So, Reality, how likely is it that the White Sox turn down Dye's extension for next year? Are they going to have a spot for him? He'd look pretty good in orange and black for a year >.>

    fuck you brill.

hockey is one thing, but this is quite another!
lol hey Abraxas. So I'm thinking we're going to need two different hockey threads this season. One for NHL and one for the Olympics. And Brad Lidge still sucks. Especially against the Pirates for some reason

He actually had 4 coming INTO this season, nearly matched it in 5 months.

We also didn't attempt one stolen bag against the shitfest of Varitek/Martinez at Fenway. Half-assed small ball!

Gardner should be coming back soon in the next 2-3 weeks it looks like, so hopefully Yankees will be having some more steals on their hands with his speed.

To be fair, there wasn't much reason to swipe a bag when you score 12 runs in 5 innings in one game, get blown out in the next, and then hit 5 home runs in the finale...

read an amusing post on espn concerning the met's injury woes. With Perez going down, the current payroll on the DL right now stands at a shade over 82 million. The Met's DL is currently higher then I think 16 or 18 MLB teams rightnow.

You know, no one wanted Adam Dunn this offseason, he was unsigned through most of the winter iirc. All he's done with Washington this year is hit .285 (very un-Dunn like) with 33 homers, 89 RBIs, and near the lead league in walks. I'm sure there was someone else who wouldn't have minded him, especially in the AL where you could DH him.

Ryan Madson hitting 99 on the gun ... Gives up a game tying bottom of the 9th home run to the Pirates. His 5th blown save. Had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in the top of the 9th. Not getting the job done at all.

I heard that the D-backs put their closer on waivers.. maybe the Phillies will make a run at him. They're clearly the best team in the NL right now, but they can't afford to have a weak bullpen. Blowing games against the Pirates is not a good sign...

The Phillies have a really bad history of playing up and down to teams. It can be maddening. They make Johnny Cueto and Dan Haren eat shit, then some Nationals scrub will look like Cy Young. Though as I say that Ryan Howard clobbers a 3 run bomb. It's a huge concern. I hope they make a move. Ruben Amaro Jr. has been really good at getting them what they need so far.

Walk off HR for Ortiz. Now the Yankees just need to hold their seven run lead, and we'll be in business.

Chad Qualls? I haven't heard anything about that. I have heard, though, that the Brewers put Trevor Hoffman on waivers and he's obviously a perfect choice for the Phillies.

I wonder if Cole Hamels would be giddy to pitch with his hero on the team.

No reason not to. You only have him signed for 1 year and it's not like you guys are going to make the playoffs this year anyway. Might as well try to get something for him.

According to Theo Epstein in a radio interview a couple of years ago, virtually every player in the league gets put on waivers in August. The vast majority have nothing happen, so you don't hear about them.

I could see Hoffman going to the Phillies. Outside of starting pitching, which they addressed, their bullpen is the next downside and if they fix that, I think they'd be the best team in the National League. I had Majors a second ago, but I think the Yanks are the best in the Majors, Haha. Honestly, I don't even think it's close.

When the Yankees play like this, they're nearly impossible to beat. Nippert is at 50 pitches through 2 (despite only giving up 1 run on 2 hits), and Burnett has 5Ks in 3 perfect innings.

Obviously who knows the outcome of the game, but when the Yankees get even decent starting pitching its rare to see them lose. Their bullpen has been that good, and really turned around when Hughes went there.
