Braves have some speed, and power in Chipper and McCann. If they can develop some of their pitching prospects late this year or next year, I could see them putting up a fight against the Mets/Phillies.
If Francouer, Kelly, and Kotchman didn't suck, the Braves would easily be leading the east with that staff and chipper/mccann.

I disagree somewhat. If Frenchy and Kelly didn't suck, then they'd probably at least be tied. I agree with that part, but Kotchman hasn't been as horrible as it looks. Sure he's the complete opposite of Tex as far as power goes, but he does drive in runs, and his average isn't bad. He's also an underrated fielding first baseman. That also helps.

But yeah, if they even had a LITTLE more offense, and I mean scoring like 4-4.5 runs a game, then yeah.. I think they'd be near the top. Good thing about the East is EVERYONE has problems.

I also don't really understand the supposed thing about the Braves might deal Escobar. He isn't a superstar but guy is good. Could make the arguement he's the second best SS in the east behind Hanley now that Rollins has fallen off the map, although harder to compare Reyes supperior offensive v.s. Yunel's supperior defense.

Not that many SSs out there better than him. One of the best gloves with a basically .800 OPS = very win.

    also some nats fun

    * When the Nationals have a lead entering the sixth inning, they are 14-10. When tied entering the sixth, they are 2-11.

    * When the Nationals have a lead entering the seventh, they are 18-8. When tied entering the seventh, they are 1-12.

    * So, we can say this: When the Nats are leading or tied entering the sixth inning, they win 43.2-percent of the time.

    * For the sake of comparison, I added up the totals of every other team in the NL East. Those four teams -- the Braves, Marlins, Phillies and Mets -- win 74.7-percent of the time in which they lead or are tied entering the sixth.

    * Now the seventh: When the Nats are leading or tied entering the seventh inning, they have won only 48.7-percent of the team.

    * When other NL East teams are leading or tied entering the seventh, they win 76.1-percent of the time.
also I love Cody. So glad we didn't trade him to the Braves earlier in the year

A few nuggets about how huge Cody has been for us these past two seasons:

Since the start of '08, Cody has hit 36 homers. 18 of those have either tied the game or put us ahead, and 16 of those (44.4%) have come in the seventh inning or later.

Cody has also driven in 121 runs in that span, and out of those 121 RBI, 55 of them (45.5%) have come in the seventh inning or later.

Besides taking 2/3 from the Yanks and Blue Jays, the most interesting thing about the Nats is the Adam Dunn HR total vs Nats Wins game. 20-22 right now!

Cool, maybe we can add another Cuban to our roster. We're basically Team Cuba North anyways

Rangers game last night gave me just about every emotion. Pure joy that we were sticking it to them, pure rage at Francisco for blowing a 3-run lead on his save attempt, and a nice thrill with a walkoff HR.

Awesome game and taking 2 out of 3 from the Angels in this one was huge. I think the Rangers might just be in the thick of things for the rest of the season, especially the way they are handling their own division: 15-4 in the AL West. Another interesting thing about division records, the rest of the West has a losing record: 10-14 (LAA), 13-14 (SEA), and 8-14 (OAK).

So happy that I might just be able to follow the Rangers and actually see them involved in a pennant race for the first time in years.

lol, so the Mets are playing a makeup game in Pittsburgh today, and I guess there was a furry convention at the Hotel the Mets players were staying at. They had no idea what was going on, apparently some guys were freaked out, and they're talking about it on the radio now. The announcers are like "I'm told they are furries, F-U-R-R-I-E-S, I have no idea what that is, but maybe if someone wants to google it and get back to us... let us know!"

    OH GOD, LOL

I went to an Indians/Orioles series over a long weekend in Baltimore a couple years ago with my girlfriend. The hotel we stayed in was hosting a middle school cheerleading competition, and walking around downtown Baltimore you would see hordes of young girls in leotards. I half-expected a guy in a huge bear costume to come running out of an alley and snatch one of them up, and I kept chuckling to myself when I thought about that scene playing out. My girlfriend asked what I was laughing at, and I decided to just say "it's nothing" than try to explain Pedobear to a normal, rational person.

EDIT: To avoid double-posting, I have a simple question for the Yankees fans in the house. CC, what gives? He's supposed to be my fantasy team's horse, and he's been bested by Verlander and Jered Weaver. Seriously, wtf?

Hey, Ensam. Your boy Stanton's got some comp.

    19 years old in AA:

.937 OPS (prior to tonight, he went deep again giving him 5 in the last week?)
    Oh and he's sporting a 9BB/6K ratio.

I'm fucking amazed. Atlanta actually swept a series. I was worried my prediction would come true there, but that play that McCann and Gonzalez played was fucking awesome. Then Diaz driving in McCann/Jurrjens, and Anderson with his first pinch-hit homer? Fucking win.
