ah, didn't realize that. I guess there's the possibility of making the franchised-player trade deal if Pioli is still high on Cassel. If there's any team that has decent info on him aside from the Patriots, it's KC. Their defense is horrid though, so I'm not really convinced he'll be willing to give up those first rounders for Cassel.

Then again, they do have a ton of cap space cleared/going to be cleared this offseason. I think they already have 35mil+ cleared, and Johnson hasn't been moved yet. There's plenty of room in there to grab some free agents, and when Pioli was in NE they filled most of the bigger holes with free agency.


But on the original topic, basically I just don't see Sanchez wearing a Chiefs uniform next season

I tell you what, the boards on the Bengals site have been going absolutely nuts because they didn't tag Housh, which most of us with a brain saw coming after it hadn't happened in January.

But after he said he's had "hamstring" problems the past 2 training camps was actually just because he felt he wasn't being paid enough, I say I won't miss him. I hear the Raiders love them some 32 year old receiver.

Yeah, I definitely didn't see Housh coming back to the Bengals after some of the stuff I've read about the situation lately. I honestly wouldn't know where he'd end up, besides somewhere outside of San Diego (hi 12mil+ in 2 running backs for next season)

Housh is actually good when he has a.. you know.. Quarterback throwing him the ball instead of a horrendous back-up guy that I don't even know.

He needs someone to take the double coverage though. He's never been in a #1 receiver position, so I'm not sure how that'd work.

I wasn't really saying it wasn't any good, just that I know AJ is gonna kill the cap space before free agency ever starts. They're talking about throwing a franchise tag on Sproles, which would take up 6 of the 8mil they have available at the moment. That along with LT's 8mil is just ridiculous

Was more directed towards Headspace, rec. I didn't even think of him going to the Chargers, honestly. That'd be nice to see though, I'll admit. That way, Rivers would have a WR to throw to outside of Gates.

Well the plus side is Pioli is very good at evaluating talent and finding good deals. He also assembled a good core of veterans and saw that succeed. I feel he may use some of his draft picks to pick up some proven talent to go with the young Chiefs team. Mainly picking up Cassel and finding some good deals in free agency.

About the Michael Vick thing. Who out there is crazy enough to trade for him?

Heck, I don't even think the CFL would want him, particularly the Toronto Argos, who signed Ricky Williams after he got his ass suspended for a year and Andre Rison, who at that point in his career was beyond useless.

The only thing I really see wrong with that situation is he basically has to redo the entire defense, along with parts of the offensive line. They've got a shitload of space in the cap to work with, but I honestly don't know who they would keep at starting positions on defense aside from Flowers and Dorsey (only played one season). I think Dorsey's main reason for being able to stay, though, is the fact that releasing him would destroy their current cap, if it's done like the usual contract. Pioli's just got a hole lot to do if he wants that team contending next year.

I highly doubt anybody is going to trade for the rights to Vick, but I don't know why anybody wouldn't at least give him a workout once the Falcons inevitably release him. The Cowboys, Ravens, and Patriots all proved how important having a competent backup QB can be for a team. I don't see him being out of the NFL any longer than he's forced to be, simply because he was a highly regarded QB before the dogfighting thing, and he isn't even close to the age that a QB tends to lose his ability.

Raiders will sign him after they get tired of Jamarcus Russell sucking.

If the Raiders had any other owner besides Al Davis, i'd say your insane. But yea you never know with crazy al what he is going to do/want.

Right now i'm just wondering if the 49ers are going to cut Smith. Ownership hinted at it last year after they moved him to the IR that they wern't going to pay that kind of money to a backup quarterback.

I'd say yeah, honestly. Alex Smith had a moment of time where he didn't completely suck it up, but he's been a bust overall. I'd say the 49ers should go after a QB in the draft, but maybe waiting til next year would be better, as the quality of QBs this year is very limited.

They've still got a decent hold-over QB with Hill if they do wait until next year, so I wouldn't see it as a far-fetched idea. Hill actually put up a few 300-yard games at the end of the season if I remember right.

He did. He's not that bad, but I don't think he's a star-caliber QB. He's a good transition kind of guy though.

I haven't seen Plow in awhile so this won't really rattle any cages, but Todd McShay just laid a verbal beatdown on Josh Freeman, calling him a "poorman's Jamarcus Russel". LOL!

Yeah, I saw that, and that's what my opinion has been since he was built up by a certain someone as a good QB, lol.

I really hate to say he's a bust cause I mean come on, a quarterback in his first what 5 years in the NFL should not have 5 fucking offensive coordinators. I was having a discussion about that with someone else and he said we could have snagged Aaron Rodgers instead, and I think he would have imploded under the same circumstances.

With that said, I think it's time to just hand it to Sean Hill and see if we can draft someone who can be groomed into a quarterback. He's shown he can run the team the last two years now. What do we have to lose from it.
