I realize this isnt the red faction thread, but I'll derail a tad further, I just didnt enjoy the guns in red faction, but the hammer is alot of fun I'll agree, I would also like the bodies to explode when I hammer them ;/
If anyone got it for PS3 there is a game install bug, this is the fix:
"It has come to our attention that a small number of PS3 Prototype owners have been having issues with installing the game. This is a known issue and there will be a patch released on PSN shortly (details to follow).
If your PS3 tells you that you have insufficient hard drive space to install, even if you do, you are going to need to change the available space on your hard drive by 700 MB. This can be done in a number of ways including the following:
- Installing or uninstalling another PS3 game that allows hard drive installation.
- Downloading game demos.
- Removing downloadable content.
- Adding / removing MP3's or movies from the hard drive.
- Etc.
Once you have made the necessary change to your Hard Drive space insert the Prototype disc back into your PS3 and it should now install.
The goal of this is to change the available space on the hard drive. You may need to try a combination of any of the above suggestions.
We take this issue very seriously and are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thanks for your patience!
- Team Prototype"
Yeah I had that happen, I just deleted ffxi from my PS3 and good to go.
add me to the list of people that can't decide between infamous and prototype :\
Personally I have Red Faction and Infamous, and I'm picking up Prototype after work today, but I might have more loose cash then most people.
It just comes down to what you look for in a game. If you played GTA4 for the story/missions etc, then Infamous is your game. If you, like me, played GTA4 just to cause massive amounts of havoc, destruction, then Prototype is right up your alley.
Prototype it is then! Infamous will probably turn into a Greatest Hits faster anyway.
Are the controls really that bad though? What's so weird about them?
They're not bad, it's just sometimes hard to target specific enemies due to the chaotic nature of the game. Actually, I would say it's just helicopters that are annoying to take down and a bit frustrating when you have tanks and military constantly shooting at you. Aerial combat in general is pretty sloppy. Ground combat, movement, etc is fine though.
I lol'd at the 53,596 kills achievement
inFamous didn't really appeal to me from the demo, it seemed well polished but a bit too "serious" and lacking in the mayhem department.
On the flip-side Prototype isn't near as polished but a lot more fun in an old-school GTA sort of way.
The running about, jumping like a spastic, and gliding makes travelling around pretty enjoyable especially considering the scale of the map.
Since it's made by Activision, it'll probably go down in price a lot quicker than inFamous, which will take close to a year to get to Greatest Hits ala Assassin's Creed, etc.
Picked up Prototype last night.... played it for like four hours. Love everything about this game! It's so fun just causing mayhem in the streets, shooting a missile at a crowd of people is hilarious. Plus the side quests are fun too, I think so at least. Story seems interesting enough so far.
i think gears 2 has some ach for 100k kills, or something insane like that anyway
Fun game, enjoyed it quite a bit and might go ahead with a New Game+ for shits and giggles.
That said, fuck the 2 big bosses in their ass.
Spoiler: show
Yeah, 'Seriously 2.0', 100k kills (of any kind). Gears 1 had 10k multiplay kills.
On topic, I haven't really looked into this because just from GT info it seems more visceral than my tastes call for; I'm not opposed to violence, even of a reckless sort, but this character just strikes me as menacing in a way that I find more disturbing than entertaining.
Are my impressions misappropriated?
