More 9th inning magic for the Yankees are you kidding? Lidge blows another. Looks absolutely lost out there.
Come on Yankees. Finish the comeback. You too Red Sox! The Braves are helping you guys out by beating up on the Blue Jays. Don't let us down.
Hard for me to hate on Brad Lidge after last season, but he's just not the same guy out there. It's upsetting.
The guy is obviously out of whack, why not use your most consistent and best reliever in Madson to close? Puzzling shit.
Eh, good series, Yanks really let one get away there. Phillies needed every bounce/hop/call to get out with 2/3, so I'll take it.
We got fucking beat by Cooch.
Cashman needs to get off his ass and give us a bullpen.
I think it's because Charlie Manuel believes in giving guys a chance to bounce back. Had a bad outing? Get back out there and man up. Unfortunately Lidge is just a mess. He just isn't the same guy at all.
Darn you Yankees. Way to not hold your end of the deal.![]()
Sox have sole possession of first place for the first time this season. Of course, it's still May, and the Jays and Yankees are both within a game, so it really means nothing.
Agreed. It'll be the Sox/Yankees show in the AL East for now. The Blue Jays can't do much with their rotation, but the Rays losing Kazmir doesn't really hurt them as much as you'd think. He's performed like shit the past month anyway, and I'm sure Price will do better than Kazmir has been.
Anyone else happy with how Cervelli is doing as catcher? First year in majors, was batting below .200 in minors and has been hitting at .302 right now. On top of that has been catching most of the games in the winning streak. I'm really gonna be sad to see him down when Posada and Molina are back from DL.
Too small of a sample size to say if he can actually hit or not. I do like his defense and energy, though. I'll be happy when Jorge is back and I never have to see Cash again.
I was at the game and it was amazing. At least Lidge makes it interesting. I think Manuel is just a hard nosed "this is my $12 million closer" type guy no matter what. I was hoping they would keep Madson in, considering how well he was doing...he probably could have saved the game w/o extra innings cause he's got the best changup in the game.
I dunno what they can do with Lidge...goes from perfect to garbage in a few months. Wait for Ramero to be healthy and bench Lidge hoping he get his stride back and wake him up? Hurts to say it but the Phillies can't keep giving up runs and blowing saves waiting for him to become the superhero he's shown he can be.
During this six-game skid for the Jays, except for yesterday, the pitching has been there but the hitting hasn't. It's like last season all over again. I hope the Jays haven't hit the wall already like the Orioles did a couple seasons back.
I'm just chalking this up to another case of teams playing poorly on the road, which seems to be the case for a lot of teams this year.
Dodgers are scaring the shit out of me, 30-15 is a ridiculous record right now and if they can keep that consistent, especially without Manny than they're going to be even more of a juggernaut by the end of the season.
Jay Bruce, Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips all aren't starting today, but the Reds get 3 runs in the first.
2nd stringers are the shit
edit: 4 runs!
but fuck me, I'm starting Wandy in fantasy.
edit2: Aaron Harang lmao! Fucking awesome, going through the batting order in the first.
I think the main fear for the Jays is that they have a lot of guys who have been overachieving thus far. Guys like Scutaro, Hill, Lind, and even Overbay have been well over their career average and power numbers thus far. It was only natural for them to regress to the mean, and it'll be interesting to see if they can maintain their winning ways with less offense.
Simple solution for the Jays, clone Holliday 4 times and have him as all 5 of your starters. Team would be the best team in baseball the whole year if it was possible.
