AL Central is up for grabs this year, however I do like our youthful core going into the next 5-10 years, and Kenny Williams has been pretty good with picking up reclamation projects (Quentin) or possible future diamonds in the rough (Alexei Ramirez, possibly Dayan Viciedo)

I don't know, the Mets were poised to take the division last year before they lost Wagner, and they've made quite a bit of improvement in their bullpen, especially with the K-Rod pickup and dumping that failure Heilman. Friend of mine would just stop watching whenever they brought Heilman in to pitch, because he knew exactly what was coming.

Granted, they pulled the same shit at the end of the 2007 season too, so I really have no idea with the Mets.

Surprised dombrowski didnt pick up a couple BP arms this offseason, and a SP (the dude is loaded), if they did pick up pitchers they weren't big signings afaik, that team is just a few pieces away from contention again imo

Reds are going to win the NL Central after Volquez pitches 4 perfect games and Bruce hits 90 HRs.

I'd like to thank Kenny Williams for dropping Swisher onto our laps.

I'm fucking perplexed as to why Detroit didn't bother fixing its rotation. That shit is a disaster.

As an avid White Sox fan, I can speak for the majority of our fanbase when I say, Enjoy the Swisher Show. Because it gets fucking old real fast.

Besides, we had no room for the guy on our team, as he wasn't replacing Dye or Quentin, and he's a terrible CF

I still don't really get why the Yanks grabbed Swisher.

Utility player, since we let Wilson Bettimint go, and Swisher can play 1B and all the OF positions. He has decent power, bad stats last year but he's still on the right side of 30.. and came cheap.

I actually think they will have a pretty good year. Anyway some bold predictions for this season.

    1. Royals win 75+ games and finish out of the basement for once
    2. Reds will be this years "surprise" team and seriously compete for the NL Central crown
    3. Dodgers will be the other "surprise" team, as in expected to be good but will end up sucking
    4. Aaron Harang will bounce back and win 17+ games
    5. Brad Lidge will break Eric Gagne's consecutive save record
    6. Albert Pujols will be outed as a steroid user
    7. Rays win the AL East again
    8. Ryan Howard wins a Gold Glove (j/k, not even I'm bold enough to predict that)
    9. A Rod wins the AL MVP award
    10. And finally......... Mets won't choke this year and will make the playoffs

Wtf.... God the Braves are fucking STUPID. I hate them being my team sometimes. What the fuck is the head office thinking going after Griffey? I love Griffey.. when he was healthy, and when this was before he went to Cincy. :/ Don't bring him to Atlanta! Let him go back to Seattle! I'd rather him be in a Mariner's uniform as that'd be cool. I'm not even going to try to be a homer and make excuses for Griffey working out. From this article, I'm reading he'd be willing to split time with Diaz (who hits lefties well), but that's still not good enough for me. I'd rather have Garrett Anderson from the Angels than Griffey because he doesn't have the same pop anymore. Bleh.

I don't know dude, with the upgrades both the Yanks and the Sox made, AL East is going to be evil this year, assuming they can stay healthy that is.

If he starts choking again this year, his only saving grace is that there will be 4500 fewer people booing him in the new stadium. That being said, he'll have Tex batting before or after him this year, which should help.

All lolRoyals aside, they might have one of the fastest, best defensive outfields in the game. DeJesus and Crisp could almost cover an outfield without a third guy.

As for the the Rays, they've made some solid improvements (Pat Burrell's bat, having David Price all year, etc.) The key for them is going to be guys like Garza and Shields. If they can have years like last year, and if Kazmir gets going in the right direction again, then they will have a rotation solid enough to keep them in a race with NY and Boston. I forget where I was reading an article about it, but at least one national writer made the statement that the three best teams in baseball are all in the AL East. This is going to be an exciting summer for that division, no doubt.

I think it'd be arguable that the NL East and AL East will be sending the teams to the WS this year.

    AL East now three-headed monster
The top three teams in the division? An argument could be made that, on paper at least, the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays might be the top three teams in the game.

Yeah, the Red Sox say that now since the Rays beat them in the ALCS, lol. You don't want to say you got beaten by a lesser team or something. Would make you look bad.

I don't think the NL East gets a team in the World Series. It might be the Cubs year... year to lose in the WS.
