Heyman says they bid $24 mil on Beltre and close to that on Chapman, and only spent $10m on Sheets, so there would appear to be room in the budget. Oakland's park is ogmhuge though, homers in Yankee Stadium don't even make the track there.

Even if Damon signs at a reduced rate I very much doubt would sign with the yanks out of spite. maybe back with the A's?

Yeah, but they weren't gonna be paying Beltre or Chapman $24 million a year

The only good thing about signing Xavier Nady is that he kinda looks like Pete Yorn. I'm not convinced he'll help us in a reserve role any more than Reed Johnson did, probably for more money than Johnson will make wherever he lands, and where does this leave Sam Fuld for playing time? I would have liked someone who could play 3rd in a pinch a lot more, maybe Russ Branyan? Who knows. Gonna be another long season in Wrigleyville.

Cashman was on a hot streak so I guess he was due for a stinker but... sheesh.

Winn had a down year after what 3 years of .300 BA and some speed. Yea he has next to no pop, but decent in the OF, can hit for average, and can steal you a few bases. Good guy to have off the bench imo.

If he was middle aged I think you'd have a point. But he's 36, no spring chicken. I think when you're that old it's natural for your skills to naturally decline. I don't think he can be counted on to repeat past performances. But we'll see.

Ehh, he's only getting about 2m to play 4th outfielder. If you get a .260BA, half dozen home runs, 30-40 rbi, 10-15sb which I think is doable, especially with the way the ball carries in yankee stadium, you'll get your money's worth. He's also always been one of those do whatever the team asks him to do, never complains kind of guys, so you shouldn't have to worry about any QQ about playing time. After 1600 games, I think he just wants to sniff the post season before considering retirement.

I'm sure his power output is gonna go up a lot going from SFG (bad for LHB) to NYY (goldmine for LHB). And his defense is supreme. He's a good 4th OFer

He has personal beefs with some teams and ranks some of their prospects really bad. BA has 4 Phillies in the top 50, Law has one in the top 100

Doesn't that(the beef/dislike/hatred/whatever you want to call it) pretty much go for the national media against Philadelphia teams for any sport, on any level from whatever/college/professional.
