I'm A25. I haven't dug up an Elemental ore yet, but I've stopped trying so that I can focus on getting to A20 while profiting.

I am an A15 Digger on Lakshmi Server. Sad thing is I have given up chocobo digging at the moment to level fishing. I know its a constant profit but as of lately just haven't had the time to dig between Fishing/Events/Real Life. I know a few people on Phoenix who dig. In particular one who gets ore and makes some nice money. I have only gotten a few ores in my days although I hit A15 and stopped digging shortly after. Maybe I will pick it back up to become the ever exclusive A10 digger I once dreamed...

I don't even remember how close to level I am anymore, I stopped keeping track. But it's fun being able to dig up 50k a day without much investment.

I was thinking about taking up fishing, but I really don't have the patience for it, haha.

The really great thing for you is that you have a Bonecraft 100. This allows you to do so much more than simply sell off materials for profit. I have considered leveling Bonecraft to 100 as well. The only thing is I have a leathercraft 70ish mule that I want to finish. I also want to do Fishing lol and level Thief as well. I hop around too much from job to job in game already, and beginning to do the same for crafts....lol

A20, bone 102 as well. Too many JP on my server on constant rotation keeping prime zones dug up eternally. I haven't dug for months.

Well, digging takes ridiculously long to level, right? I don't think it's a secret really.

People don't level fishing because it's boring, and I think choco-digging is looked at the same way.

In all seriousness, digging is a complete bitch to start from scratch now. i've tried to do it on an alt character and it drives me nuts. I'll stick to finishing it on my main. And as others have said, you really can't maximize your profit unless you are a Veteran in a related craft as well.

I've kept track of all my digging stats since A45. Once I finish I'm going to post them somewhere so people have an idea of what they're getting into.

I guess, but you can still make a decent profit. What I learned is just to save EVERYTHING. I mean, bone chips. 300-1k a stack. Stick them on the AH on a mule in windy and they'll sell. It's not much, but it covers the price of some greens. *Shrugs*

I'd like to level Woodworking again, because it would be awesome for digging. Especially from digging in the jungles. SO many petrified logs, ebony logs, etc... And if I could get goldsmithing to 87, on a different account, I could eventually pop out ele. beads from ele. ore to make into ele. staves.

I used to dig alot, even raised a chocobo with bore and burrow, and currently at A30.

Lost interest in it because of competition, most of the popular areas are empty at the times I can play these days. It just feel like I'm wasting time and greens. I feel jipped that many people leveled their digging before the digging fatigue, and now people need to spend like 2 years digging to fatigue everyday to hit A10.

I hit A40 like the day before the nerf and quit like two days after. I picked it back up again back in Sept I think, and I'm about to hit A30. I really noticed the difference in items being picked up when I hit A35, and it's making me wonder what exactly A10 people get for results when they dig. I'd love to see a screenshot of digs from someone with A10 just to compare.

I'm A10. Its not better, it all depends whats in the pool... you just get a high *chance* to get the items first. Every JP is A10 so... doesn't really matter. Also I don't think it's worth anymore camping elemental ores... 50k in 30 minutes everyday digging random stuffs; elemental ores days are even more camped than normal days lol.

I'm an A25 digger on Phoenix, raised chocobo with burrow and bore, have dug up 2 ores in my digging career but is rare suppose I need a couple more lvls. I also have a mule with 100 +3 bonecraft. I use a lot of stuff to synth low lvl bone gear make decent money on it when market not flooded, I never dig in western altepa I never get anything, gotta be dig bots out there not worth my time for fragments, but do decent with wyvern scales in eastern and can craft with them and make good money. I really just like to dig in valkurm dunes though just selling black chocobo feathers and phoenix feathers on a mule I make decent money and the occasional demon skull, last time I dug up 2 I turned both into demon helm +1 so that was good.

Im about 5k stacks after reaching A10, have 4 chocobos raised with different abilities and IMO digging is quite sad right now, there so much competition at top level that a lot of times run average income is really underwhelming.

I have Bone 100+3 with capped subs, but I would say that having woodworking or goldsmithing are better to optimize Digging. I dont bother with animal glue from chips or making gelatine from femurs, and since coral is so damn hard to get from Altepa only leaves some crafting with wyrm scales for me.

Well I have to say that personally I dont like to follow repops, so I know that I could do more money everyday but following repops means investing 3x-4x time and to me its not worth it, of course if you want to get coral with some consistency the only way its to follow repops and its sooooo boring, so I just like better to do fast runs and if I want to make some extra money I allready have 2-3 alternative things that yield similar income/hour (which is kind of sad after leveling to A10...)

I also dont bother 95% of the time with Elemental Ores, its so easy to do a full run without seeing one and it takes a lot more time than a stard run following elements and changing zones, without the cap at least you knew that you could just keep going till getting something.

I have had quite a bit of bad luck, when I reached A10 I was in full RMT/nonRMT bot era and then the cap changed Digging to a pocket gil hobby.

Another Digger told to me the other day that Altepa had botters, I didnt know there were still people botting after the cap, Im guessing they leave their characters/mule botting the area and then just come back and pick whatever they got till limit?

As I say allways, dont take me wrong Diggng is nice if you enjoy it and if you have the time (which I dont have anymore) and patience to follow repops can have a decent gil potential/day, otherwise its a little nice income to get going.

SE should have added some kind of high-level additions to Digging after the cap nerf to help legit diggers and not just leave it fucked up and still open to mindless digging as it seems...

Also I dig Orichalcum from time to time.
Popular zones are constantly dug up on Ragnarok, but I see of course it's the same on every server.
It's a fun hobby. :D

How do you find out your exact A[insert wait time here]? I'm somewhere in A40 and A35 region, but I can never tell for sure when do I level up as depending on zone I can sometimes start digging on the 35 mark (batallia, any wide open area tbh) while others not till 45 (jungles, jugner). Should I just pick the non-laggiest zone's time and go with that?

I wish I started digging before the the nerf. Starting nowadays is not worth it compared to fishing or crafting.

I also wish S-E made the digging skill and skillups visible :/

hmm lets see, I think thats how I did it...

Say you are A40 and want to check if you levelled to A35.

make a macro:

/echo level check macro.
/wait 38
/dig


zone and spam your macro until you see the echo message, then stop.

IF you get an error msg ( must wait longer) then you're still A40
Else you are A35!

You can put any number between 36 and 39 there, 38 is just to avoid lag thingies ( for example, for me A10 is A11, A40 would be A41 etc due to lag)

IF you get an error msg ( must wait longer) then you're still A40

You can put any number between 36 and 39 there, 38 is just to avoid lag thingies ( for example, for me A10 is A11, A40 would be A41 etc due to lag)

I have used exatly the same macro and allways worked like a charm, I allways did zone+1s but yeah +2 +3 +4 will work the same, about the difference between zones try the fastest posible, Sauromugue to Meriphataud has allways been one of the cleanest one for me.

Macro 1 For Zone Timer......
/echo area wait time
/wait 60
/echo digging ready

Macro 2 Dig Timer
/echo digging
/dig
/wait 16
/echo dig ready

Normally I start doing this just for the first few times of a zone
due to easily being able to edit the macros for level up purposes...

This will enable you to know for sure what your appropriate dig time/zone time dig is....

I'm still not capped, but I've kept very detailed notes on my digging and I can guarantee you this isn't even remotely accurate. The stacks/level are significantly less than they used to be pre-nerf...which actually is indicative that it was never stacks/level, but items/level.

It's still a long time and it takes daily dedication, but it's not even close to 2 years.
