I still remember the days of the early 90's when Smoltz used to have his therapist sitting behind home plate in the stands. I used to ditch school to stay home and watch opening day Braves games. I was rooting for him and Boston this year, just to see him go out on top. It's unfortunate yes, but he's in his 40's. It's to be expected. Still love him.

I was too, honestly. I felt that if Smoltz was at least mediocre, he'd be able to help the team. Alas.. this had to go the way it did. I don't think he'll pitch again. He's been the type that if he can't go at 100% and play his best, then he doesn't feel he should do it.

Again, I state that Frank Wren is looking a lot smarter for this now. Sure Braves fans hated him for doing it... but it was the right thing to do.

I feel bad for everyone that got last night's Sox/Yankees game last night on MLB-N. Tonight's game has been terrific, especially from the 5th inning on.

So, looks like we claimed Alex Rios off waivers. We have until Tuesday to work out a deal with Toronto. Huge contract, but would solidify an OF position we've had problems with since 2005 after Rowand was traded to PHI (CF)

I've always liked Rios, but his declining numbers are worrisome

What a way to make a major league debut for Junichi Tazawa. He's the last pitcher in the Sox bullpen in the 14th inning in a scoreless game in Yankee Stadium... facing his countryman, Hideki Matsui. He got Matsui out, got into a little jam, and got out of it. This game's in the 15th now, and it's only going to go as long as Tazawa holds together.

Also, YES seems to love randomly cutting to Joba and Papelbon. Who's got the crazier pitcher, the game within the game.

this. as fun as the game was to watch, as incredible as some of those plays were (especially Drew, jesus christ), it doesn't really..mean anything. it's still tacked on to the L in the standings. I'll just wait for October and if we're there, sick. if not, rebuild, try again. sucks at the beginning of the year, our pitching staff was vaunted by everyone and their goddamn mother, but now it's our biggest problem.

That was the worst game I've ever watched in my life. We were winning 5-3 in the 8th and ended up losing 10-5. Hell, we gave up 5 runs in the 9th and the only hit was a leadoff bunt single. 5 fucking errors for us in the game! It was a fucking pathetic effort.

I missed the yankee's game well because it wasnt on tv here was sad about that, but I did manage to catch lindsecum loose another decision due to his fantastic team ;(
(sorry phoibaba). I wasnt suprised a-rod hit the walk off, he was due for a hr and what a good spot to do it in, he was also due a clutch hit against the sox.
