it will take alot more than that to get Philly to be upset at the umpiring. they have had almost every call go their way. and these are plays that really helped them win the series'

I think Game 3 will go a long way to determining who will pitch for Philly in Game 4. If the Yanks win it will almost definitely be Lee, but if the Phils win I would guess they would push him back to Game 5 to give them a better shot at taking 2 of 3 at home.
Who knows though, Cholly seems to manage a lot with his gut feelings so you're never totally sure what he's gonna do.
Not even worth defending the point Ceph, we just cant win as Yankees' fans. They lose its "omg they choked, they are over-rated, etc", they win and its cause the umps gave us bogus calls (hi2u first base ump last night with a retarded blown call), and if there aren't any questionable calls to give us shit for they will just resort to the tried and true "omg highest payroll, bought championship, etc".
with the angle the ump was at first and the way howard turned his glove to catch it, there was no way you could tell it was a short hop. it looked like it was caught in the air
what gave it away that it didnt get caught was the fact howard threw it to rollins rather than tag 1st base
The funny thing is the second base ump was looking right at the play, and why they didnt cuddle huddle I have no clue.
reporter: does this feel more like a world series as compared to last years vs. the rays?
rollins: when we get back to philly, it will
zing!
I don't get it, how is that a zing?
TBH, the way the Yankees have been hitting in this series, if both would have somehow been safe, it would have been bases loaded with 1 out and Tex woulda probably popped up and arod would have struck out. Blown called just shaved off 5-9 minutes of playtime off the game. Yankees fans had to know the inning was fucked when Jeter bunted away the first out.
Blown calls are getting a lot of press this post season, but Selig is still adamant about no instant replay on anything but homeruns. Blown calls have always been there is post season, like the one a few years back at home plate with either the White Sox or Cubs playing (I forget the exact situation, all I remember was seeing something on Sports Center at like 3am while working on a econ project with a chicago fan in his living room), and there was a lot of talk about it for a day and then it was forgotten about. Blown calls in the WS are a bit more important but in the end, like managers say, 99% of the time umps get them right. As a fan though it's in our nature to wanna be pissed when our team gets a blown call against them, just like we love it when a blown call is made against our opponents. All part of the game of baseball.
Manuel just confirmed Blanton for game 4. I'm trying to be excited, but I can't.
Edit: I don't see the harm in having another ump sitting in a booth and watching the replays. The current way that they review homers is fucking retarded.
There shouldn't be room for human error when you have computers graphing pitches, seconds after they're thrown.
Ugh, can't say I like the decision. Lee vs. Burnett game 5 just became a real interesting matchup though.
The point the guys on the radio were making: It's pretty stupid that after a blown call, both teams and 50,000 fans in the building know the call was wrong. The only guys who didn't are the umpires, and are the only ones who matter. Who can argue?
which call are we talking about?
Take your pick, does it really matter? The point is the only people in the stadium last night who didn't know that the ball hit the ground and that Utley were safe were the umpires.
Lol, everyone knows that the only real necessary Ump is the one behind the plate. All the other ones jobs can be done by a guy sitting in front of monitors at the park. Ump union prolly hates the idea of losing their jobs though... but who can blame em for that lol.
Well weather forecasts are calling for a 90% chance of rain tomorrow from the evening into overnight, so the game may get postponed. That would be very good news for the Phillies if it happens.Manuel just confirmed Blanton for game 4. I'm trying to be excited, but I can't.
I wonder if he changes his mind if Pettitte beats Hamels tomorrow. Then you'd be staring at Blanton v. CC and risk going down 3-1 and - assuming Lee wins again - relying on Pedro and Hamels to both win in Yankee Stadium. Game 3 is by the far most important game in this series now.
by the way, the zing was for Rollins indirectly saying how quiet Yank-me stadium was
