Anyone found a good method for taking over Turtlesuckland [S] yet?

Makes me sad that I still don't have a Balestarius to play with.

Is there nothing that can be done to make it more doable?

Total lack of interest from the crap other drops?

I understand campaign there sucks cause you have to talk to the npc at the start, then go all over hell and gone to get to the forts and shit + get raped by non-campaign links after the battle usually.

Two teams, one group of puller and rdm or blm to pull mobs to NPC waves nonstop (most difficult in this zone since the NPCs hop down off the ledge above into the pit of Quadav), another merit-party style group to just tear through the other mobs. That's the minimum, ideal is 5ish people pulling/sleeping at NPCs, with a well-built ally fighting other mobs.

If all NPCs die, all the mobs warp and you lose a lot of progress, and worse you have nothing to kill for a while (unless you lucked out and they warp while another enemy unit was en route) so that's why you want to try to get at least a couple Republic NPCs off by themselves fighting mobs. When a wave of quadav arrive, you have one hour to get the Fortification number down to 90% of what it was on arrival (e.g. 300 Fort >> Force retreat at 270). Each NQ quadav you kill lowers the fort by one. Every time a team is dispatched, they go up by 10 (6 for shieldwarriors).

When you force the enemy units to retreat, their standing goes down and Bastok's goes up. After the most recent patch, just killing mobs has a small effect as well. Don't bother going mid-week, you'll just lose all your progress the next day. Go on a Saturday afternoon/evening and just plan to stay as long as it takes. Hope that some JPs see the /cmap and arrive to help out when your friends start passing out. It looks like a lot at first, but remember you only need to get bastok's bar one pixel above the quadav bar, not to the full 100%. Unless something goes wrong, you should start seeing signs of hope after 3-4 hours.

Edit: Oh, and this is assuming you don't care about getting exp with tags. For one, if you want to be effective most of your fighting will take place when there's no battle (battle only occurs when an NPC unit is there or almost there). Also, pulls and fights are much easier if you don't have tags on, since they don't aggro and the AoEs targeted on others don't hit you (Crimsonarmor is pretty much duoable without tags because of this). I wouldn't tell people coming to help not to get tags (you'll need all the help you can get) but you do want a few people without them to sort of manage the whole thing.

    Lame. T.T

Getting a group to do that for Balestarius and Crapaud earring sounds unlikely as fucking hell. T.T

I remember running past the Campaign mobs while killing the SCNM mobs before. If memory serves, they hang out in the (F/G-9/10) area on the first map.

Something I posted in a different thread some months ago if it helps. Red is the fort, and the ring is radius of the mobs. The path shows the approach of the NPC units and note they go up and over ledges. GL in any case. There's just so many damn non-campaign mobs it's ridiculous.

Modifying Gwynplaine's image to elaborate on what I was saying above.

When the NPCs arrive, you want to have a turtle waiting and slept at B. Collect as many NPCs as you can, and then pull them back to point A (if you get the NPC leader, this part might not be possible unless it's one of the weaker ones or you built up a lot of hate in advance, so if that happens just stay at B). As they are fighting one, bring another one from the clump of mobs and sleep it right in their faces so they attack it as soon as the one they're fighting dies. How fast you pull will depend on how many NPCs you've collected. Sometimes it's once every 5min, sometimes you need to pull nonstop linking 2-3 at once.

The people who are dedicated to clearing mobs should camp at point C. Maybe a little further back so Imps don't wander by and cure the one you're fighting, which is annoying. They should pull their own mobs, under no circumstances should they pull anything off the person pulling to the NPCs unless asked to. This is because if the NPCs have hate on a mob (say a mob diaga's them or something), and then the group kills the mob while the NPCs are fighting another, when that mob respawns on the other side of the fort the NPCs will run off to it, link the entire pit, die en masse, the Quadav will return victorious, you'll lose most of the progress you've made, and you'll be in for a long night.

If either group gets a regular spawn, just kill it. If you've got a group capable of clearing 30 campaign mobs in 60 minutes, then they'll make short work of them. If you get a lot of outside helpers, CFH it to make it go even faster.

Occasionally, no NPCs will come through point B, or you'll miss them, and so you'll have a clump of mobs fighting at D. Here you will have to improvise. If it's just a few NQ mobs and they haven't linked many quadav yet, you can usually get hate on the one they're fighting and pull it back to point A, dragging along the NPCs and whatever has linked with you. Sometimes it's too late and you have 40 mobs on them already. If you have one of the tougher NPCs with AoE WSs like Max or Bart, then if you have a few RDMs, WHMs, or SCHs you can try sleepgaing everything and just spam curing them. In this situation the melee who would normally be camped at C should just help kill the mobs, usually NMs (these won't respawn) > NQs that are almost dead > /assist the NPC General on NQ. If you have one of the weaker NPCs, or insufficient support for them and you know that more quadav are en route (there's an exact wait--I think 13 minutes but that could be another zone--between when the dispatch message occurs in Markets [S] and when they arrive in Beadeaux), you can also cut your losses, let them die, and hope they warp before the incoming units arrive so you'll have stuff to kill for the next hour to keep working on progress.

Edit: You will also have to make a similar snap decision if Bastok NPCs arrive before any Quadav are there and start beating on the fort, causing them to be surrounded by a ton of Turtles when they arrive. This is bound to happen at least once. If you decide to go the "spam cure the general that uses AoE WS and assist him" route, make sure that anyone with campaign tags is either sneaked/invised or far away from the fort when they pop, so that as many Bastok NPCs get aggro as possible. Otherwise it is difficult to pull NPCs off the fort, unless you are (un)fortunate enough to get an AoE-spammy wave of Turtles. You at the very least need to wait for your target general to get aggroed before you move in. A person without tags can monitor and give the order.

Edit 2: If you end up with a lot of random people showing up, you will get idiots who AFK hitting forts in the above situation, or just don't pay attention when you say "(danger) Waugroon Heavyshell POP @3min" or whatever. Just make sure none of them are in your alliance, and laugh to yourself when they get owned. If they are in your alliance, kick them, because the mobs have darter-hate so it'll probably get everyone killed and ruin your chances of pulling it off. Not to mention even the people without tags will get hate that way too, and lose exp when they die.

Does past Pash have the Mute/Curse bit, or can you just sneak up and make your way through the underground tunnels?

Just sneak and run through. There's just one Senechal Imp that you have to watch not to aggro about halfway to the tunnel from the entrance.

..... I switched to Sandy for Splitting Heirs .... I wouldn't mind switching back to Bastok for this.

No mutes or cursers in past Beadeaux but you get to deal with imps instead.
