I got bored one day in MLB 2k9 and copied my save file and started simulating. Went to sometime around the 2030's. Almost everyone had an ERA in the 1's and batting averages in the .100's. Was pretty funny.
Good thing time is going on the faster side. I think I asked before but is there any way to watch spring training games(even if it's just filmed or highlights)?
March can't come soon enough
I'm really surprised that Cincy would take a $30m gamble on an unproven pitcher when every report this year said they were trying to shed payroll by moving Harang, Arroyo, and maybe Phillips. Why wouldn't you just wait for the amazing FA classes the next two years? Stupid.
Also cannot wait til spring training D:
I'd rather have an unproven expensive pitcher than continue to pay Arroyo for getting carpal tunnel.
He's a weird case, I remember him giving up 10 runs in the first inning, and then going out and throwing a 3 hit shutout later in the month. He's very hit or miss. And although I HATE judging a pitcher based on wins, he's won 14 games or more 3 of 4 years he's been on Cincy when they've been a bad team. Throws 200 innings every year and posts an ERA+ above 100 consistently.
He might not be worth the money, but you can argue he's better than paying 30m to a guy who may never be a successful major league pitcher.
Eh, it's Cincinnati, I'm just glad we signed someone.
Although the ESPN coverage is very lol because it's the Reds signing him compared to Boston/NY/NY etc.

God damn. Let's hope Dusty is gone before then.
The Braves are the only team that's shown interest in Damon and they have 30 guys battling for three outfield spots.
If he comes back, it'd give the Yankees a lineup where every starter (except Granderson) posted an OPS+ over 120 last year. Holy shiz.
I can't see him taking the paycut it would require to fit into the Yankees plans. Cashman is already in his "sign bench players" mode, I don't see Damon coming back unless he practically plays for free (by Yankee standards). Gardner in the 9 hole doesn't bother me as much considering the 1-8 we'll be throwing out there.
It's scary to think that with A-rod set to be healthy and play a full year, Tex and Swisher comfortable in the lineup and adding Granderson that the Yankee offense might be even better than last year's.
If Damon played this coming year like he did last year, he'd be a nice fit for the Braves. Melky's not a true starter imo. Diaz is good against the splits, McClouth would probably start every day, obviously, and then Heyward when he came up.
I thought the Giants were still showing some interest in Damon, or did that go down the tubes when they signed DeRosa and Huff?
My guess is that when he starts lowering his contract demands, some team will sign him before he gets low enough for Cashman to look at him again. A NL team probably would have signed him already if they weren't scared of playing him every day in the OF. Once he gets down to the 6-7m/year range, it'll be low enough for a team to take that risk.
Worst kept secret ever, but Big Mac admits to steroid use:

I remember where I was when he broke that record, which is astounding considering how young I was.
Maybe he'll get up to 50% on the ballot.
