Hi. We're blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.

I really want to know how Tom and Marc got back to talking again. Tom did a real dick thing, I'm honestly surprised Marc forgave him.

I didn't follow this band closely, but what made them split up?

There was a really good article in some magazine about it, and I can't seem to find the images, but basically it came down to Tom DeLonge thinking that he was bigger and the band wasn't good enough for where his career should be. So he went on, formed Angels and Airwaves, performed Blink182/Boxcar Racer songs at A&A concerts (so I've heard from a few people who saw them when they first started), and shit on Mark and Travis by having his manager contact them and quit the band for him before the 2004/5(?) tsunami relief show.

There were quotes from Mark and Travis that were to the effect of "fuck that guy" (I believe that verbatim from Travis actually)

It was. Tom and Mark were in Blink 182, and they were pretty much brothers. Youtube is littered with interviews of them basically saying they'd give their lives for each other, etc (this includes Travis as well). Tom basically stopped talking altogether, gave up on them, then had the balls to later said he "wished +44 [Travis and Mark's new band] the best of luck and [he] misses and loves them." Which brings me back to my first point: I REALLY want to know what this guy said to allow those two to forgive him.

The most recent A&A CD had a blatant rip off a Blink182 song as well. Along with all the other shit Tom did, I really can't see how ripping off the band that made him famous went well with the other two. So yes, wtf did he say?

Bleh apparently searching the internet is hard. This is off Mark's blog and dated Nov 18th of last year:

in the midst of everything else that has happened lately, tom, travis, and i have all spoken together. first through a number of phone calls, and then a couple of weeks ago we all hung out for a few hours. they’ve all been great, very positive conversations. we’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. it’s a good thing. obviously the first question for a lot of people will be “does this mean a blink-182 reunion?” the answer is none of us know. we haven’t talked about it at all. right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect, and let the past be the past. the events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. life is too short.

It's in reference to their long time producer Jerry Finn dying and the plane crash with Travis. I assume with everything that happened, they just decided that bygones where bygones and they should start playing music again.

I actually think the last, self titled cd was one of their best...with the exception of that song with Robert Smith of The Cure...god that song is terrible. This is fantastic news, they're one of my favorite bands. I only hope that when they tour that they come to Chicago, and that they avoid the normal place they go to. Smaller clubs would be freaking amazing instead of the huge outdoor venue they typically book.

Hope this doesn't mean the end of the Angels and Airwaves or that gets pushed aside. I love Blink, but Angels and Airwaves is just Godly.

I see a lot of people bashing Tom for saying things, but they forget that Mark and Travis basically gave him the choice of "continue on with the touring, or spend time with your family. If you choose the latter, there will be repercussions." I know on BG this isn't a group of people who make the best decisions (majority play FFXI) but family > anything.
