There are tons and tons of shows that don't do this.
I'm sure your main reason is simply that you don't want to be labeled as an anime nerd.

That's the thing with Yoshitoshi ABe, you either like his stuff or you don't. I haven't met anyone that's indifferent to him.

Yeah fo' realz, that shit is wack.

Nah, I'm already labelled a gamer nerd, I'd just be futhering the stereotype by liking anime too!

Actually, I don't like animation in general, as I don't like the feeling of snapping out of suspended disbelief, it's like "oh wow I forgot about life, this shit sux" and then depression.

I agree with this, I liked Pan's Labyrinth, and The Mist would have been a decent movie if they had not fucked up the last 15 minutes. The monsters in it were cool.

I hated the movie Sleepwalking fucking crappiest movie ever. I hate those types of movies that have constant soft music in the background and they try to be all depressing and emo and never go anywhere and they do not have any evolution of character.

The english dub was horrible, but when it's not that version it's actually pretty good.

I agree, all those emotionals story driven crap are retarded. Let's go watch stuff with big explosion and boobs instead.

Haha, glad somebody said it. Reminds me of my dad, he can never pay attention to a good plot so he just calls them stupid and watches action flix such as "War" and claims it is the best movie ever.

    Me personally... I picked "BAYSPLOSIONS"
    Michael Bay easily.

I can only assume that every else has not listed Rocky horror because they were forewarned of how terrible it is.

All of it I am assuming, which is why I agreed. I can't watch most anime as well though, so that part I agree with.

But it's an outright lie, a fabrication of the truth, a misguided misconstrued monstrosity of sincerity.

I enjoy a good story a lot more than a CGI explosion, however I thought Benjamin Button was so thin on the ground on both that it wasn't worthy of any merit towards it's script writing. The technical process of making it was masterful however, particularly the production design and make up, but when that's the only thing keeping you watching a film, there has to be something wrong with it, right?

I couldn't have cared less about the make up, design and so on from that movie. It would've been just as great, the plot and acting is what made me like the movie.

The comment on Lost was more or less what got to me though. But I did like TCCOBB.

My problem with Lost is probably less about the show and more towards my rebelling against the mainstream because I'm an angsty teenage individual.

Plus when I started watching I had less patience for TV in general, I didn't really follow many TV shows at all, and the pace at which shows were aired used to get to me. I should give it another chance, if it's really that great?

To be completely honest, I never watched Lost until last year. I guess you could say I was the same way as you and whenever people would talk about it I would roll my eyes. But one late night I was board and streamed the show online. I had never been hooked so much on anything in my life. I watched season 1-4 within a week and it has become my favorite show of all time.

Somewhat mad that it took me so long to get into it, but I also liked the ability to watch season after season without having to wait weeks and years between episodes.

I was exagerating with my post obviously, but what do you consider a good story?

Also, the statement about animes is so broad it can't be right. Not all of them are good, but the quantity of story driven story is much larger than any other media here. That's why most people like anime.

Personally, I can't stand episodic content (1 episode, 1 story), and that's pretty much the only thing we get on TV here. That's why I love Lost, and that's why I ended up watching many animes. It's way more fulfilling than a show that last 10 years.

    @considering a good story

Benjamin Button had potential to be a good story if they'd have cut certain bits out (for example, the childhood section was too long in my opinion, and in the grand scheme of things could have been culled quite considerably) and, even though the film was overly long, used some of this extra time to expand on some of the more meaty content, such as the war effort section, and generally more of his mid-life.

In terms of the anime opinions, yes it's very generalised and I know there will be exceptions, but I guess it's my opinion, and though it has been challenged, much of the anime I have seen hasn't opposed my preconceptions that I mentioned previously.
