That's the same fucking thing. -_-
Enforcing the spirit of the rules would immediately lead to changing game mechanics; you couldn't stop people from logging hate without retaining hate when logging. You can't expect GMs to be posted at every single HNM fight, or were you just limiting the scope to PW? Now that I think about it, I don't remember this being an issue until PW was killed. How interesting...no, wait, that other thing, stupid. Also, GJ identifying yourself as the group you're looking down on. You wouldn't suggest an alternative if you didn't believe logging hate was wrong, in which case the 'this is just arguing spirit v letter' post was just lip-service.
In my opinion, while it's very obvious SE intended us to fight every monster without having the log hate, their intentions are neither relevant or practical. Since it doesn't directly speed up the fight or change the way any particular job is played, and since it doesn't circumvent the normal limitations of the game, the question is mostly whether it's right or wrong. That's a useless argument. Even if it was 'wrong' (against the game's battle framework), that doesn't necessarily make it unacceptable (unfair), since it doesn't affect anyone other than your group. Even if it were 'right', that doesn't change the fact that most fights are usually fought all the way through, but it's not our fault SE forces us into this position.
