I've been thinking about the whole age vs. loser level thing, and I am of the opinion that an older gamer is nothing to necessarily make fun of. There is a chance this douchebag was spending his time getting fucked up and doing bitches in his teens and twenties, perhaps also while wrecklessly wasting the opportunities for an education that would have promoted happiness in his adult life. It is my humble opinion that these are the activities kids ages 18-24 should truly be taking part in, while FFXI is better suited for adults who's lives have progressed into the unfortunate state of adulthood and responsibility... though it is hilarious that he seems to feel that people cheating in a video game is somehow a sign that society is collapsing. Blue mage " physical spells" dont do Magic damage like a BLM nuke. Cannonball is casted like a spell, but does damage like a weapon. If they change this, then no Melee should do damage when weakend.

I was told, perhaps wrongly so, that Cannonball was the only physical BLU spell that does full damage in double rez, hence my doubts.

Melee does like 10 damage when weakened...

And I'm not debating the "evils" of logging out during a boss fight. I'm just simply stating that when the boss was designed, logging out to shed hate was never on the drawing board.

Apart from that, the people that have a problem with Banning for Duping vs Logging Hate for PW, need to understand it was a huge Public Statement by SE to say to everyone: "Hay guys, that NM that took 18hrs and made people throw up, lose sleep, skip work/school, cause a public outcry, etc can be defeated now, lolz." If there wasn't so much controversy around it, SE wouldn't have even posted that update. Even so two people had already completed Mythics (although through duping), and it was never commented on.

These kind of people crawl out of the woodwork everytime a group of players do something "breakthrough". When Vrtra first died people bitched about that too and i imagine when AV finally "dies" that whatever means are used to defeat it will be put under the microscope by the armchair quarterbacks.

Ok I see what you mean, I didn't consider the double weakness factor when I was reading your first post, I went straight to the "who cares what or how many jobs they used?" mindset. I haven't really thought much about double weakness and it not affecting BLUs Cannonball, but it's certainly to Apathys credit that they picked up on this and utilized it.

Regardless, I think the blogger is an idiot, PW was killed without outright cheating and I'm happy as hell that Apathy got a win under their belt.

But people are always going to cry when someone does something that they personally have not been willing to put the time and effort into even attempting. This might sound a little out of place, but nothing worth having comes easy, and although I use that as a constant reminder in my life, I think that it applies to this game as well.

It seems like the people who sit around doing nothing and hence never complete a large portion of this games content are the ones who cry the loudest when other people actually work hard to accomplish something in-game, and that drives me crazy.

I recently had a discussion with a guy on my server who's LS is having a lot of trouble clearing any Einherjar zones, and I made the suggestion that they rotate BRDs in the main alliance to increase the DDs killspeed, hoping that it would be some good advice. The response I got was that they "don't want to bother with doing that, it's too much work". >.<
