FFB mages gather!

Or at least, in theory they do. I swear to fucking god I've only ever seen like 2-3 rogues out of dozens that actually use it on pulls and on every cooldown.

Say what you guys want about FFB spec but I still love it. It's not a huge dps loss to go with it instead of arcane or fireball. Besides I usually pug and I'm always in the top 5 dps if not at the top still.

And ya it is a crit heavy spec. With a boomkin, scorch up, and ffb glyph I have 52% fire crit.

The better your gear gets the bigger the difference is. At my level of gear the difference between FFB and Fireball is huge.

52% crit sounds like you're probably fully deck'd I think my crit was around 35% in raids. Being that I had just hit level 80 and only had 2 naxx pieces.

ya what other people have said, FFB is currently the third best DPS spec for mage right now. Totw/fireball followed by arcane are better DPS but it takes a lot better gear to run totw/fireball. My mage is spec'ed arcane atm, really fun spec to play.

Go Arcane or go home imho. I'm constantly at the top of the DPS charts and often coming in first or second place. ABx3 -> Abarr until MB procs. It's not difficult really if you're particularly vigilant in keeping your MP pool up. FFB and TtW are decent but I didn't like either when I gave them a shot. Arcane gives you more mobility too, which is nice for fights like Heigan.

I could be very wrong but his thing seems biased/broken/flat out wrong, as he has an arcane build spamming frostbolts w/ occasional AM according to the cast sequence view >.>;

Also don't forget to include relevant buffs in your calculations, especially Replenishment since it's assumed by blizzard's tuning of the raid environment.

I think it may have to do with the length of the fights it's thinking about, and shitty mana return because I've put no raid buffs in

I use Rawr, its pretty damn accurate and you can set it for just about anything.
