They just had Childress on the radio here about an hour ago....

    - He denied ever setting a deadline for Favre
    - The Vikings will re-evaluate Favre once he is fully recovered from his surgery

Now here's to hoping all the Chris Mortenson and Ed Werder rumor retards stfu

Childress is trying to mainly due to Favre not wanting to commit and have to attend OTA's and what not. Not to mention the fact that he can't even throw yet so setting a deadline publicly is foolish.

I mean why believe anything Childress says anyway? He denied talking to Favre last year until it came out that he indeed did. Then he denied being interesting in Favre back in March yet again, saying "he believed in Tavaris and that he has no desire to replace him".

Childress is full of shit and merely backpedaling as fast as he can. I recall everyone saying the same thing about these supposed "rumors" when Mort and Werder said Owens was going to be cut and how Owens had beef in the locker room etc.. Coaches are more inclined to spin shit to avoid dividing their team or in a petty attempt to deflect any heat on themselves.

Also if you recall when Werder reported Favre had surgery on his Biceps Bretts's agent Bus Cook initially denied the "rumors". Low and behold he actually did have surgery. Get off the 'stach yo, troubles a brewin'...

Brett will be in Minnesota when September begins no matter what happens and fucking up your chances in the NFC playoffs.

Revenge will only make him look more stupid that he already does.

But why would the team want to give Favre a 1 week deadline if they know he's still recovering from his surgery?

I know they were right about the whole TO fiasco, but I've got to call bullshit on ESPN and this whole "deadline" rumor. It's hard to take this "news" seriously when ESPN has done everything they can to keep their beloved FAVRE UPDATE!!one!1!11 ticker alive... Especially when the NFL Network (and just about every other football site) shot the story down as soon as ESPN aired it yesterday morning.

Deejay hit the nail on the head. ESPN keeps airing this BS to increase viewership and it's sad.

Attracting viewers is different, all I'm saying is Childress has lied about Favre not only twice this season but once last year before he was sent to the Jets. I am inclined to not believe someone that keeps lying about the Favre thing.

Not saying ESPN should be absolved of keeping the story alive, but you guys are making Childress seem like he's innocent and just a pawn in this thing. The Favre issue would go away completely if Childress were to say "Sorry but we are not interested in Brett Favre" and move the hell on.

I mean it's even wearing on his players. Watch and listen to the interviews from the OTAs where the players are sweated by your beloved local press about Favre becoming a Viking

honestly I don't think ESPN has worried about their viewership since the late '80s.

Seriously listen to Stuart Scott talk for 2 minutes and you'll realize we'd all watch if fat bastard was doing SportsCenter by literally using his asshole to talk with the entire show zoomed in on it from 2 inches away.

With a team as good as theirs, and QB's as shitty as theirs... can you really blame them for being interested? Calling Childress a liar in this situation is kind of unfair when he's made it clear that the team has shown interest from the beginning. What more needs to be said?

That sounds a lot better than having Favre stand around in a sling during OTA's while a mob of reporters ask him and the team questions about who the starter will be come training camp.
