Dumb move in my opinion. They don't need a washed up prima donna stealing reps from whatever young talent they have on that front 7.

    Someone hasn't done their homework.

Let's not forget Porter led the AFC with 17.5 sacks last season. Having an experienced rusher that defenses have to respect playing opposite of him will open up even more opportunities.

Washed up? I don't really consider him washed up, just 2 seasons ago he had 11 sacks. Last year he was on a new team, with a serious injury. Not like they'll have him in there a lot either, just mostly obvious pass plays.

He had a bad leg injury that lingered for the entire season. If he can't play at full speed then doesn't it negate the whole point of being a speed rusher? And let's say he IS as healthy as he was before last season, that means we'll probably see him log around 7-8 sacks...

My only question is whether or not that level of production is really worth it in the long run. I'd rather take my chances with a rookie or 2nd year pass rusher in there playing/soaking up knowledge as opposed to taking a chance on Jason.

That's the point of a veteran. You're not taking a chance.

You're also completely ignoring the affect it's going to have when he's used in tandem with Porter. 7-8 sacks + 15-17 sacks. Yeah, in the long run, that's worth it.

Taylor was hurt last year, and the two years before that he was a fucking monster. I'd take a chance on him too. Plus a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins for $1.1 million with $400,000 in incentives, is not alot on money.

No shit. The skins offered him $8.5M to stay for a season.

Not bad for a "washed up prima donna." Maybe the Skins just like to throw money at people who aren't worth it. Or maybe, just maybe, he's a damn fine football player who can still get the job done.

I was upset that they released Vonnie Holliday. Those three together would be a rough trio on Brady's knee.

    ehhhh, ok

Jason Taylor agrees to one-year, $1.1 million deal with Miami Dolphins - ESPN

Jason Taylor danced with the stars more than a year ago, but he sacrificed more than $7 million this year to stay close to his family and play football in Miami.
Taylor agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million deal Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins. The move allows him to stay at his Miami home with his wife and three children. It also allows him to rejoin an organization he considers to be an extended part of his family.
There are $400,000 of additional incentives in the agreement, which Taylor and his agent, Gary Wichard, confirmed was reached Wednesday.

With or without Taylor, they aren't winning more than 9 games or making the playoffs next year.

    1. They have a VERY tough schedule. It is a damn near lock they will start 0-3 in my opinion, and in Vegas'. If Buffalo is very good next year, they won't even stand a chance with their schedule.

    2. The wildcat won't fool anyone this year, and Pat White is sure to make some bad mistakes when they put him in the darned thing

    3. Pennington staying healthy for 2 consecutive years? Don't hold your breathe...

Yeah. I'd have to say that they have the toughest schedule imo.

They're going to need some luck to push for the playoffs this year.

I'm at the hospital typing this from a laptop. She'll probably break her water in the morning and have her sometime in the afternoon. While I don't think it's a "lock" they'll start 0-3, I don't think they'll make the playoffs. As far as Pat White goes, I really don't know how they'll ultimately utilize him, but of course he'll make some mistakes. I just don't think he'll have enough touches to make much, if any, difference.

Jason Taylor for 1.5m is the deal of the century.

Here's the thing. Everybody's saying, "Oh, yeah, the Dolphins will be better this year than last year. But the rest of the division will be waaaaaaaaay better!"

    Really? How, exactly?

The Jets are going to be downright bad on offense. Their "best" hopes at RB AND QB are rookies. Their #2 receiver played in all of 6 games last year, and was not hurt. Sure, their defense is relatively strong, but that simply won't carry them past the Pats or Dolphins.

The Bills... rofl. Final piece of shit of the puzzle, etc. They did "ok" in the draft, but other than that they've just gotten worse damn near everywhere. I may be wrong on this, we'll see, but I'm of the opinion that keeping Edwards for another year is moving backwards.

The Pats get Brady back. They'll be back to being the Pats... but I think the Dolphins are right on par with that now outside of Brady. Perhaps better on defense.

Now, really, 0-3 vs the Falcons, Colts, and Chargers, wtf? You guys forget about holding a healthy LT to 35 yards, and Rivers to a buck fifty, beating them 17-10?

The fact that the Colts at this point have lost basically everything that makes them the Colts other than Manning?

The fact that the Falcons are still the Falcons, after all? They ran for like 50 total yards in the playoffs...

I'm not saying the schedule is not hard by any means. But from the start the Chiefs have it waaaaaaaay the fuck rougher, just the division is pretty bad overall. It'll be tough to pass the Pats, especially with this schedule, but if they're as much improved this year as I expect them to be over even last year, I won't be the least bit surprised if they're at 11, potentially even 12 wins competing for a wild card spot.

I really believe they're moving into the upper echelon this year, and their games against the top teams in the league will be very competitive, and they'll win their fair share of them.

In all honesty, Brady is the Patriots (with Moss) and Manning is the Colts. I don't see why the Fins can't beat the Falcons, but I don't see them beating the Colts, and I just have to feel the Chargers will be a hell of a better team defensively with Merriman out there. Also, I know LT said he was healthy, but I had a hard time believing it at times last year. Maybe he was, and is just on the major decline, but I just don't know.

Also, saying the Dolphins are on par with the Patriots is like... I dunno. I just don't know. The Wildcat with Ronnie Brown won't fool them for a ton of points this time, I can almost assure you of that. They also drafted pretty damned well, and did get a little younger on the defensive side of the ball. The Dolphins won't be in the upper echelon. I'd be willing to put money on that. I can see them going 7-9, maybe 8-8, but no better. They'll be back out of the playoffs for sure. They should finish above a 4th place Jets, and a 3rd place Bills though. I can see that happening.

Also, I do think the Jets will be alright defensively, but I don't see the league worrying about Sanchez (who I think is EXTREMELY overrated), or Clemens. They'll stack the box, TJ won't have an explosive year last year, and they'll finish with 4-6 wins.

The Bills will probably finish with six or seven wins.. that is unless the entire organization implodes on itself due to T.O. and his reality shit.

Edit: Jason Taylor's done after this year, and I do feel I've been majorly trolled. THANKS PLOW

It's all good, I'd have been accused of much worse if I'd said the phins were going to the playoffs at this time last year.

The Patriots dropped almost 80 points on the Dolphins last year without Brady.

The Jets offense might not be explosive under Sanchez, but they have an extremely underrated o-line and their TE Kellen Keller is basically a poor man's Kellen Winslow. You can't blame Cotcherry for having an off year when he was playing with Brett Favre, a QB who doesn't know where he's throwing the ball until it's caught. Plus, Thomas Jones and Leon Washington will be one of the best 1-2 punches next year. Count on it.

I hate the Jets just as much as anyone, but you can't just sleep on them like that. They're a team full of veterans at or near their prime. They're a pretty good team and will at the very least contend with Miami for the 2nd spot in the AFC east.
