Madison Bumgarner got called up today, some people are speculating that it's because Lincecum is hurt and won't be able to pitch tonight so MadBum may get the start. This could get interesting....

The past 14 hrs have been solo home runs for the phillies.
Now if they could get any hits other than hrs it'd be nice
Mr. "White Sox Don't Need This Guy" Nick Swisher just hit his 2nd homer of the game, including the game winner.
25 homers on the season, last time I checked that's about 25 more than Wilson Betimint has on the year.
Just sayin!
That game winner was... well. I won't say it. You know what's coming..
He has 20 homers on the road, he's entitled to Yankee Stadium cheapie.
90 wins alreadyIf this team exits in the first round again this year, I think it's going to shave a few years off my life.
i wish the division was more close since i have tickets to the last game of the season, i have a feeling almost all the starters will be out of the game.
God can the Phillies please go to Madson in the 8th and Myers in the 9th?
I seriously don't understand how Lidge can go from the best closer in baseball to the worst closer so quickly. How much longer is Chawlie going to keep using Lidge before he realizes that it was actually Dr. Samuel Beckett (Scott Bakula) who was closing last year in place of Lidge?
When did this happen?
Oh and..

rangers pulled off both much needed wins in the double header yesterday. lets see if they can get the win today. Elvis Andrus def has to win rookie of the year the way he is playing right now. He has an 11 game hit streak and played some amazing defense last night

Clearly you've never been in New York or around Yankee fans after Rivera blows a save.
"HE'S DONE"
"I haven't trusted Rivera since 2001"
"Fire Cashman for signing this bum"
Yet he always turns it around. Lidge is no Rivera, and his performance has definitely been bad, but the Phillies are in the position to keep throwing him out there to see if he can straighten himself out. If he's still this bad going into October, you put in someone else. I think it's that simple. I didn't mean to suggest it's not worth worrying about, just that they have a substancial division lead over an inferior opponent which grants them enough time to figure out where he's at.
if they were games behind then surely it would be rested on Lidge's shoulders. its still not so easy to rest assured just because the Phils are 6 games up.
i was agreeing with you. but what i meant was its easy to say "keep throwing him out there" if its not the team you root for. last year I was always confident of Lidge. there were times i wouldnt have been suprised if he blew one or two. but even then, when you saw him out there, philly fans had a sense of ease when he was pitching. this year its the complete opposite. when he goes out there its time to be nervous
Rangers get the sweep. Now time for the Sox and Angels to help us out and fail tonight.![]()
If Mo blew 10 saves in one year, New York would cease to exist.
this is still ridiculous, of the phillies past 17 home runs, 16 have been solo. Just goes to show you how one dimensional they are as a team. home run or no runs.
Thank you d-backs. One of the first times I've been cheering them on in a while.
Phils lose 7-8 in the 9th. Joe Blanton didn't seem to happy with the homeplate umpire as he stared at him while he walked off the field.
Phils load the bases in the 9th, Matt Stairs at bat, figure "Here comes 0 for 31" then bam, grand slam. Glad to see he seems to be back. J-roll gets on base, advances to 2nd on a wild pitch and Victorino brings him home. Utley singles to first, Shane on 3rd, Howard gets doubled up and that's pretty much the ball game.
Lidge came in to the 8th inning, you can clearly see the difference from when he is closing. He did almost give up a home run but stranded a man at third. So hopefully he can build his confidence back up and be the closer he is capable of being.
Good to see some of the things are getting worked out. A shame they lost though because that was one hell of a 9th inning.
with the way the ump was calling the game last night, he was probably staring at him to tip his cap. his strike zone was huge
