Jesus holy christ that's a ton. Good thing they are a second half type of team though.

On the note of strikeouts though, I think the Braves have struck out like.. five or six times over the past three games. Last game of the Reds series, they struck out two or three times I believe? Previous game in the one run loss, they didn't strike out any.. which considering Frenchy being in the lineup, it's hard to believe.

Aki, hasn't he cut down a bit on the strikeouts though? I know he's still high, but I remember last year he was making Ryan Howard look like he had ghandi levels of patience at the plate.

Well I think he has honestly, but his BB:K ratio is still ridiculously bad. I guess that's more about Frenchy swinging on the first pitch almost every time. I think I read it was something like 45-50% of the time? But yeah, he's not striking out as much.. he just can't put the ball in play very well.

The Phillies can't buy a win. Ryan Howard comes off the bench and hits a 3 run bomb running a high fever. Madson blows the save again. 5th loss in a row at home.

Chicago Sox score all 8 of their runs off HRs.

    Fucking hate this ballpark.

Saw this.. sort of. Man oh man, what a big blow by the closer. They really need Lidge of old back.

Watching this game on MLB-N. A shame Cueto looked bad around the 5th-ish inning?

I knew they would slump eventually, but to play this bad at home is just awful. I wanted to get my dad tickets for a game for Father's Day but fuck that if this is the kind of play you can expect.

    Hope you didn't sit JJ

Great game, Burnett is so sick when he's on, but NL CY young winner ftw

and man, the NL east is really, really, really bad.

Against non-division teams, the top 4 teams (Phils, Braves, Mets, Marlins), are 71-90

    Against the division, they're 65-44

Thanks to a nats team that's 6-27 inner division.

If it wasn't for the Nats, we could be looking at, like, a Cardinals circa 2006 playoff situation haha.

Because spending a day at the ballpark with Dad is only enjoyable if your team wins.

My dad doesn't really like baseball. lol. The majority of my growing up was at NASCAR races. And I'm also close to broke. I wouldn't want to shell out for decent seats if I thought the team was going to get washed out in a heartbreaker.

I really really don't understand how a team can be so great on the road and suck so hard at home.

Totally agree about the NL East, and nope.. I started Josh Johnson. I said "Dude's my ace, gotta stick with him." and it paid off, so woo.

They have 9 blown saves this year compared to only 1 all of last year (by Tom Gordon).

Last year they were something like 79-0 when leading after 8 innings, this year they've already lost 6 games when leading after 8.

Howard's bomb was pretty impressive considering he was bathed in sweat and looked like he was ready to pass out the whole at bat. Why the hell Madson would throw a fastball down the heart of the plate with a 1-2 count is beyond me, I could have hit that ball out. I always thought Madson could be a good closer, maybe it really is as hard to go from setup <-> closer as people say.

At least the rest of the division blows, and I can take heart in the fact that the same thing happened to us last June and didn't hurt us in the end.

Gogo Braves losing to a walk-off because Matt Diaz can't swing at a ball near the strikezone. Maybe if he were 8 feet tall, that'd be a good ball to swing at. Le Sigh. 2-2 against the Pirates, 1-2 against the Reds and O's, 1-2 against the BoSox.. I think I mentioned the Braves possibly winning 3-4 on this road trip? Lol.

Time to get raped by the BoSox and Yanks, Bravos.

Braves played extremely well today though, outhit us by 14-10. Was on my seat for the last half of the game after it was tied, had to change the channel when Papelbon loaded the fucking bases in the 9th with two outs.

5-8 isn't terribad if the Braves had to play NYY too, but they didn't. So either way.. here's hoping for some better situational hitting on the homestand.

If Jimmy didn't get called out on that terrible call, Shane's double probably would have scored him. So I chalk this one up as a tie in my book. Unfortunately my book doesn't matter.
