DRK can also make Light or Darkness with a MNK (Dragon Kick or Fists to Insurgency or Cross Reaper).

I've enjoyed the times I've gone DRK to Salvage. I think any of the heavy DDs can do well, a lot of people are still stuck in MNK (and now SAM) onry mode.

Nin is not that bad but you'll notice the lack of usefull 2h on boss or nm. Still, like wafik said, nothing is bad on this game, there are many ways to do the same.
