I hear it's pretty easy nowadays though? D: Not that FFXI isn't... :D
I'll post a few I've had in the back of my mind for a while now.
1.) Fix Guard to make it proc more like Shield
2.) Ninja merits seriously need to be fixed
- Keep Subtle Blow
- Elemental Ninjutsu effect
- Enfeebling Ninjutsu effect
- Utsusemi Recast - 1 second per level
- Give some sort of emnity spike ability, maybe make it meritable
- Give them Jubaku, Dokumori, and Monomi Ni. I also wouldn't mind seeing a Silence spell for them.
3.) Swap the DEX formula between 1 and 2 handers. There is no reason 2 hand weapons should hit harder and be more accurate than 1 hand weapons.
4.) BST needs some kind of damage boost in the worst way
- Change Killer Effects to act like Hasso instead of just intimidate. The base increase will be 5% Haste, 5 STR and 5 ACC with merits incresing each by 1 per level.
- Change Killer Instinct to grant the Killer Effects from the BST to party members, not the pet.
- Add Beastmen Killer trait, level 75
- Uncap all HQ jugs
- Add pet food that boosts stats like ACC, ATT, Def, etc
I got other things I'd like to see adjusted but don't feel like posting them now. The BST changes are probably overpowered but they definitely need something to put them on par with other DD's, right now they just can't compete.
i'd start by making the maps bigger and increasing movement speed meh....
There are a lot of good ideas here but a lot of shitty ones too.
There are waaaaaaaay too many ideas for people wanting to make this game more like wow and after playing wow for a good period of time I am GLAD that SE isn't jumping on the bandwagon and trying to be a clone of them, we have enough games thats basically a wow clone with a different coat of paint.
Some of the ideas like make AV and PW killable is stupid. One of the coolest things in this game was that there was still content people don't know how to beat where in wow EVERYTHING in the game is known, new dungeons are COMPLETELY cleared, explored, mapped out and the boss strats are typed up in a method which breaks it down to follow the steps, collect loot, move on.
WoW does a lot of great things but its killing itself trying too hard to appease the masses and becoming more friendly to casuals as a lot of the more hardcore players are just canceling their accounts including myself.
Well lets not get carried away here,...
Fix crafting...
Quit making items that make the in demand items obsolete (cop ring, toau ring) and make the HQ's better then them(vulcans ring anyone?)
Make some high level crafts that can sell to a NPC for profit to reward played for their hard work. If the economy is booming there will be better ways to make money, if its in a slump it will be something to resort to.
Introduce more items that fill unfilled niches for each craft, think dusk gloves fill a haste niche you can't get anywhere else, make a goldsmithing earring that has 1% haste, 2% hq ect.
Allow people with 100+3 crafts a quest line or something to get an item to assist HQ rate(like the ring) but make it hard to get.
Make more consumable synths for each craft since items dont bind and hence, lost forever it tends to flood the market with resales and make NQ synths and in some cases HQ synths next to no profit.
Make transportation a little smoother, the airships should be worth using not a massive waste of time.
Warp cudgels with a 5 minute cooldown not 24 hours.
Keep the 20 classes and even add more but go back and buff and rebalance the original classes. Think how much there is to do as a BLU or COR/DNC/SCH ect now compare them to a warrior? Use berserk/agresser and autoattack for 5 minutes? Give the other classes something to do much like the changes to SAM were awesome, give other classes a little more to do then stare at them autoattacking.
Give a little solo content adjusted to what job you play, like things designed to be tough for a BLM to solo but possible then maybe adjusted for a DRG or RNG ect but make it fun and tough.
Like someone said give us some lowman content thats 2-4 mannable but with decent rewards and something that lets top players compete against eachother for.
I can think of more but lets not make FFXI like wow with convience at every corner as you will get tired of it.
Would be nice if there were no drops in the game and more like assault points where you decide what you want. It sucks for a linkshell to get 30 KB and never get one ring then watch some new shell come and get 4 rings in a row. The whole random thing in this game needs fixing.
Quantify some currently hidden stats. Seeing our cumulative Atk and Def is nice, now how about Acc/Eva/RAcc/RAtk/MAtk/MDef/MAcc/MEva? And yes, all of them. Include a filter for people interested in only seeing a particular series of stats.
Undo the cumulative magic resistance patch.
Quantify Magic Critical Hits. No reason I should get resisted on a nuke and then still guess as to whether it critted.
In an effort to return value to Elemental magic variety, put greater emphasis on elemental correlation. Something to justify using the appropriate spell rather than just the highest tier available.
Acc/Eva caps and floors. Why can I only hope for 90% hit rate against a wall? Why should a level 1 monster ever be able to connect a hit on me?
Borrow a page from the Windower developers and start making major improvements to the interface. Better variation in status icons, inclusion of visible cast and duration timers, shadow counter(inset with Utsusemi/Blink/etc status icon), TP gauge, distance counter, exp/merit gauge.
Uncap connection speed/framerate, better utilization of PC graphics cards.
Going with the interface buffs:
Corsair - Display a visual when the player hits a lucky number, unlucky number or and XI preferably in the same fashion the numbers are shown above the characters head.
Yes, yes I know us Corsair know what the lucky numbers are but a nice visual of "LUCKY!", "UNLUCKY" or "JACKPOT" would help to tell your fellow party members where you stand.
Its not like it hasn't been done for Bust anyway.
Corsair - A little help with the more obscure rolls please? How on earth is a player supposed to figure out how much Spell Interruption comes with Choral Roll, how much magical accuracy comes with Warlock's Roll or how much Conserve MP is being given with Scholar's Roll? This kind of wonkyness needs to be addressed.
Ranger - Simple. When a player fires Barrage, state how many shots landed. Yes, i know you can tell how many hit using the menu and counting but a simple:
Sparthos uses Barrage!
4-hit!
The Ziz takes XXXX amount of damage.
...would be a great way of clearing up things.
The same idea would be workable for a magical critical.
Did i forget to mention my personal pet peeve?
Show effects of food items even if you have to trade it to an npc to find out.
It just makes no sense hiding all of the effects and all its done is kill variety in the game.

If they can't fix the botting thing, should just instance the world spawns and say fuck it. That's really my only gripe with the game. Would be cool to try to low man various HNMs.
I like this thread its full of cool shit SE will never do.
What I would really like to see is more of a way to make characters unique. My idea is release 3 new job abilities/job traits/spell for each job that cost 10 merits but you can only pick one of them.
Crafting does need a fix, especially with how easy some items that are easy to obtain are better. I think it's better to work them like NQ>COP/TOAU>HQ in that order. If you make the rings downright suck, then there would be no seemingly no reason to do the quests.Quit making items that make the in demand items obsolete (cop ring, toau ring) and make the HQ's better then them(vulcans ring anyone?)
Now I also believe there should be more quested armors that doesn't require stupid 18+ man raids (Limbus for example). Actually Nyzul is a great example. It's decent and acceptable gear that 6 people can do in a reasonable amount of time that doesn't require any crazy antics. Just go in, kill 5 floors. Done.
One thing, and probably the only thing, that could possibly fix the crafting system, would be to give weapons and armor "hp" in the sense that they could break in time, which would require a crafter to fix it. Kinda like it was in Diablo. This shouldnt be applied to HQ equips or rar/ex, for obvious reasons. But yea, the game is now too old to bother leveling a craft to 100, and adding new recipes does nothing to give "life" to crafting now. All it does is giving it a "breath of life" for about a couple weeks, the time it takes for all currently existing crafters to whore the new recipes until they become totally worthless like the rest.
By making weapons and armors "consumable", crafters would forever be needed.
But of course, thats only wishful thinking for a crafter like me <.< aint gonna happen.
