think petitions might work better if they proof read before they start one
Based on a bunch of conversations I've had with others, most of us feel pretty lucky to be banned.
Sure, losing the 'time investment' sucks, but I already lost all that time to begin with by playing FFXI--at least we don't have ways to actually play now, which was the only problem in the first place.
If I couldn't have my exact character back, with all the stuff that it did have (I wouldn't take anything better either, because that defeats the purpose of what I did when I played), I wouldn't want to waste my time anymore.
Ergo, SE has prevented everyone from wasting obscene hours on a video game, allowing many, many hopelessly addicted people to get on with life.
Seriously, these bans were a pretty good thing. They've also prevented us from wasting time on a game where, and good luck denying this:
You have the ability to be every class in the game, on one character, and therefore need every piece of gear that's hard to get due to time constraints, and you have to work with people that want all the same stuff you, and it's constant intra-group conflict but the whole premise of the game is to function as a group.
It's such a flawed concept and design in the way in which a lot of the gear is accessible and the amount of people able to play those classes, that it's ridiculous, especially given their statement you have to click on every time you log into the game.
In closing, the last post I'm ever going to make in Advanced, because it really is a waste of my time to post in here:
SE didn't end the game for 550, they either:
A. Ended their hopeless, thought-to-be incurable addiction
or
B. Allowed them to stop playing a very shitty, lazily designed game.
end, if you want me, I'll be sitting in spam forum
I know you said it is your last post in adv. But you know deep down you would've wanted to quit by striping the gil/items and selling the character. And it kinda has to piss off most/everyone that all their time (as you say yourself) is for shit really because they are banned.
Everyone is an hero once they don't have a choice~
Also, online petitions, as noted by Snopes, are worse than real petitions, which are useless and terrible. The only benefit to petitions is signing "Harold Dick" in large flowing writing.
How do I anti-sign?
Hmm. the thing about the friend using their acount made me think. SE wouldn't care about that BUT. I think someone should try this one out. Someone that is banned should call SE and tell them.... your acount was stolen >.> You have been at school and haven't had time to play so you don't know how long its been stolen. I know people whos acounts were banned for rmt activity after they had gotten hacked. And SE restored their characters. I'm kind of curious if this would actually work. Of course when 500+ people call in with the same sob story I'm sure they would put a stop to it. Not saying anyone should go out and manipulate the system, but I wonder if it would actually work :D
Works until square does a check to find out your account hasn't been accessed by a third party.
As a side note aren't the characters and the accounts property of square anyways ?
So really square just banned themselves ?
it is possible to get your character after a ban.
if you dont believe me, than look up a character by the name of Nathlas on Hades.
LM-17. one year later, he was back lol.
Since Nathlas had already owned a 2nd account at the time, he let one of his other friends play Nathlas. He was a cool guy, i liked him a lot. But i didnt know that the guy who played Nathlas the 2nd time around worked for SE and got fired afterwords ... kinda ironic.
and no im not joking.
so yes, if SE was not lazy, they could go about restoring anyone's character. no questions asked.
1. Denial
2. Anger.
3. Bargaining.
4. Depression.
5. Acceptance.
Almost there!
Petitions never work even for "good" causes, why do you think it's going to do shit for something in such a moral grey-area?
Waste of time and waste of bandwidth. (So is this post)
Also, a big thanks to posts like this one. It's hilarious XD:
I've had the most horrendous morning/week and some of these posts really cheered me up, so thanks^^.
Keep em banned
I say QQ harder. SE wasent going to tip people off that they were gonna take action against people because as soon as they did people would have sold their accounts before being banhammered.
Your friend should be happy they got banned. Once you've quit this game and are able to sit in reflection you really do realize that this game sucked when you look back at all the bullshit you went through to *try* to enjoy this game.
When I look back upon my time in FFXI, it was the most fustrating game I have ever played. I still don't understand how I was able to endure the bullshit SE pulled over the years i played it. I guess addiction is a powerful thing.
