Issue with Free Trial Code Acquisition?

So I am trying to lure my friend into Vana'diel, and I have managed to get him to commit to at least trying the free trial. The only problem is that for the past day and a half, when he tries to get a US version registration code he is met with an error that says "Registration codes cannot be sent at this moment. Please wait and try again."

Well, we do wait, several hours between tries, and nothing is working.

Has there been a freeze on free trials and I just didn't realize it? Is it something I am doing wrong? I don't really know if anyone else has had any trouble, but it just seems strange that this is not working.

He accidentally went to the EU site and managed to get a code that way, but it obviously didn't work. So he found the US site, and then was bombarded with error messages.

let your friend get the code from another computer, might solve it since u only can get it once "and planet a cookie file in your system or somthing like that" in order to not get another code.

We figured it out. He had to create an alternate account on fileplanet and redownload the trial software.

It seems that the email you use for validating your fileplanet account gets cleared to receive a code when you're finished extracting the files to your computer. The funny thing was, when we contacted SE about it, they kept telling us that we should "wait it out until the system is fixed, if it is broken" and to "keep making new emails from different providers until you get it to work"

None of them (and we spoke to 4 different people) seemed to know the answer. Which I thought was funny. It kind of struck us in an epiphany after we got tired of trying.

Now he gets to experience the joy of the initial patch! 18k files to go!
