Sounds like the Braves of last year. Their record in 1-run games was terrible.

Contreras has pitched his last game for the Sox as a starter (lol, what was the hold up?), will be moved to the bullpen indefinitely. Which means he won't be given the ball but maybe 2-3 more times this year by all counts.

Rumors around Chicago that Peavy might start Saturday, and that he's personally telling Kenny [Williams] that he's ready to go.

Give me a reason to keep watching what you've assembled Williams, and that 2010 isn't all I really should care about

Edit: Confirmed rumor. Don Cooper (Sox pitching coach) gives the thumbs up for Peavy to end his rehab stint in Charlotte, and is scheduled to start Saturday vs. the Yankees, as long as Peavy says he's ready. Will know more tomorrow

That should be a pretty exciting game. Anyone know who's projected to be going for the Yankees on Saturday?

Hopefully this will be a better pitching match-up than the Beckett/Sabathia 'duel of the aces' that ESPN touted it to be? lol. Thanks for not living up to that, Beckett.

The real "duel of the aces" will be Sept. 27th. During the 5th inning of the Sox/Yanks game, the two radio teams will swap members. Joe Castiglione will hold down the WRKO broadcast while being accompanied by Suzyn Waldman. Meanwhile, Dave O'Brien will carry his heavy pipes to the Yankee booth to do the inning along side John Sterling.

This Giants/Rockies game is one of the weirdest I've ever seen. The Giants are out of bench players and so we've had two relievers hit for themselves. The first one, our closer Brian Wilson, bunted into a double play (what the fuck?) and then Brandon Medders came up later in the game with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a rope that the third baseman just barely got to. Two outs in the bottom of the 13th right now.

And we get two triples in the top of the 14th to score 3 runs! Who the hell would have called that?

I would too. They're trying to play themselves out of the wild card. D: Also, you guys suck for not helping Atlanta get some games back.

As a Twins fan, I'd love if I could rage at a single pitcher.. but yeah, it's pretty much all of them. =\

    So..Santana might need elbow surgery.

He's averaging 90mph on his fastball this year, down from 93 in 2006. I'd like to say this was a surprise, but the concerns were always there.

Why the Mets let him pitch with a bum elbow since the ASB, I don't know, these cats are fucking retarded.

I refuse to go through 100 pages of text, but I KNOW I called out his velocity being down and people disagreed with me

lol, and remember when Rick Peterson said Santana was injured and everyone called bullshit, including Santana himself, and made Rick look like a moron? Yeah... oops.

There's been questions about his degradation for quite awhile, even before he was traded from the Twins. It doesn't seem like anyone involved really cared.

I'll laugh if he needs surgery.

Yeah, most people didn't care because it really doesn't matter what his velocity is as long as he maintains the same difference in speeds between his fastball and changeup. But still, you don't just lose 3-4 mph of velocity in your prime unless something is off.

For as much as Cashman got killed at the time, it seems he picked the right horse (CC)

Rangers/Yankees tonight. It's go time, need a big rebound after the Tampa series and Millwood really needs to rebound as well. I'm worried he is running out of gas right now, or his pulled ass is still bugging him more than he is letting on.

This series could be a good one, looking forward to it.

The pitching matchups are actually pretty even except for the last one. Joba/Milwood, Holland/Pettite, Nippert/Burnett.

Bad news for the Rangers is that the Yankees were supposed to cool off on a 10 game road trip with a west coast swing, and they finished 7-3 and now have had 2 off days in the last 5 days after playing 32 games in 33 days. Rested A-lineup tonight, and back home where they have the best record in baseball. Texas needs lights-out pitching, the Yankees obviously can score tons of runs in their ballpark, and Jeter/A-rod/Matsui/Cano are all red-hot. As good as the Texas hitters are, I don't think they can win a slugfest with the Yankees right now.

Good news for Texas is that this series means more to them than it does to the Yankees. Joe will be less likely to push Mariano/Hughes/Joba/etc so a close game may give Texas the edge. Hamilton looks like his old self, and Kinsler is hot too.

Anyway, should be fun. It'll be nice to know that win or lose, we hurt the Red Sox
