I noticed that too several months ago when I wanted to see what Vegeta sounded like in the JP version, and then I heard him say the word for 8. Definitely got a kick out of it =P

Episode with Goku and Vegeta doing Kamehameha vs Gallic-Ho was today and I it literally lasted 5 seconds. I remember it spanning like 2 episodes in original, when it ended after a few seconds I said out loud, 'holy shit!' Really liking the pacing, Vegeta is going to lose next episode and it's only episode 14.

I recommend watching DBZ abridged, it's probably tied with kai as the best thing to happen to DBZ.

Yeah I really hope this does end in 100 eps and follows the manga to make the fights shorter. I've finally had the time to read each manga of this and it really should have been like that. I mean the cell v ss2 gohan ended in a few mins and unlike the anime it ended in maybe 2 episodes?

Ive got the whole series recorded on VHS tapes off of Toonami lol. Still have them in a box, but I'm not too sure how well they still work.
Think I'm going to wait till they at least get to the frieza fights to pick this up.

Back in my youthful years, I ended up buying the whole series on VHS from the now late Suncoast Video. The reason you might ask? Simple, i wanted to see the giant picture the videos made when you put them side by side. Sadly i did watch every episode over time and Kai is just blowing through them so fast I'm not sure anymore where they are in the old version. I am truly grateful tho torrents are around this time, Free DBZ.

Yeah I used to collect the VHS tapes with part of a picture on the side. I still have the sets.

I started collecting them with gohan and the tournament before the majin buu saga started and stopped collecting them around the time I got the last 3 dvds so it's basically have complete on the last with half of vegeta kicking buu.

Not sure why that happened, but if you're using an up to date version of VLC Media Player and these subs, you should be fine. Good luck.

Just watched Episode 13 and 14, I'm liking the pace they put it at.

I'm not too sure why the Kaioken flame/aura colour is recoloured to orange in some parts however. Either way it's a minor difference.

A mini review/mind spill:

The lack of music, although I do not mind the new tracks at all, seems to both add and take away the drama around this saga. What I mean is that the new music helps to intensify it/keep along the pace as a lot of "fillers"/scenes were removed, seems to make it more dramatic, but at the same time the lack of the old music seemed to make it less desperate before.

What I didn't feel was the "desperation" that was portrayed in the old series (I suppose back when you were younger you -really- wanted Goku to win after the horrible mess that happened). Goku was trying his hardest to overcome Vegeta, and the fast paced (old) music that went with it accompanied it well. I found it a shame they cut off the 20 odd second moment where Goku charges at him for the first time after using Kaioken x3, the tension was lost in the new series he just swung at him, while in the old it "built up" to the swing, nearly like "I'm gonna FUCK YOU UP REAL GOOD NOW!/THIS IS FOR MY FRIENDS!!" (i know i know, lame... but yeh)
