    Spiking Mnks

"Ok, so I'm pretty much sick of seeing "Mnk can only chi blast on high def mobs" type stuff so I'm trying to think of putting footwork to uhh.... work.

Ok, so with max hth merited, dunes boots, footwork, a mnk would have 83 dmg at 480 delay. This seems to scream sam at me because with our belts the delay would be pretty close. This means however, that mnks would only use Dragon Kick as their WS, for it's the only WS that stacks with Footwork. Dragon Kick has a 50% VIT and STR mod with 2/2.75/3.5 mod at 100/200/300 tp. So a normal mnk would have to gear up like a sam/drk/war on WS to gain the same effect. Gear of noting:

    Meteor Cesti
    Kirin's Osode
    Shura Zunari Kabuto
    Shura Haidate/Usukane Hizayoroi/Hachiryu Haidate
    Flame Rings/Triumph Rings

Most everything else will be fine in your normal tp setup, maybe a bushinomimi or some extra str/vit where you can fit it, the real question is if footwork makes Kick Attacks count as a 2 handed weapon, since then you'd get a large acc boost from dex, no sense using footwork with a WS macro if Dragon Kick half lands every time.

So, dumb or what? anyone thinking anything? from what i understand people never use footwork simply because its slow, so I'm trying to make it work."

I want to see what the BG community thinks of this, being the poster on a seemingly deserted forum space i'd like some light shine upon this.

    Have fun.
While you're at it, I'm tired of seeing that BST can't be a DD.

I wonder if Dragon Kick has the same attack boost property that WS like Gekko, Ground Strike etc have recently been found to have.

I'm very interested in this. I quit for a year and came back to find Footwork in my JA list... I haven't gotten around to playing with it yet, so tell us how it goes!

You want to use an ability that heightens your delay to 480, use a WS like Dragon Kick, and take off most of your ACC gear? And you're concerned about the ACC from DEX over regular accuracy equipment?

Best I can tell, it's a replacement for anything you'd do MNK/THF Full Swing on. Aside from that, it's useful to switch on for a little extra TP from WS when the timer is up, but that's about it.

    @Kohan

If footwork made hth count as a 2 handed weapon you'd gain .25 * dex in acc.

And Vegetto just did testing and footwork still counted as a one handed weapon, +10 str = +6 atk = one handed weapon, the extra atk came from the 10% attack increase from footwork. this means you won't gain acc while using footwork, which means you won't str macro, meaning this is fail

I think Dragon Kick doesn't have the attack bonus properties, but Howling Fist does.

    Howling fist shouldn't, since it's a 2-hit WS

All hand-to-hand weapon skills are at least two hits.

That's... what I said. I was responding to Shin, who mentioned Howling Fist may get the pDif bonus that Y/G/K get. It doesn't. Y/G/K get a pDif bonus because they're 1-hit. Howling fist is 2, because it's h2h.

It always seemed to me that the first hit of Howling Fist is significantly stronger than the second and any Double Attack. And Dragon Kick never seemed to have any Acc bonus. One of the hits misses quite frequently.

Some Footwork + Dragon Kick fun on EPs:

    It's pretty worthless though overall.

Because the first hit is the actual ws and the 2nd hit is just a punch. its like dual wield when you get an extra hit via the offhand. With h2h equipped its your other fist is considered the offhand.
