    Halo Wars

Well we are under a month from the official release of Halo Wars and just recently the demo has been added to Xbox Live for DL.

I just DL'd the demo and its quite alot for a demo. Full cinematics and the first 2 missions. The first 2 missions aren't very hard but they were fun, controls seem rather easy to adapt to and moving around the map got very easy once you get use to it. There is a limit to the amount of troops you can have (with vehicles filling a certain troop level [ie. the Scorpion uses 3 troops]) which can get annoying but I didn't need more troops really.

The game is amazing IMO, doesnt rival RTW in terms of scope but the gameplay and the graphics blow many of todays RTS's away, not all but most.

Not only do you not discuss the topic at hand, but you misspell "any." Bravo good sir, bravo.

Being able to play through the whole story with co-op over xbox live is going to be kind of sweet, and it looks like they'll have a pretty good amount of play time available in online play. I'm really excited for this, but I'm torn between getting the normal version and the legendary version. I want that Spirit of Fire patch bad...

I'm sorry but am I the only one that finds halo wars broken in skirmish mode? :/

Playing as covenant; build 2 scarabs, 8 engineer's (4 watching each scarab) And sit them just out of range from the enemy base, but close enough to rapefuck anything the enemy spawns... You could leave the game running overnight and the enemy still wouldn't have put a dent in you (I tried this)

I hope they make it so you can't do that in the real game, otherwise multiplayer will be severely broken...

What was the computer set to? Easy? And even then, is it so bad that the computer is kind of a push over in Skirmish? How do you propose you get to having two scarabs against a human opponent? That's like, 48 of your unit availability, you wouldn't be able to have shit while you were building up your two scarabs.

Was on heroic, and the point still stands, when you do get 2 scarabs you've basically won...

Ok, but you could just say "When you have 40 unit points worth of guys rolling up to the enemy base, you win!" Or yeah, you get 6000+ supply worth of units, you win.

That is how a demo is supposed to be. Definitely buying this when it comes out.

I'm getting the legendary just so I don't have to download the new Halo 3 Multiplayer Maps.

I haven't played it too much, but the short time that I did I was pleasantly surprised that the controls didn't suck.

Generally speaking, most RTS's do not play very nice with a controller, they seem to have found a great control scheme though.

I just got this d/l'ed as well. I for one cannot wait for this to hit the shelves. Great gameplay, and like others have said, great controls for a console RTS.

I especially like the unit limitations; it totally negates zergs. That was one thing I hated about most RTS, especially in C&C games like Red Alert (although I still love it). Online Co-op will be interesting. I haven't played many RTS recently, but it will be interesting to see how a campaign will play out with 2 players.

one of the things i like to is, that bases can fuck your army up if you arent prepared, which is great since you can focus more on resources and tech as well as not having to build lil peon armies

Only played through the campaign, but damn, using a gamepad in a RTS was just painful.

Is there any way to handle multiple group at times, or move quickly accross the map (minimap)? I understand playing a demo for 1 hour isn't enough to judge a game, but I can't imagine the gameplay ever be satisfying if what you like is macro/microing your unit.

I try to avoid the games. The idea of RTS gameplay executed well on a console intrigued me but the dialogue... god damn.

If you have split up armies, pressing down on the D-pad will cycle through them. There needs to be a multiple single target select, imo. Double clicking a unit selects all of the same units (on screen I believe). Holding A allows you to select certain groups of units instead of all/on-screen. I liked grouping in other RTS games. At the press of a button I had control of another division of units without actually having to move the camera to them (therefore making base attacking much easier).

To move faster across the map, you can either hold LT while moving the cursor (it feels like 2x or 1.5x normal speed) or adjust it in the options menu.
