Trolling, retarded position, very provable labels, which have the handy side effect of being able to be used by anyone, especially when you don't like what someone is saying. I'm sure you already know that's there's no way to ever prove that i'm trolling unless you are either psychic or my posts are absurd enough to be assumed as trolling, and with the latter you're still doing nothing but assuming.

And as for the previous post, i actually do have something to say about that. Am i to understand that, in your value based judgement, it is better to have an unarmed civilian potentially die, than have a cop injured (though not dead). I'm speaking of situations where there is only one dissident and more than one cop, and the dissident in question seems insane, due to either drugs or a mental health issue (schizophrenia), and attacks the cops, even though he is unarmed, is it okay then for the cops to use a taser that could potentially kill him just to avoid potential physical injury, even though their numbers assure them the restraint of the insane person?

Seems regrettable that a person with mental health issues could potentially die from such a thing, when it can be avoided.

By the way, i don't think commenting about how a guy got his head chopped off in a thread about animal abuse counts as trolling or as an intellectual post, whatever that means.

idk about you guys but if a naked, drunken, belligerent man, having completely unknown though processes or motives, runs at me, you bet your ass I'm using the one-upper weapon that is non-lethal 99.9% of the time.

Aurora: do you seriously think the majority of instances where tazers are used, it makes the news? That's a pretty ludicrous statement

Although I agree with your point being that there is room for the police to possibly subdue the suspect without them being seriously injured or injuring the suspect. But who is to say the suspect doesn't break his arm when falling? Or gouge out the eye of an officer, bite off an ear or bite him period giving him one of many infectious diseases? This is where weighing the consequences comes into play, A) Suspect is tazed, falls to ground and is successfully subdued or B) Suspect is tazed and the unlikely chance dies from said tazing. I would go with A being the more likely because as others have said there are a lot more successful tazerings than there are ones that lead to death.

But where I draw the line is that the officers most of the time will subdue them without much side effect potentially stopping possible injuring to themself or suspect by controlling the situation via tazer. Although there are these incidents where shit goes wrong as in all cases and someone dies. Shit can't be planned end of story, and in my opinion the officers did the right thing by using tazers to subdue the suspect although I believe it should be EITHER Taze or Pepper Spray and in fact I think they should do away with Pepper spray all-together.

Chances of a cop getting injured are probably vastly higher than someone dying from a taser, even though i place the higher potential for death over the higher potential for injury, but i see the point.

Anyone hear about the story of the cop who was trying to get some crazy guy down from a tree, and decided to taser him. Except she accidentally pulled out her gun and shot him in the leg?

According to the news, apparently the taser and gun are located very close (or were at least) together on their belt, and have roughly the same weight. Which was the excuse used for the mistake...

Anyhow, anyone know what being tased by a police style taser feels like? I am very curious...

Tasers are less work and pose less risk to the officer. No, I'm not advocating them, that is just the way it is. So of course you see them being used in situations where they should not have been.

It does not help that law enforcement already attracts a certain kind of personality. No, I'm not saying that all officers are like that. But that is what happens.

I do believe that certain parts of the country are terrible when it comes to law enforcement violence. The average person should never be afraid of being hurt or seriously injured by police, yet that is not always the case. More and more you see stories about officials who seem to lack any sort of judgment.

You're telling me that multiple officers can't physically restrain a single naked man? Or a child? Or someone face down on the ground with no weapon? They need to grow some balls. Risk of physical harm? Isn't that in the job description? They're supposed to protect the public first, come home safely second.

Yes, tasers are useful and warranted in some situations, but putting giving them to every cop who was probably bullied as a kid and barely graduated highschool who thinks "wow cool I has a lightning gun hehe" isn't always the best idea.

    And it's "tased" not "tasered"

So speaking of dicks flapping in the wind, mine has been hanging a little left recently, is this a viable option to straighten it out?

never been on the business end of something like what the police carry, but i did get a lower-powered one jammed into my arm once as a joke. i didn't exactly find the humor in it, that shit is no fun. my whole upper arm/shoulder kinda spasmed and locked up for a brief moment. not a good thing to be surprised with in any situation, let alone when you're trying to drive >_>

Our township gets our tasers soon. They are going to be bright yellow and placed in a specific area to not be confused with handguns.

I'll get tased soon I'm sure. Always gotta try out the non-violent options on each other so everyone understands exactly what you're inflicting on another person when you actually do it.

Makes me wonder how many situations police have been involved in brutality and decided to Tase an individual bringing him to the verge of death and then just decided to kill the person claiming it a bad reaction to the taser so he couldn't live to tell the story

Like why you'd kill a burgler if he came in instead of just injurying him, otherwise he can sue you and he will win.

If a team of officers cant overpower one guy, then something is wrong imo. Tasers obviously cause nothing but trouble seeing as a majority of the time, when a taser isused it makes the fucking news because the officers using it were god damned morons. The guy was naked for christ's sake, he didnt have a gun, or a knife, just his dick, fists, and feet. If he had a knife or gun or some sort of weapon, then yes, i wouldnt have minded as much, but FUCK he was naked...
I did a ride along with a officer my senior year of high school. The guy was a seasoned cop to say the least, some 20 or so years on the force. One of the many stories he related to me was a guy hopped up on drugs (dont remember which drug offhand, this was 6 years ago). Was running from the cops completely naked, just like this guy. He ran toward the train tracks, right as the train was coming. The guy fell on the tracks, the train ran over both his legs, cutting both off just above the ankles. The guy was so high, he got up, and CONTINUED RUNNING ON BLOODY STUMPS. Let that sink in for a moment. So yeah, not inconcieveable it would be hard to take down someone that's got more drugs than blood in their system.

As far as tazers? I say let the cops have em. Only touchy feely hippies that have no clue what these guys/women go through are against it. You hear one side of a story, bits and pieces of it at that, and you're ready to jump on the cops? Give me a break. These people have fucking families to go home to every night; if some whacked out shitthead is naked, disobeying the cops's orders and just generally acting nuts, you'd better believe i'd have done the same thing. Good for them.

Why can't people just cooperate peacefully with officers? If an officer tells you to stop and lay down, just do it. Why bother arguing or resisting? I never really understood it. Does anyone actually think that'll help their case, or that they could succeed, or is it just the adrenaline (or drugs) talking?

Either way, it would be nice if a true non-lethal form of subduction could be developed. That way, officers would have a way to keep control of people that can be used on a whim without regulation, and not have any lawsuits or deaths over it.

Why don't they just reduce the voltage of tasers to nonlethal levels? I'm sure there is a threshold voltage to temp disable a man without frying their brains out.

Well, probably, if it goes low enough they risk having it be unreliable. Sometimes it'll paralyze someone, sometimes not. Then it becomes much more risky for the officer to use, and can't rely on it anymore if it only works part of the time, or only on certain size people.
