That's funny considering how often he's quoted by reporters as wanting to Play in the Midwest. Especially Chicago

Why didn't he take the trade then? He either doesn't want to move his family or he's mad that people won't roll out the red carpet and restructure his deal. I dunno what else he has to do to make it clear he just wants to stay where he is.
And this weekends HR Derby in New York has begun already with Rollins leading off the game with one.
can you imagine the waves of bad press in chicago if we gave up guys like Poreda and Richard, as well as other names like Omogrosso or Torres, or Ely or any other number of really good prospects, and then Peavy opts out of the 1st or 2nd full year and heads back to the NL?
that contract just screamed "They'd be too stupid to accept my deals", similar to what Steinbrenner offered Torre before he left, it was a way to say "No, thanks" without saying "No, thanks" basically
Breaking news: New Yankee Stadium can't hold onto a fly ball too well.
Granted Tex's homer was a BOMB, but a few of those just should have been outs.
Ruiz's swing that somehow went to the second row was not a power homer swing. The stadium just made it look that way. I didn't think that was a shot at all. And bad pitching? I dunno man. The Yanks averaged 2+ homers in every win of their winning streak, and it culminated tonight with seven total. Balls are just flying out like crazy.
Well the whole argument is that balls are flying out to right, so bringing up a shot that went into left field doesn't make any sense at all. Is the wind blowing out to EVERY direction now? Give me a break.
And yes, bad pitching. Perkins got hammered, and then you're talking about the O's starters who were terrible and relievers who were worse, combined with some of the bad Yankee's middle relief when Chamberlain went down. You also had Mauer and Morneau hit some shots that would have gotten out if the games were played on Jupiter..
I was hearing that supposedly when they tear the old stadium down the airflow will stop balls from flying out so easily, or something like that.
You guys seeing this epic extra inning game between the Nats and O's right now (damn thought I could type that whole thing with keeping a straight face but I was wrong)
Hmm Twins putting up a shitload of runs again and the Mets defense is still horrible.
There's no reason to get snippy, Ceph. And it wasn't just the Twins/O's series where the balls were flying out either. The Indians put up a shit ton of runs too, and on good pitching no less. Also, Burnett performed like shit letting balls fly out like wiffle balls, and Myers always gives up long balls, though I don't know if he gave up all three. I know Wang gave up one of em for the Yankees.
No matter what, just because starting pitching is bad, that doesn't excuse the amount of homers flying out in every direction, but mostly right. How can you defend something like that when there's numbers to back it up? Also, what bad middle relief when Chamberlain went down? Last night? I thought the Yanks middle relief last night performed great to get that win. Or do you mean earlier in the year when he was hurt? Wasn't he hurt? God, I can't even remember right now, and I don't feel like checking any statistic sites, so I'll go ahead and say I'm wrong about the time period he was hurt in.
I do think it's some sort of thing having to do with the stadium across the street. That or the way it's more bowl-like with some of the higher seats. I dunno, but over twenty one games, there's no way that that many homers should be flying over the wall. I have a feeling it could break 20 homers by the end of the Phillies/Yankees series.
Weren't you the same guy who said I should ignore numbers when it comes to A-rod? I'm sorry i don't just look at the numbers and say "yeah, every pop fly in the stadium goes out, the sky is falling!"? Incase you haven't noticed, the Yanks have a lot of left handed power, and they're hitting about the same number of home runs on the road as they are at home.
The Indians put up a lot of runs on good pitching? Are you nuts? That was the 22-4 game that Wang got bombed in.
And yeah, I was talking about last night. Abeldajo gave up like 3 more bombs in relief and let them back in the game. Did the same to the Twins too. The Yankee bullpen outside of Mariano and Bruney has been terrible, and even Mo gave up a couple homers (which were also blasts)
I've watched every inning of every game so far, and I'm not saying that maybe one or two homers weren't pushed out, but the idea that 70 HRs are a result of the wind or some shit is crazy.
The ball that Ibanez hit would have been a homerun at old Yankee stadium when the centerfield wall was 500 feet.
You mean the Polo Grounds?
There's actually air vents in the field, to help dry it when it rains. But steinbrenner puts it on reverse to push the balls out of the stadium.
This is why seats are so expensive.
I said ignore A-Rod's numbers? Honestly man.. I can't even remember what I said. If you've got the quote handy, drop it for me, but if not, it's no big deal.
I know they have a lot of left handed power, and it's not like I think they planned the stadium to be how it is right now anyway. I mean why would you when you go out and get AJ and CC? That'd be nuts.
I'd be willing to bet anything that they have 10+ more more homers at home than they do on the road. I know they came into the night with the most homers in the AL as the Phillies had the most homers in the NL, but I'm not sure on the splits. I bet they have 10+ more at home though which is bigger than 'about the same'. Also, I'd be willing to bet that the Yankees ERA is lower on the road than at home as well. Yes, I know Wang is huge there, but it's just the fact that the new stadium brings a ton more runs. :/
Yeah, I think you're right. The other game that the Indians won big on was against CC, but he went like.. 5.2 IP and only allowed one run. The flood gates opened when the bullpen came in the 7th. My bad.
The fact remains though. I think there's been over 70 homers hit in the new stadium in.. 21 or 22 games? Isn't that sort of crazy no matter how much "bad pitching" there is?
oh woe is me.
Ibanez's homer went 477ft, longest thus far.
