Round and Round Halladay goes... where he stops... nobody knows! From Jon Heyman of SI:

halladay preferences (according to pal): 1. win. 2. quiet. 3. spring in fla.; thinks he'd OK Phil, Stl, NY, Bos, etc.

Supposedly there's a 4-for-1 deal from the Phillies that Toronto likes. They don't want to trade to Boston or NY unless they take Wells' contract (not likely)

I'd say Philly or he goes nowhere, personally.

Brewers trade 2 prospects for D-backs 2B Felipe Lopez. Hits for average, can lead-off (hopefully ends the nightmare of fucking Jason Kendall leading off) and fills the Ricky Weeks void.

    All good things.

But he's not a starting pitcher. Damnit.

Starting pitching going to be super hard to come by this trade deadline, IMO. So many teams are still in it and need pitching, and the one's who are out of it... are out of it because they have no pitching. The Phillies were desperate for a SP and they had to go sign Pedro for christ's sake. That should tell you something.

Giants: WTS Jonathan Sanchez for a second baseman able to get on base.

Who's going to want Sanchez, exactly? I understand he threw a nono and all, but we're talking about a 26 year old (not a 21 year old rook) with a 5 ERA a 1.5 WHIP and a terrible bb/K ratio, in a bad division. I don't think anyone is going to part with a hitting 2B (a premium player) for that.

Hmmm, the brewers just got a decent-hitting 2B....

I'd say the main thing going against Sanchez isn't his age but rather his service time, as he is arbitration eligible after the season and only has 3 years of club control left.

His control shouldn't continue to be as bad as it has been this year, and he was throwing like a #2 at the start of last season. However, he was relieving in '06 and really lost endurance at the end of last season and went down the tank.

Infact, you look at some of his peripherals, and there's a lot to be optimistic about. For instance, he has a FIP of 4.10. Now, FIP is more of a guideline and not something set in stone, some guys are always over their FIP and some are under. But considering some of the flashes he's shown you really have to think he could get to that level.

I'd say the most concerning thing would be his FB rates and the fact he plays in SF. His career GB/FB is 0.97 and it's just 0.82 this year. He'll probably see a rise in HRs, unless he's traded to another pitchers park.

I don't imagine the Giants will be able to find a 2b for him, simply because there isn't exactly a lot on the market especially now with Lopez traded. Is there one who'd even be available besides Freddy Sanchez? And reports now that they're trying to lock Sanchez up. I suppose the Giants could also go down the route though of trading for somebody like Orlando Cabrera or Jhonny Peralta and convert them to 2b, but it's not like they're exactly doing well.

Bad division ur rite. LA: Best record in da bigs(still) SF: 5th best CO: 6th best and a half game off of SF.

Just because it isn't the AL east where 3 are always fighting for the top spot........... :<

Look at his splits before you say something like this.

The Dbacks and the Padres are ranked 18th and dead last in runs scored respectively, and 6 of Sanchez's 14 starts have come against those teams. 2 of his 3 wins are against SD/AZ. His ERA outside of those 6 starts is around 7. So forgive me if I think he'd get absolutely hammered anywhere else. Hell, look at his starts against some of the better teams in the league:

Against LAA: 3.2 innings 10 hits 7 runs
Against CHC: 5 innings 5 hits 4 runs
Against FLA: 4.2 innings 8 hits 5 runs

    Am I missing something?

Freddie Sanchez is exactly who we're going after right now. It's even more likely now that he turned down the Pirates' contract offer.

He is, but he's more of a 3B (to replace Bill Hall permanently hopefully). He was batting 5th alot, not leadoff. They sent Mat Gamel down to make room for Lopez.

Yeah. So close. Sorry the Braves had to go and do something they don't usually do; score.

Yeah well the Reds finally score. 3 runs in the first against the Dodgers.

    Then Owings went Owings.

I'm looking at gamecast. How do you get a bunt double?

Encarnacion must be playing, he can't field shit.
