Best wheelchair ever or best wheelchair ever?
Hope for all the crippled in fear of the zombie apocalypse has now been established.
So for people who've played Case Zero:
I'm currently playing Dead Rising 1 for the first time since the month after it came out, and I guess my 2 biggest problems with the game are A) the controls are a little wonky and aiming feels stiff, and B) the whole survivors/main quest being on a timeline means you can easily miss anything that happens in the game and made everything feel rushed.
Do these things get fixed in Case Zero/DR2? From what I played of the Case Zero trial, it seemed like controls were a bit tighter, but I don't remember trying with a gun. I know they took the photography out of the 2nd game, but are there scoops in case zero? Can you pretty much rescue survivors any time or are there set windows of opportunity for each person? I really liked the trial but I'm not sure I'm ready to bite on DR2 quite yet. I did like how they added money and a shop in the game, and I assume that scratch cards carry over to subsequent playthroughs.
I dunno, I think this series would really benefit from taking away time restrictions altogether and just adding zombrex or a hunger system or something

FRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKFRANKDon't know if Greene noticed me. If he did, he didn't act like it. Absolutely no mugging for the camera. So, I try to get up closer. But I slip. Almost fall. Catch myself. I'm okay! But my phone just kind of went through the air. Landed in a small fountain.
Luckily, I was able to fish it out. Wipe it off. Dry it. Seemed to be working. Then I look up. Greene's running away. That son of a motherless goat! No appreciation for my art.
So, I go after him. But then I see some other dude. Vaguely recognized him. Maybe saw him at a party a few years back. Maybe a celebrity. Can't remember his name, though. Phil? Floyd? Regardless, he was fighting zombies, too. It was like Oktoberfest! But replace beer with zombies! And drinking with slaughter! It was like I'd died and gone to heaven.
So, I try taking pictures of the festivities. But the water must have pfargtl'd up my N1's camera, because all the pictures turned out really crappy. They were...here, you can see for yourself.
O.O is all that can be said
soooo... went ahead and got Case Zero, and I'm really glad I did. A single playthrough will take you about an hour or two, but you'll definitely need to play it a few times to level up and get all the achievements. You're capped at Level 5 for case zero, and the only stat that won't increase when you level up is your Speed. Since (just like DR1) level ups give you a random stat bonus I reloaded until I got the stats I wanted: Attack 2, Life 5, and Item Stock 6, as well as 2 special skills (Jump Kick and Backdrop).
The combo item system is really cool, unfortunately it's limited to 9 items in case zero but your scratch cards (and whatever combo cards you come across) carry over to the main game. The Drill Bucket is hilarious, but the electric rake and boomstick are great for taking out zombies. The ability to change clothes and mix drinks is back this time around, and there are a few magazines in case zero as well (I really hope there's small chainsaws you can boost to 2700 swings again lol). Also this time around there's money you can collect, which carries over between playthroughs as well, and there's a pawn shop where you can buy items and powerful weapons.
Still Creek is a small area, about the size of Paradise Plaza in Dead Rising 1, but there's still a lot of stuff to find and do. There's 9 survivors to rescue (who are thankfully not as retarded as the AI in DR1) and 1 Psycho to kill who serves as the boss of the DLC. You can still find chainsaws, shotguns/assault rifles, and about 50 or so weapons of varying effectiveness (throwing poker chips at zombies doesn't really do much besides slow them down lol)
All in all this feels a lot like DR1, with some improvements and polishing. Controls feel a bit tighter and you no longer seem to get grabbed by every other zombie that you run past because of poor collision detection. The aiming system is a lot smoother now as well, and you can move while shooting which makes guns a lot more useful.
For 400 points you really do get a lot of content, probably about 8-10 hours to do 100% of everything and see all the endings. I really like the idea of pre-DLC with things that carry over to the main game so I really hope more developers start doing stuff like this. Sure you miss out on a free game demo, although you can definitely just download the trial of Case Zero to get an idea of what gameplay is like as well. After playing this I'm really excited for Dead Rising 2 and this is coming from someone who didn't really care for the first game until I forced myself to play it all the way through.
speaking of downloadable Cases

trailer at link, but since its an epilogue it's a bit spoilery for DR2Capcom tonight showed off another new game in the Dead Rising series: Dead Rising: Case West.
Serving as an "epilogue" to the latest game, it will star both Dead Rising 2's Chuck Greene and Dead Rising's Frank West. Which explains that photo of the two together.
Case West will be a downloadable title, similar to the recent Case Zero, and will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. As you'd expect/hope for, it'll also feature co-op play, one man playing as Chuck, one as Frank.
fuck yeah, more dead rising is never a bad thing
Can't wait. It needs to be released already.

Faaaaaantastic! Dead Rising 2: Case West will feature everyone's favorite zombie-bashing photojournalist, practicing his craft by immortalizing the undead in still pictures. Developer Blue Castle Games' president, Rob Barrett, recently told Eurogamer that Frank West's return in the sequel's DLC epilogue would be accompanied by photography gameplay. Of course, West isn't there just to snap photos -- he'll join in the survival adventure co-op style.
looks like the review embargo has been lifted for this, maybe? IGN gave it an 8.0, but they gave it a really good review.

can't wait for next week!
It's already out here so I am fairly certain reviews would be fine at this point, lol.
oh well that explains things, damn euros
Been playing the PC version for awhile and holy shit are some of these boss fights hard/annoying as fuck...Even on co-op it's still not easy for us.
He's the 360 obsessed kind of person. Both versions play great and obviously the pc one is cheaper.
i only paid 30 dollars for the 360 version 8)
anyway the only PC version of a multiplatform release in recent memory, that's supposed to be a lot worse (that I can think of off the top of my head) is the first Force Unleashed
