Why is the Cubs offense so failtastic? They've put up a total of 3 runs against 3 of the worst pitchers the West has to offer. Is it too much to ask you guys help us out a little?

You mean giving regular at-bats to Sam Fuld, Jeff Baker and Aaron Miles isn't going to produce runs?

AJ Burnett does a pretty good Brad Penny impression.

Tazawa is a Dice-K clone. Lets a billion people on base, and somehow they never score. Amazing.

Hahaha. I noticed that. Honestly, the kid's got some stuff. He was thrust into the Majors in a difficult situation and has handled it fairly well.

LOLiver Perez. I've never seen a pitcher get lifted mid at-bat before. I don't think.

Joe Girardi did it earlier this year in a game against the Sox. I don't remember who was pitching, but there were two outs in the eighth. After the first pitch of an at-bat, Girardi went out and brought in Mariano to finish it.

Damn Lidge can't get a break.

First Howard Buckner's an easy grounder that results in a triple, then Bruntlett boots 2 easy grounders.

LOL as I type this Bruntlett gets an unassisted triple play.

That was ridiculous. It looks like Lidge is going to get shit on again and then ... I was offered a ticket to this game if I could get up to the city. I regret missing out.

I couldn't believe my eyes on the triple play, it happened so fast I thought it was just a double play then saw him going to tag the guy going to second. That shit doesn't even happen in video games. And to boot it was the first ever unassisted triple play to end a game in MLB history. Good for Bruntlett though, he hasn't had very good games this year.

It was the second, I think the Baseball Tonight guys said the first unassisted triple play to end a game was by the Tigers in the 1920s. Regardless, it's a hell of a way to kill a ninth inning rally.

And the Cubs finally got a win today, even though their offense is still sleepwalking. Six runs in four games in LA, and Soriano was out of the lineup again. I did like using the outfield of Fox-Fuld-Fukudome, that seems to be the best combination of offense and defense right now, plus when they lose I can just say "FFF..."

Thank god for the Mets trying a double steal or that ball would have sailed right in between Bruntlet and Rollins. Seems like pretty stupid baseball to attempt a double steal with no outs to me, but whatever I'll take it.

It's also kinda funny thinking that if Chase was in the opportunity most likely would have never presented itself for the triple play because he wouldn't have missed the first two balls that he bobbled.

Just read about it on wiki, Tigers were the first but Bruntlett is the first in the NL. Was epic either way though.

Yankees now lead the majors with 84 home runs on the road. Guess they still hit okay without the wind tunnel and short porch and all that

Ah, yep. So tied. Still, shows they don't need NYS to hit home runs any more than the Phillies need CBB

I don't think anyone was silly enough to say that the Yankees absolutely needed NYS to hit homers did they? How are Damon and Jeter doing away from home though? I'm not 100% sure, but don't each have twice as many homers at home as they do away? Guys like Tex, A-Rod, Cano (who's shown power), Matsui (when he's not hurt).. they don't need the help of a stadium like that, but for guys who were never power hitters, NYS certainly helps.

Either way, the Yankees are a powerhouse. Whoever argues that is insane. I just don't think it's fair to act like it's a big deal.
