Supposedly the nationals aren't moving from a 9.5mil sighning bonus like the one Mark Texiera got from texas a few years back, But that won't be the record sighning bonus Boras is looking for. If the Nationals don't sighn him they will be the laughing stock of baseball for not being able to sighn thier #1 pick two years in a row, and not to mention the fact that Strasburg is being touted as the best pitching prospect ever ( which is dumb to me cause many of those have failed in the past).

Im guessing 15mil-18mil sighning bonus if the nationals are smart, it will atleast show they offered the largest sighning bonus to a #1 draft pick so the fans wont riot, it will only lower boras's and Starsburgh image if they dont accept it. ( if boras even had an image that is).
On topic, I think it would be silly for the Nationals to push too hard on Strasburg if it makes them unable to help sign anyone to surround him with. If he doesn't sign then the Nationals are guaranteed pick 1a next year and combine that with pick 1, most likely, I think they wouldn't be doing too badly not to sign him. Having the possibility of having the first two picks in the draft puts the impetus on the Strasburg camp, I think.

the thing is why pick the guy if you know what his agent was looking for, it's kinda bad when two years straight you can't sighn ure first round pick. and next years #1 guy coming out of HS everyone is calling a once in a life time hitter lol what if washington misses on both of em >.<.

Yeah he always makes it interesting though.

I can't wait till Brett Myers is back and hopefully closing. Lidge seems to have lost his slider and is relying on the defense to bail him out. At this point whenever he comes in I just hope he throws a high fastball every pitch so players chase and ideally ground out. His slider isn't hitting his spot half the time he throws it.

I was talking to my friends tonight (who are mostly Yankee fans) and I'd give anything to see a Yankees vs. Phillies World Series. I'd love to go even though it would be at least $800 for a standing room only ticket in Philly or a home equity loan to get a ticket in NYC. In Philly, I could picture them opening up the Eagles stadium to let fans watch it on the big screens there because you know there would be thousands of fans around the stadium.

I'm telling you he's hurt but just won't admit it. His Slider has almost no movement, he can't throw strikes, and the velocity on his fastball is down a few mph. I also think he's mentally shaken, which according to a lot of people that have followed his career say he's prone to.

Last year he was always able to get ahead of hitters, which allowed him to throw his slider out of the zone and get people to chase. He can't do that this year because he's falling behind in the count and hitters aren't chasing it.

I'm glad we pulled it out last night. The Braves have completely owned us so far this year and it eases my mind knowing they can only gain 1 game at most on us this weekend.

An interesting thing happened too, Jair Jurrjens threw a first pitch strike to every single batter he faced in the first 5 innings. That's pretty damn incredible in my opinion.

Lidge isn't locating his fastball very well and it's making his slider be a non issue unless a batter is really jumpy. He hit 97 on the gun last night, but the location was completely off. If I'm a hitter then I'm sitting on Lidge to get a slider up because he needs to throw a strike. I think his confidence has a lot to do with it and I'd believe he's got some nagging injury. Rich Dubee talked recently about pitching while injured and how it completely changes the way you approach the game, how you through, and where you're getting your power from.

Brad Penny is pitching. In which inning would you like the Rangers to score seven runs? I'm sure he'll be happy to oblige.

Yesterday, the Braves lose a game that was there for the taking, but Blanton pitched damn well. Today, the Bravos lose McLouth due to that hammy again, Prado goes out with heat symptoms, and they still get to Lidge in the 9th. Thanks, Charlie.

Is Phily really going to let him close the rest of the year? Maybe they can slot Myers in there when he comes back, because right now, Lidge is just too dangerous to keep out there with a one run lead.

And neither game on a channel i can watch. As long as the Braves pitching staff stays relatively healthy, i'm not too worried about the every day starters. Bobby's been playing everyone everywhere all year anyways. We should have Hudson back soon also. Kind of a nice problem to have. 6 starters!

These non-local announcers always seem to be against the Phillies. Makes it less fun to watch.

Rangers pulled off a much needed win tonight, in style as Kinsler had a solo home run in his first game back and the rangers set a new team record 8 stolen bases. Got to see alot of our youngsters tonight with Holland getting the start and Felix pitching a solid 8th and 9th for the save. Andrus did stunning and Julio Borbon was the player of the game 4 for 5 and 2 RBI
