So here's the deal - I've played 2 weeks! lol

Feel free to call me a newbie. I don't mind!

I'm using my install disc's 30 day trial in March, and then paying membership in the summer! :D Yay!

I've decided to get to WHM 30 this summer so I can do some CoP fun stuff! :O

Here's the gear I've planned out:
Seer's Tunic
Baron's Slops
Seer's Pumps
Mycophile cuffs
Mohbwa Sash
Pilgrim's Wand
Silver Hairpin +1
Saintly Ring
Justice Badge

It took me about a week of searching ffxiah, the wiki, and talking to a friend lots to put this together, but I think it took that long 'cause I didn't know what to do at first. Feel free to say "lol nub, that piece sucks, get this instead!"

Oh also, totally random but, I plan to level goldsmithing (yes, I know it's the hardest one). Can I sign a Silver Hairpin +1?
Like, any HQ item can be signed, right? My LS leader has told me before but I forgot.

I don't mind mean. I know most of y'all are high level and such, so I figured someone would give me crap (Then again, I played Runescape for 5 years, and that game is horrible to newbies). But I figured hey, why not learn from the best?

Those are pretty good gear choices, but one thing to keep in mind is that cures 1-4 are soft capped. That means that once you get to a certain point, adding more MND will do next to nothing for them. As you get higher level, you'll be switching gear a lot.. full MND setup for slow and paralyze, any enmity- gear you can manage for cures 1-4, full mnd for cure 5.. and obviously hmp set while resting. The only decent gear swap you can do at 20 is a Yew Wand+1 while standing, pilgrim's wand only while resting.. you lose TP when you switch your main weapon, but as a white mage you shouldn't be meleeing for TP anyway.

But yeah, those are good choices, but don't forget about food too. Ginger Cookies are very cheap and give you hMP+5. There are also some choices with MP+, MND+, and enmity-. I recommend you look into food too. Good luck in your endeavors!

Stats priority for WHM probably goes something like this:

Cure% > Cure Casting Time (Cure Clogs) > hMP > Enmity- > MP > MND

I'll catch some heat for this, but you're a support mage, screw caring about gear until 75, just get there as fast as possible.

With that being said I do miss/remember leveling my first job and being so excited about the next gear set, so disregard myself and the other old crochety players.

Cure Casting Time/Fast Cast is calculated when you start casting - there's no reason to be wearing that gear when your Cure goes off. For Cures I-IV stat priority is:

Cure Potency > -enmity (up to -50) > MND > Haste

And for Cure V:

Cure Potency > MND > -enmity > Haste

I don't really understand why people put things like "-enmity", "hMP" and "max MP" in the same list of stat priorities; that's what gear swaps are for. Why would you ever cast Cure in hMP gear?

assuming you want to pimp yourself out, focus on mp and hmp while leveling. there are a couple of sweet pieces to pick up along the way but you're a bit low for them (healing staff/light staff, nobles tunic, serket ring, faerie hairpin). you'll do people the biggest favor in xp if you keep haste up, learn how to balance cures and rests, and make use of regen. enfeebles are your friend if there's no rdm in the party to cast them for you (slow and paralyze can help a lot). at 75 having a lot of gear sets (fastcast, haste, -enimty, +hp, +mp, +mnd, +hmp) will help you out but while you're leveling as long as you have light staff, dark staff, and nobles tunic you're probably doing really well.

You will get your 2 most important pieces of gear at 51 and 68 as a whm, if you dont have them stop leveling for a bit farm what you can and get them.

51: DO not level without Light Staff and Dark Staff
68: Noble's Tunic

At 70 look into blessed gear for the hands, legs and feet. All have haste to it and Mnd.

Blessed body is also cheap and worth it for Barspells and max MP setup.
