Rapture will suck for the first year, just like every other MMO.

Now lets see if somebody can kill AV b4 Rapture comes out
I been wondering what is SE doing with FFXI. Haven't really seen anything about the next FFXI update. Leads me to believe that they have few people working on it in the past couple of years there has always been an update in March, however not even a teaser about it yet.
Unless SE changes the approach they took with FFXI, the first year of Rapture will see a ton of players then as many people become annoyed with SEs lack of communication along with whatever other limitations stifles the game - we'll see a mass exodus much like the one that happened mid-COP.
Lets hope SE sees that coming and actually changes the way they approach players as a whole - they dont have the bullshit "We're new to the genre" excuse anymore.

^Bout my general thoughts on that anymore.
That's assuming they're willing to give another SE MMO a shot in the first place. Despite the damage control ToAU and later implements did, parts of FFXI still leave a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth. People probably won't risk it without some form of trial or open beta first.
^ This also. I know a lot of people who have said once they quit FFXI and heard news of the MMO they said they'd never pick it up. Personally I can't blame them, since it's being developed by the same people who do FFXI I can see where they'd be worried, since I do worry the game devs will slip into the same BS that hurt FFXI.
I very much doubt that the majority of issues FFXI has seen with regard to the apathetic attitudes of the developers will be carried across to Rapture, since it seems now that the development of Rapture itself is largely to blame for its predecessor's problems. They'd be retarded beyond all measure if they half-assed their new MMO á la later-years FFXI, it just wouldn't make any sense to do that.
I'll laugh if we see more kings in Rapture. It'll be like a mass exodus of people quitting "Oh god, not this shit again."
Will not void your warranty if you do it properly.

Hey, Asheron's Call...
I played that waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, and AC2 came out, and it sucked balls, even though its graphics etc were vastly improved. No one played it. Everyone's still playing AC 1 lol.
Therefore, I am not worried. If SE's current performance is any indication they'll probably just fail Rapture too. At least FFXI has an already tried and true playerbase (haha) and a base to work off of.
I remember the old days of Everquest, and when EQ2 was first announced. People grew crazy and hyped the game that it would be alot better since the developers learned alot from their previous product to slap into the new game.
Not so much. FFXI & Rapture will both follow this same path imo.
It's not like there won't be somewhere else to go if/when Rapture fails and FFXI's lack of new content sloughs off too many users.
SE has set a precedent of not listening to their player base, I see the same problems with FFXI as with their new game. New game, same old problems.
