As for Helen Thomas, well, she clearly has a stronger hold on what goes on in US foreign policy than you ever will.

    edit: HALP THEY'RE ATTACKING OBAMA
    Thanks for proving my point.

So Rhinox, since you know so much about US foreign policy to be complaining about the question, what do you think of Obama's current policy towards Afghanistan and the allegations that it's no different from Bush's approach? I certainly hope you have at least a decent grasp of the situation there.

In terms of what? Using the military approach as oppose to the Civilian one? I personally don't like it. Nor do I like the fact that we're continuing to bomb targets in Pakistan with him in office. Nor do I like the language that he is using in regards to the afghan war especially when he refers to it as the "War we must win". I see it easily becoming Soviet-afghan war v2.

And regarding me riding Obama's cock. You and Elvis rode it just as hard as I did. Here's the thing though. I'm now not trying to distance myself from him like you and I'm willing to eat shit if he turns out to be a shitty president. Nor do I believe that there there is an apocalypse coming and the Jews are the root cause of it. Does that mean I have to agree with every thing he says or every piece of legislation? Of course not. So please would you kindly get off your high horse and remove that giant pretentious thumb from your ass.

President Obama is clearly not the person that's going to end America's military-industrial-complex. That will take a clear visionary and not somebody who's so entrenched in the two-party dichotomy.

Soviet-Afghan war is subtle way to put it but not far from the truth. I don't get what you mean with your question. What terms? Can you explain why you think it's such a bad idea? Do you know of the Pashtun people and how that relates into why this is a terrible idea? The relationship between the Afghan government, the Taliban, the Afghan people and what the US military is doing? It's important to understand exactly why what Obama is doing is a terrible idea beyond a rhetoric that amounts to "war is bad".

As for the Obama cock riding, i've been distancing myself from him long before he won the election, and the only time i ever feel sympathetic to Democrats is when i'm reminded of my seething hatred of Republicans. As for the comment about the Jews, that's another classic example of underhandedly trying to devalue what other people say and you don't agree with but you're incapable of actually arguing them on the same level of knowledge, so you resort to crappy tactics. If someone criticizes Israel, they're antisemitic, and if someone criticizes Obama, then they're trolling. Same tactic, different words. You've even done the same thing here by commenting on how "irrelevant" Helen is, when she coincidentally tosses that question at Obama with clear intent, but since you didn't like that, you're not actually going to debate against it, but rather attack her character as being obsessed with JFK as if that somehow made the fact that Obama is no different when it comes Israel any less of a bad thing.

As for me being pretentious and having a high horse, you say that as if i didn't enjoy knowing more than you and don't admit it openly.

edit: before you say that you never made a comment that can even be misconstrued as remotely inferring anti-semitism, read this a few more time and quit being coy.

Japan's government spending failed in the 90's because they waited years before they started spending because they spent most of their time trying to make their capital markets more solvent. Some economist have even published papers that Japan in the 90's didn't even have enough land area so that the government could spend enough money to get out of the recession. Obama is so persistent with passing the stimulus bill as soon as possible because of Japan's mistakes of waiting too long. if we wait to pass the bill we are almost guaranteed a 10+ years recession because we are in almost the exact same situation as they were 18 years ago.

Similar to ignoratio elenchi, a red herring is an argument, given in reply, that does not address the original issue. Critically, a red herring is a deliberate attempt to change the subject or divert the argument. This is known formally in the English vocabulary as a digression which is usually denoted as "red herring".
The term red herring comes from the time when criminals would use fish to lead sniffer dogs off the trail.
I suppose, also has a bit of "kill the messenger".

So Rhinox, what's a sufficient level of criticism to direct at a politician?

My original point was about the act of asking important (but perhaps trite) questions. I didn't say anything about Obama with regards to Israel.

Personally, I think there are institutional pressures that influence decisions in our political system. I think that's pretty damn obvious and accepted as fact. Whether it's the Israel lobby or the military-industrial-complex, etc. Those pressures shape policy. One guy is not going to change everything.

Things start with regular people from the ground up. That's a form of pressure that can yield real change, and history has repeatedly demonstrated that.

So when Obama brushes off the question, I am not angry at him specifically but rather his institutional role. And you won't change that by yelling at the guy on top. You have to gain support and surround him/her and compel them to change.

Did Martin Luther King Jr. give blacks civil rights? No. He's an important figure in the movement - which compelled people to change the rules. Same goes for other movements of social change.

I don't know why you included the straw man about Jews. Is that in reference to my posts in the Israel-Gaza thread?

I'm done playing this game with regardless of how I answer it not gonna be a good enough answer for you. And no matter what sources I cite its not gonna be good enough because it hasn't been translated from a spanish language news sources. Quit trolling.

You're so full of shit. You may have been distancing yourself before the election but before it was clear he was going to win you were riding it pretty fucking hard. (Remember devil's advocate on shit you know very little on?) yeah That was in reference to that and other things. Like I said You know nothing of Helen Thomas besides of what written on wiki and while I know a little more then whats written there still more then you. The presidents haven't taken her serious for awhile now which is why he laughed and joked when he called on her.

I never called you nor Elvis anti-Semitic fuck didn't even call Helen Thomas Anti-semitic. The only Anti-semite on this board is Churchill and he doesn't even deny it. I just don't believe that Israel is as evil as you claim it to be the fact that you yourself read more into what I said says alot more about you then it does me. Does that mean I don't think Israel gets special treatment? Of course it does.

As for me being pretentious and having a high horse, you say that as if i didn't enjoy knowing more than you and don't admit it openly.
Sure it bugs you. which is why you're trolling me and this thread.

Criticize Politicians all you want. Kuya was just being a troll and suggesting I was riding Obama's cock because I was giving Helen Thomas shit for what I perceived as a silly self-serving question.

and the bolded part was my point to begin with. FUCK

What did she gain by asking that question? A really sexy Bi-line is what.

That jews comment was more directed towards Kuya's trolling and him playing the victim of being called an anti-semite by some imaginary poster in this thread and in the gaza thread. Like I said in the Gaza thread. I don't agree with you in part in the subject but I respect that your passionate about it.
