I've said it for years.... THE best show on TV. <3 me some PTI.

I think people on both sides of the TK fence are happy w/ this move. As an avid TK fan, I'm happy since this opens the possibility of his radio show returning now that he's not on MNF anymore. That show stinks (stinks).

I'm sort of sad to see Kornheiser go from MNF, I always enjoy listening to him. PTI is his best format though, hands down. Honestly, I think they should just let Jaws and Tirico have MNF by themselves, best play by play and color commentator on TV nowdays.

I couldn't be happier. I like PTI, but I can only take him in small doses. He gets on my nerves so bad. I think it's just the way that he talks. He was ruining MDF for me, lol.

I felt the same way about Dennis Miller, and the other various yahoos that have tried (and failed) to be a good 3rd guy on MNF.

How much of the credit for any of those teams being playoff teams went to the QB?

Ben? 0. He doesn't do anything useful until he actually gets there.
Flacco? A *tiny* bit, mostly just cuz he was a rookie. If a 28 year old qb had that season, we wouldn't even call him Dilfer.
Cleveland qb's are a crap shoot.
Palmer is... I dunno, I don't think he's Cutler quality anymore.

That was my initial reaction as well, but the inconsistency in Cleveland and Palmer's health being a permanent question mark at this point got me thinking in other directions rather quickly.

Unless you're talking from a fantasy perspective...in which case you'd be crazy to take any of those 4 with the possible exception of Rodgers.
Wot? Cutler is a 3rd round pick in any reasonable draft at the worst. The only reason he's not a mid 2nd at worst is the raw quantity of 2nd round quality backs this year.

Favre with the Vikings is a strong pick as well, with a back that will turn dump offs into huge plays on a regular basis like that, and the short fields that ball-hawk defense (which is lately known simply for being a great defense rather than just a turnover factory) creates all the time, the first 8-10 games Favre would basically be a must start.

Did I mention how excited I am to call all my friends in Chicago this December and rub it in when the Bears still suck even with Cutler?
    Oh, I get it lol.

You should like... go watch some game tape of Cutler. The kid is a freak well beyond even Manning level as far as raw physical quarterbacking ability, and he's coming into his own as a game manager.

Put him back there with Forte, and opposite that defense... Bears are very much in the running for NFC favorites.

I believe the Vegas odds atm are like:

Pats > Steelers > Giants > Coyboys > Bears and Vikes tied > Titans > etc

You mean it's a good thing to go from the conference championship game to missing the playoffs after winning 7 fewer games?
Their defense didn't give up 30+ points a game every time they played a halfass decent team in 07.

Opposing teams scored less than 20 in 9 games against the Pack in 07.

Opposing teams scored less than 20 in 2 games against the Pack in 08.

etc., etc., yes, they were smart for getting out of the drama involving a qb that's won 1 playoff game since 03 in which his running back ran for more than he threw for

IDK, the Ravens had them beat 3 times last year until dickface decides to show up and win it for them in the 4th quarter. He should get some credit.

Palmer came out of college as a physical freak, he's just not the same anymore.

Gotta love the consistent reporting on the Favre story being INCONSISTENT. Seriously. If you're going to plow a story into the ground ESPN, at least make sure all of your sources are correct. That's my major gripe with the company; the reporting at times is just fucking terribad. I guess it's also to do with me hating Brett Favre related stories.

And I agree. Palmer's not the same anymore imo due to that injury against Pittsburgh in the playoffs. He was pretty damned good up until that injury go, but since then.. he's had that elbow problem, then the year after the knee surgery that wasn't very good, etc. It's a shame really. He was my favorite USC QB out of the bunch of Leinart/Sanchez/lolCassel.

Let's see, the season immediately following an ACL injury his numbers were:

    Comp pct: 62.3
    Yards: 4,035
    TD: 28
    INT: 13
    Also received Pro Bowl MVP.

Yeah Aki, wasn't very good lol.

2007, statistically his worst season of his career:

    Comp pct: 64.9
    Yards: 4,131
    TD: 26
INT: 20 (It's been a while, I can think of a few that were fuck ups by WRs, but still he had a bad year with INTs)

2008, well his o-line wasn't anything special, and you know teams are stacking the box against Chris Perry. We'll see how he comes back from this elbow injury.

Bengals have been a bad team, but they sure as shit are 300% better with Carson, and I'd only trade Carson for Manning, maybe Brady.

Wow. Holy shit, really? That was a pretty damned good season actually. My bad for being completely wrong then. He's had bad luck with the injury then.

If anything, he's lost the confidence (I won't say ability because I don't want to) to run and throw outside the pocket. But at least he gets injured by getting hit, instead of pulling quads running out of bounds w/o a shirt on.

Hahaha. That was good, and yeah.. I guess I meant I don't see the same fire/confidence in him to run around as before. Now with his elbow wonky, he's had two very important parts of his body get bad injuries. I wonder what his confidence will be like now? Especially without Housh. No matter how big Andre gets, he can't stop everyone.

Carson made Housh. Plus we got Coles who's similar, but a little faster. Carson also had 3 WRs (Andre Caldwell, Jerome Simpson (rookies from last year), and Chris Henry) spend several weeks at his house in CA working out.

Andre Smith will play RT (especially if he holds out through some training camp). They got a gem last year in 3rd rounder Anthony Collins, who played the last few games for Levi Jones, and held up well against Suggs and Freeney.

    Ed Werder Updates Favre Situation
Source: Brett Favre does not consider surgery on torn biceps tendon to be imminent

Contrary to reports, Brett Favre does not have an appointment with Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and doesn't consider surgery on his partially torn biceps tendon to be imminent, according to a source.

Favre discussed surgical and non-surgical options with Andrews last week, as ESPN has reported.

Citing unnamed sources, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Favre was to meet with Andrews on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama, to discuss surgery on his throwing shoulder and that the procedure was expected to be performed later this week.

Favre, however, remains focused on non-surgical options, including cortisone injections and natural movements like light throwing and bicep curls that might cause the tendon to release naturally, the source told ESPN. If the tendon releases and the pain subsides, Favre is virtually certain to play again. If he has surgery and his arm strength diminishes or the pain remains, he will remain retired, the source said.

At 39, Favre believes the less he has to do to correct the problem the better as he believes he still possesses the arm strength he had 10 years ago. The difference now is the injury is causing pain. According to the source, Favre will return to the NFL to play for the Minnesota Vikings if the tendon ruptures and it makes him pain-free. If he submits to arthroscopic surgery and it fails to resolve the problem, then Favre intends to remain retired.

Either way, Favre is losing patience, causing the source to say the shoulder problem must be overcome soon or Favre is likely to abandon his effort to play a 19th NFL season.

Ed Werder covers the NFL for ESPN.
