Let's not forget really underrated guys like Melvin Mora and Aubrey Huff. Sure they aren't stud names, but they put up 20+ Homers a year, and yeah.. they do have a really good offense. If they can get some pitching going, I can see them being a threat again.

I seem to remember having to argue in last year's MLB thread around all-star time about why I voted for Huff for DH in the AL. That guy's been very consistent for awhile now, but no one cares because he's in Baltimore.

Yeah. He's a very underrated guy, which is happy when he drops to like.. the 13 round. 13th round for 25+ Homers 100+ RBI at 1st or 3rd? Yes please.

Still annoys me we traded Adrian Gonalzez for Urbina. The arguement is that it "won" us the world series, but it doesn't work like that lol. Urbina certainly made the ML team better, but we're talking about a MR who pitched a whopping 38 innings.

I mean, Adrian Gonazlez was the 31st ranked prospect via Baseball America going into the year. here is this years 20-40. Imagine any of those guys getting traded for, say, Brian Wilson of the Giants, who's basically putting up the same numbers as Urbina was before the Marlins traded for him (except now Brian Wilson is 29 years old and a FA at the end of the year. And oh yeah, you're not going to offer him arbitration to get the two draft picks to re-stock the prospects. NO SIR!). The deal was absolutely mocked by anyone with a brain cell in 2003, the world series win made the mocking stop, but doesn't change the fact we grossly overpaid for what amounts to a reliever with average skill.

The other counter-arguement was that we had Jason Stokes. Yeah, the guy with a 0.26 BB/K, 27% strike out rate, and .258 average in A+ ball that year. He wasn't going to have contact problems later in his career! Another guy overrated because he mashed HRs in a hitters league with a .350 average even though he struck out all the time and never walked.

But that Adrian Gonzalez, sure he had a 0.56 BB/K and strike out rate of 16%, .307 average in AA in 137 ABs, but after his call up to AAA he sucked, he only hit .216! Even though he had the same exact BB/K and strike out rate in 139 ABs, who cares that he was only twenty freakin one in AAA, sell high on him!

We'll miss him but we've got people to step in.

I wish they'd put Bruce on the DL for sucking in the clutch.
