the start.
Fix cure lock, and getting locked in place by JA, it's annoying they lied about fixing cure lock.
Make MAB and MDB traits give increases in like with those of normal attack/def/eva traits.
Delete SCH and give Dark Arts +Sublimation to BLM, and Light Arts to WHM.
Curses, I've been outed! You've foiled my attempt to get a piece of gear I don't 'deserve' through your clever detective work. You shrewd little bastard!
Hyan, that's a good point about getting rid of farming at the same time as FoV was implemented. But I didn't see that as a counterbalance to FoV as much as something SE has been working toward for a while- elimination of things you can repeat ad nauseum to make money and possibly RMT (see: fishing fatigue, higher level restrictions on quests, etc). Since Tiamat and other spawns we're talking about can't be repeated 24/7, SE could pretty easily control the flow of gil. It's just an idea.
If you're so bent out of shape about it, you could try synthing some of those sour grapes you've apparently been farming.
Oh, here's an idea. Make everyone pass an IQ test with a score of at least 110 before registering.
MAB and MDB are not equatable to attack/defense at all. If DRK's attack bonuses gave +32% damage instead of +48 attack... well yeah...
This is why I love these threads. People want shit changed that they don't understand at all. It's like an episode of Kids Say the Darndest Things.
Probably mentioned before
- High resolution textures
- No exp loss on death (implement some sort of res sickness)
- Faster patches FFS
- No 15 minute ??? respawns
Surprisingly alot of my other requests have already been implemented and I might sign back up. Not quite sure what my super sporadic / casual play schedule would mean though.
The issue is that you are locked out of casting during the entire shooting animation with a half second lag after completion of the RA. Your analogy is flawed, for it to be the same for a WAR, you'd have to make it so that you could not cast from the start of the GAXE swing to until 0.5 s after the swing. That is not the case, as WAR you can cast Utsusemi anytime, assuming recast timers are up; RNG cannot. But you can't melee while casting... The visual that you see is just a timing issue, they're not actually swinging during the actual cast time.
RAs in general are flawed in my opinion, for anyone who plays RNG and has done so in a laggy environment, you will sometimes get the interrupted message even though you never moved. If you try to RA again too fast, you get the message that you cannot repeat the process, but that message gives you a lock out or sorts. You can shoot faster by timing your /ra <t> hits well than you can by spamming /ra <t>. I don't understand this; I have no problems with the damage or accuracy, it is the mechanics of FFXI's ranged attacks that bother me.
Could be changed a bit, but then they might as well change FFXI in to WoW with less cartoony graphics. Change MAB in to spell attack and have it act more like melee attack stat that you need to pile up INT/MND/CHR and Magic Attack just like melee pile on STR/DEX/AGI and Attack.
However as I said, that starts to change the game far too much in a change towards being WoW.
I would improve FFXI by having a private server and having the ability to invite and boot people from it as I see fit.
You might as well hardcode a -10% spell cost reduction and 10% Fast Cast into respective color spells then, because that's all Light/Dark Arts is going to do for you. Your respective native stats are not going to go any higher, and there's no way you'd see the Strategem system.
As for the Phalanx argument: buff Phalanx 2. Shouldn't have to cap it out in order to beat Accession/Phalanx.
The entire current understanding of calculated magic damage would have to be scrapped. Elemental would now officially count towards both resistances and MAB. The MAB job trait itself would probably have to be retooled, even scaled back. Itemization would have to be overhauled. Mobs would have to be changed across the board.
We already pile on (Elemental/MACC)/INT for HNM, with MAB being a tertiary stat that influences damage after the fact. Now Elemental and MAB and dINT are all influencing our resistance rate? This change would make no sense.
I should have ended my previous statement with "And it totally wouldn't be worth the effort". My apologies. (No sarcasm)
I'd get rid of Neosutra, so he/she/it would hopefully move on and not have to whine and bitch in every topic that is worth reading.
