Oh my fucking god you are win! There's no reason to be behind on spells, right? I just gotta sell some moat carp, buy the scrolls, and help the party out by being ready!
My taru ninja makes me a sad panda sometimes ; ;
I'm really confuzzled on elemental magic. There's a bunch of stuff that cancels out and a bunch of elements that opposed each other. I tried searching the wiki for info on this, but I only found "Elemental magic deals DD" which wasn't very helpful.
Can y'all explain some of this elemental stuff? =O ^_^
Woops! I think I found it!
NVM!
(Sorry for the accidental spam)
Only ele dots that cancel eachother out or dont overwite are choke shock burn drown frost and burn. Eelemental debuffs that are strong vs one another(like drown overburn)are cast, it will either overwrite(ex. casting drown on a mob then trying to cast burn, you would get "has no effect"). But if you were to cast Burn first and then cast Drown, drown would overwrite Burn due to elemental strength over it(again water>fire>ice>wind>earth>thunder>fire..etc). Contact me in game already talka, jeez :<
Edit: Bio/dia do the same, but i'd rather not get into those since im not 100% sure how those cancel out etc.
woah wtf is this post doing up here?
Is it just me, or is my reply to the most recent post showing up halfway through the thread?
(seems my browser is displaying stuff all funny <_<)
Ah ok. So the order matters!
I'm gonna memorize the little flow chart I found on the wiki.
I'm worried that I won't initially remember mobs' elements and weaknesses. I'm hoping I don't screw up too much.
I'll contact you in-game in May, since that's when I can play again. (My parents don't want me playing while the semester is dragging along, but once summer hits, I'm free to do whatever the fuck I want).
My sister is joining as Elvaan BLM! (Elvaan)She's super excited! She'll be joining in June, since her classes let out at the end of May.
Celly has been telling you about the two newbies we're recruited, and she doesn't lie - they will both work hard and try to get things right. :D
My sister is a perfectionist, 4.0 student, etc., and my other friend who's joining can get very obsessed, and he hates disappointing people or sucking at things, so he'll do well too. That friend will start playing in May.
Choke Shock Burn Stack, Drown Frost and Rasp stack.
aw Talka, you are precious. I'd help you out lots too if I could :[ Must be a bummer having to wait 5 weeks, but I wish you the best of luck when you get back and I hope you and your friends have a good time! *patpat*
This thread almost makes me want to start a new character.
The DoT of Dia and Bio work in the following order:
Bio III > Dia III > Bio II > Dia II > Bio > Dia
E.g. Dia II will overwrite Bio and Dia, but not Bio II, Dia III or Bio III
You also can't renew the DoT of the same spell until the effect wears off.
Just to clarify, did you mean with Poison and the Elemental DoTs?
I just cast Dia on a Wandering Sapling, and then right again, and it landed both times - or did the second cast not reset the first spell's timer?Always thought the Dia/Bio spells were renewable so long as you cast the same spell, or one farther up the hierarchy.
must wait til they wear if you are casting the same one
Insufficient data for meaningful answer >_> Do you mean that the second cast of the same Bio/Dia spell does not add to the DoT duration? It certainly does initial damage, indicating that it landed.
lol, correct it does not renew the duration of the spell, initial damage still occurs though. If you cast dia, then wait 30 seconds and cast dia again, the 2nd will not overwrite the first, but initial damage does land.
And on that note, you can cast dia with pluto's staff and land it for zero damage to keep a mob from becoming unbound :3
That explains all those years of sub-duration Dia spells. >_<; Thanks, Ryphen, Shaddix. I never stop learning something new about this game.
My friend Bensciguy joined Ifrit today! :D
He's RDM2, and hasn't died yet XD probably 'cause he's hume.Come to think of it, he's doing better than me. I died once by level 2, I'm pretty sure.
He's been researching a lot, so he already knew to check each enemy and to start his attacks with Dia. He's also already bought Stone and Cure with the gil he got from the field manual.
Looks like we have ourselves a good newbie. :D
