I have both Kikoku and Amano. Suppa is my preferred earring as it offer a lot more improvement to NIN than bushi can offer to SAM. In any case, I have tested sam/drg and sam/war in merit pt and sam/drg comes out superior so I would not use bushi in merits anyway.

I mean at that point it comes down to how much you use sam/war for anything vs. how much you use nin or DWjob/NIN to DD. Assuming an amano sam /war tanks pretty often, bushi will be better, but if you don't tank on SAM, then you might as well /drg, use wyvern, buy a triumph, and keep the suppa.
This solution while seemingly diplomatic is potentially a red herring. The issue here is beyond what one 'likes' to do, but what is actually 'best' to do. Suggesting that sams should play /drg and use wyvern thus sidestepping the debate to use suppa (or any other alternative) is relevant only if sam/drg is better than sam/war in places sams will normally be. More particularly, since the debate was spawned in part due to amano, in places where amano sams will be.

I'm sure that sam/drg can out parse sam/war under 'ideal' meripo conditions (min x 2, capped or near capped haste, good food, amano, aggressive playstyle.)

I'm not sure that most relic sams enjoy those conditions in a lot of endgame events. I'm not sure I've seen those conditions tested or evaluated on this issue outside of ideal meripo spots. And my sam rarely does meripo.

I like the idea of /drg to shed hate, but view that aspect to be a defensive maneuver not an offensive one.

I gear my sam based upon what I actually do or plan to do (endgame events with some support), not what would work best on things I rarely do (meripo with maxed support.) Presumably, other people do the same (but one never knows.) As I have said, /drg is clearly is superior to /war under certain conditions, but I think it has limitations under the conditions amano sams normally find themselves and where one plans to do ones best.

I am always looking to improve, so if anyone can justify /drg over /war under 'normal' real world endgame conditions, I am open to it.

I think it's a pretty nice earring for COR, not for the Dual Wield, but just for the +sword and +AGI. Sure, it would be better to swap in a Drone for Quick Draw, but if I'm not carrying a cape for 2 AGI, I'm not carrying an extra earring for 1 AGI either. I picked Ethereal (for DRG solo and other reasons), and COR definitely needs the accuracy when TPing with sword, so I can't really thing of an earring I'd rather have next to my Brutal than Suppa.

I still use it on BST because I like Man/Temp, still use it on NIN/DNC and DNC/NIN to solo/duo stuff (another huge win on DNC/NIN when offhanding Joyeuse), and use it on THF/NIN when trying to farm something. For others, it may be different, but with my jobs, Suppa is easily the best choice. I picked it back when I only had BRD, and I've never regretted it.

Shedding hate isn't always a good thing, I like /war in merit parties, specifically so I can use provoke and get screwed less on overwhelms. It also keeps the mob off a defenseless KC rng/war more often or allows a mandau thief to maximize his damage more. These are the situations I am usually in when I merit.

I also do salvage and limbus as sam/nin more often than not, which some people may think is a waste, but I think is the correct call with the support we take. I do have defense/evasion setups for my sam, and I do use /drg occasionally as well.

That being said, the only "dual wield" jobs I have are whm/nin, which I rarely if ever use (though I must say, Mystic Boon is making me want to work on that more again...but in general I use sam/dnc the most, and nin/dnc rarely), and nin, which I rarely use, and am mainly set up for nin/drk as a tank job, and nin/dnc more for a solo/eva build. In any case, I spend probably 20x the time on samurai that I do on nin/dnc + whm/nin combined.

In the end, it all comes to playstyle and what you want to do, which is why it's silly to debate this on forums. Nobody is wrong for choosing Bushi, nobody is wrong for choosing Suppa. I personally prefer my Bushi, and have never once regretted it.

/drg is overrated, and situational. It is a solid sub, but it's really very very close vs /war (when Ruke made his post, I sent him some PMs and discussed with him there, but his math erred in favor of /drg).

BTW, that ridill comment wasn't serious, but if we want to talk about .1% of the samurai out there, why not discuss the .1% at the other end of the spectrum. If you consider sam your main, I would -strongly- encourage a Bushi.
sam should sub drg suppa ridill wyvern targe
nin should get bushi/justice and wield a GK
rdm should get hollow for more enspell dmg
everybody should get the earring he will get more fun with
    everybody else stfu
