    Not really, I just think it's funny that the national leader in sports has such an obvious fault. They should take lessons from the MLB network on how to accurately report on baseball instead of spending 95% of the time on big-market teams.

    Also did anyone hear the Blue Jays announcers tonight? They're quoted as saying:

    "Congrats to David Ortiz. Not bad for a guy who drops 20 pounds with steroid testing and doesn't hit a home run untill May 20th"

    On the note of ESPN, they don't really give that much time to their baseball coverage like MLB Network does. I have the MLB-N and basically, unless it's Thursday or Saturday when they have games they air, they come on at around 5 PM Central time and don't stop highlights until Midnight. That's far more time than Baseball Tonight is given, or part of Sportscenter, especially during the NBA Playoffs. So I don't blame them for focussing on big market teams, even if they seem to bury the Yankees. There are a ton of Yankee homers on those programs too though, so.. (Brian Kenny, I'm looking at you)

    Now don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to defend ESPN, but anything they do, someone won't like it, so eh. Either way, if they had seven hours to devote to baseball, I'm sure we'd see highlights of all the teams equally apart from the blowouts.

    Jesus lol

    Bottom 12th, down by one, De Aza hits a ball down the LF line. Eric Byrnes picks it up, rears back to throw....and as he does, the ball slips out of his hand and goes into the stands. De Aza gets to go to third. Next batter hits a single that normally would be an out cuz IF is in, tie game. thank you byrnes lolol. I can't imagine the disgust I'd have if I was a Daimondbacks fan knowing the contract he has.

    Phils/Yanks series this weekend should be exciting. I predict about 6 HR's a game (especially the game Myers pitches).

    With Myers, I have two predictions. Four homers if he pitches well (as I think the Phils will hit one or two), and eight homers if he's bad Myers. That series is gonna have a fuck ton of homers though, lol. Come on Rauuuuuuul. Help my fantasy team out some more.

    I actually expect it to be the opposite. The Phils are getting our front 2 starts (CC and AJ) along with Pettite who can be very tough on the Philly lefties. We're facing a Hamels who is coming around, and Myers can pitch well so... we'll see. I think both teams will be up for playing each other and should be a pretty good series.

    Peavy might be heading to the south side, sources saying he just needs to waive his NTC.

    This could be interesting

    I can't see him not waiving it, dude was pretty adamant about not wanting to go to the AL, how the hell is he gonna play for Ozzie?

    If this does go down, the deal won't be centered around Beckham which is gonna be fucking hilarious.

    I think the NL should have a DH. That way we can put Micah Owings at DH and not have him as a fucking starting pitcher! ARGH

    Agreed. Would love nothing more then Carlos Zambrano as an everyday hitter and pitching every 5th day.

    Peavy rejects proposed trade to White Sox - MLB - SI.com

    Peavy's a little bitch, no surprise.

    Not exactly. Peavy told the White Sox what he wanted.

    Kenny Williams told Peavy's agent to fuck off.

    You sound like you really had some personal feelings in that message, though.

    Peavy's current contract with SD:

    2009 = 11 million
    2010 = 13 million (Might be inaccurate, but I believe it's 13 million)
    2011 = 15 million
    2012 = 17 million
    2013 = TO 22 million/4 million BO
    Full No-Trade protection for 2009 and 2010 (Possibly 2011, but I think it's just this year and next year)
    Limited No-Trade for 2011-2013

    What Peavy's agent said it would take for him to waive his NTC:

    ALL SUITORS: Guarantee to pay all 4.5 years of his contract including the full 22 million for 2013
    ALL SUITORS: Full No-Trade protection for the entirety of the contract
    WHITE SOX ONLY (Due to NL/AL Switch probably) Opt-out clause for any year of the contract after 2009

    The first two demands were what was given to all teams inquiring about Peavy, the 3rd was a White Sox-only demand, due to leaving the national league where "he is most comfortable".
    Williams offered to defer payments of the 22 million 2013 option over predetermined period of years, which would ultimately get Peavy that option but the money wouldn't be there after 1 season. The problem came about when Axelrod started getting specific about the other "Sweeteners", the Opt-Out, and full NTC for the entire contract. Kenny basically said, haha. This is why you're still in San Diego

    Towers really fucked up with that contract. It might not be impossible to move him as it gets closer to July 31st but this is why it's been so difficult.

    Personally as a Sox fan, I was fucking shocked to see us even make a play for him. Although we went hard for Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera the last two off-seasons, so at least our GM isn't afraid of pulling the trigger on some big-name players

    Yeah, his contract is fairly ridiculous.

    And from everywhere I've been reading/hearing things and sources, it seems like Peavy just didn't want to go to South Side. Mainly I think it's due to the fact that he doesn't want to pitch in the AL. A pansy? Probably. Who would want to go from the lolNL West to the AL-Anything?

    Also, what? I had zero personal feelings in that message. o.o;

    More like, going from the best pitchers park in all of baseball next to maybe the Colliseum.. actually PETCO is more pitcher friendly, to the most ridiculous hitters park in the american league, arguably all of baseball, certainly tied with Coors

    His stats would definitely inflate, perhaps considerably

    Yeah, agreed, so that's why I thought it was more Peavy saying "Fuck that" and not his agent's work.

    And yeah, no message meant in what I said. I was just relaying what it sounded like on ESPN.

    The notion that Peavy will go anywhere is absurd at this point. He clearly likes San Diego, and cares nothing for being in the spotlight on a contending team. He's going to make millions of dollars regardless, and this is like the 3rd year in a row there have been talks of him going somewhere and he nixes it each time. The pads want nothing more than to be rid of his contract and every team would want to have him, so if it hasn't happened already it ain't gonna happen in the future. Tired of talk of him getting traded.
