Logging out to reset hate is something that has been used for a long time. Sleep, Log, Live. I've also seen it used in some BCNMs and other fights, just not to the degree its been applied to in this case.

Personally, I think if SE are going to publish an article about PWs defeat, then it shouldn't be for a win which is paramount to the logging out trick. Like people have said, its obviously not as it was designed to be defeated.

With such a stupid move as Astral Flow x8 (or however many lamps there are) I can see why people would do it. I'd endorse my LS doing it if I lead an LS that had a shot at PW like Apathy, but I do share the Bloggers feelings when comparing it to the recent bannings for exploiting the game. SE will ban 450 people permanently for duping Salvage drops, but then publicly declares Apathys win as legitimate. I do find that slightly concerning, mainly because, in the future, how are we supposed to tell whats illicit behavour and what isn't?

How far can we push the rules?

How heavily did the strategy rely on cannonball ignoring double weakness?

It is indeed exploiting game mechanics, technically. But it's hardly worth this level of emo. That said, it seems the author is more perplexed about the issue of the discrepancies and inconsistencies in SE's policies when it comes to identifying what constitutes"abusing the game". The chronological juxtaposition is pretty funny - one week they're suspending/banning a thousand of their oldest customers for exploiting something, a few weeks down the line they're posting an official commendation on their website to forty other for defeating the second-hardest mob in the game using slightly shifty tactics.

But yeah, if none of this effects you in any way then why the hell would you send them a complaint?

a lot i would think, seeing how it did the same dmg all the time any blm or w/e would of been doing 0 dmg with death after death.

He said That is wasn't fair that way they won lol.
What isn't fair is the mob originally having 50,000,000,000 HP combined from all forms and lamps HP. 50mil is not an exaggeration. Fighting it for 18 hours, then having the suprise of the lamps repopping and having astral flow rape everyone.
What isn't fair is adding the pop items to the mythic weapon quests and having ppl get screwed on their final upgrade phase at a shot to die to PW.
What isn't fair is the crazy Time limit on this boss, and needing 40+ ppl very well geared in order to make the 2 hr limit.
What isn't fair is the rediculous ZNM tier IV trophy drop rate. If the trophy doesn't drop, you are looking at having to do 30+ ZNMs to get back up to those paths again to have a shot at another ATTEMPT at having the trophy drop for the Tier V.
What isn't fair is the fact that it takes 40 ppl and only drops 2 exclusive items... That is just screaming ninja lot all over it. that is just screaming steal, that is just screaming fuck you, I want this item, I will keep RRing and not log off.

To be honest, if a BLM casted meteor and chipped away 75% of PWs lifebar, then a speed hacking thf had perfect-perfect dodge, which can dodge magic too, then honestly I wouldn't give a shit.
This mob is dirty and nasty and completely broken and unfair with a shitty treasure pool NUMBER. I also enjoyed seeing those K-club drks dumb-found AV and he didn't know whether to scratch his ass and die, or to use Invincible.

Go try to get a pandemonium key yourself and tell me if you wanna play by the rules... tell me if you want to run out of time on the last form AFTER you already lost 50k exp and went from lvl 75 to lvl 73.

EDIT: And if they had the balls to do cannonball while double weakened, then congrats to them. Some of you losers are afraid to even fight in besieged while double weakened, and you dont even lose exp there. You know you are double weak, you know you can die 1 hit, you know you lose the SAME amount of exp whether you die unweak or die weak. Some people would have been to afraid and some would have quit cause of fear of delvling twice... those are the ppl who will never make it, cause they are quitters, cause they have fear.

Yeah but did they have a couple of BLU or a shitload? Because that's a lot shadier than /logout imo

I believe they had a BLU party, which would SA Cannonball, die, reraise, repeat. They did this on the final form while the rest of the alliance dealt with lamps, not every single form PW went through (I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong).

It was more a matter of Apathy not being geared well enough to beat it in the two hour time limit that *needing* BLU to take out the final form... they decided on a zombie tactic. Please, for the love of god, don't try and argue that zombie tactics are an exploit, or all those noob Sky LSs will be getting banned left and right for not being able to beat Suzaku.

And yes, I just said that Apathy isn't well geared enough to beat PW with a clear strategy that they know will work, within the time limit. They could have had a RDM Diaga-kite the lamps away instead of logging hate, but they didn't have the manpower and/or gear to deal with them in the alloted time, so they logged, losing 2 minutes. They didn't have the manpower and/or gear to deal with the last set of lamps and the final form, so they zombied it with BLUs until the rest of the alliance could get rid of the lamps.

Maybe if they had 20 more members waiting in the wings to replace downed players, or tossed a few more relics at it, the fight would have gone quicker, and they wouldn't have had to resort to using the tactics they did. What we do know is that their strategy *does* work, and *can* work... with another ten minutes on the clock, or 20, or 30, whatever, they would have beat PW without the 'shady' tactics.

So now this fight comes down to a race, more than a clusterfuck of death and destruction by Astral Flow. I'm sure if there hadn't been so many bannings recently, some other LS with a little more manpower and a few more duped Salvage sets would have defeated PW 'legitimately'.

Because their dollar bills look the same, yo.

But thanks for showing me this blog. It sets the bar outrageously high for whiny bitches everywhere! I can't wait to read more and wallow in the misery.

    @ Shyemue

How is using a job in the game as a primary source of damage shady in the least bit?
How is it shady to use 5 BLUs, or 18, or 37 RNGs?

I'm not saying these people need any repercussions, but that we all know that PW was not designed to be fought in this manner.

Edit: And P.S You forgot about kiting Genbu.
DRK KC involves nothing but game mechanics and planning, yet it was considered the incorrect to be AV. I think that alone proves even in game functions can be the "incorrect" way to beat a NM.

By now SE knows about logging for hate and if they were adamant about people not logging out, they would have implemented a mechanism to prevent logging out from affecting the battle.

    hmm

I can't see why this guy is so upset, if he was smart enough he would have thought this strategy up himself or maybe he can think of a better one? I doubt it. Anyway the only negative thing that comes from going about a fight like this is that is gives SE confirmation that PW is beatable and there is no reason to fix this mob, even if this was a lucky kill, even with all the preparation they had, even with all the relics/gears/titles whatever you want, I truly think this is a broken mob and since it has been officially beaten, even if there isnt a kill in the next 2 years, SE will keep referring back to this kill and never fix the second broken mob they made and claim is beatable. (without 5 blus zombing etc etc)
