Fucking ^this^this^this
I was really digging Orton, but you lose him, 2 first round picks and a 3rd AND a 5th?
Cutler isn't worth all that, I'm sorry. He's good, but holy shit, imagine what you can get with those picks, not to mention Orton was really coming into his own towards the end of the season...
Stupid stupid stupid
Well, along my line of thinking, they probably didn't want to wait and see (once again) if Orton would develop into a high caliber QB, they went out and got someone who is already proven.
On the other hand, Orton is a leader, and a winner. He was a team captain last year. I don't think Cutler is that kind of leader, but Chicago has made their bed, now they have to lay in it.
This is me atm

I'd trade Peppers for Orton straight up if I were John Fox.
Nah fuck that, fuck Carolina. I'm a Bronco man this this point on! We need to get Clarett back! Think of the snatch and boozing Kyle and Brandon Marshall can do now? This will work wonders!
Preach it Dimmy! I'm fapping feverishly as im typing this...
If Orton stays, then I get to keep my neckbeard. I hope he stays. I dont wanna shave it off.
Not that it's really significant but the bears got the 5th round pick, they did not give one up.
Bears get:
Cutler
5th round pick 2009
Denver gets:
1st round 2009 (18th pick)
1st round 2010
3rd round 2009
Kyle Orton
Also- The bears just signed Orlando Pace.
NFL-Chicago Bears acquire unhappy quarterback Cutler
30 minutes ago
CHICAGO, April 2 (Reuters) - The Chicago Bears acquired disgruntled Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler by exchanging first-round draft picks in 2009 and 2010 and Bears quarterback Kyle Orton for the Pro Bowler, the team said on Thursday.
WBBM radio reported that Cutler had been exchanged for three draft picks and Orton.
Cutler fell out with new coach Josh McDaniels after word leaked out in February that he had discussed a deal to bring quarterback Matt Cassel, tutored by him in New England.
Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said the team had spoken with Cutler’s agent who had confirmed he no longer had any desire to play for the Broncos.
Cutler, 25, has been absent from the team’s off-season workout programme and snubbed overtures by McDaniels to try and mend the rift.
The former first-round draft pick threw for 4,526 yards with 25 touchdowns and 18 interceptions last season for the 8-8 Broncos. (Reporting by Andrew Stern; Editing by John Mehaffey; to query or comment on this story email [email protected])

Rofl.
Last time the bears traded a first round pick for QB it was a disaster (hi2u Rick Mirer). Chicago is a very unforgiving place for a QB. We will turn on Jay faster then you can say Neckbeard. He better produce even with shitty recievers.
Definately like the trade though.
It sounds like the Bears got a fairly good deal from this. Cutler's still fairly young (25 I think?) and if he can stay at the level he has been since he became a starter for a good 8-10 years, a reasonable length for a good QB, it's gonna end up saving them at least 2 1st day draft picks by not having to reach for a QB.
Now I've gotta pray Orton doesn't succeed in McDaniels' system. I was OK with him until he came into this division dammit![]()
The broncos are probably going to find a QB in the draft. I don't think they really want Orton as their only starting prospect going into the season.
And check this stat: Cutler is like 17-20 as a starter, but he's 13-1 when his defense allows 21 points or less...
sounds like da bears might do big things next season
I'm confused...they don't have Orton anymore assuming the trade goes through. Did you mean Cutler in the first part too?
edit: you changed it again wth D: Disregard this post I suppose
sorry rec, i'm a fuckin ninja sometimes
Yeah. My thoughts on it are as follows. People point to Cutler's 17-20 record and say "He's not proven" but have we forgotten how bad the Broncos defense has gotten over the last three years? They've been terribad, the bottom half of the NFL in terms of defenses. The Bears on the other hand are the complete opposites; eh offense, but a decent-good defense, with special teams.
I like the move for both teams really. The Bears get a QB that can throw for 300 yards in a game like it's nothing. He did it 8 times last year. That's double the amount of times that any Bear has done in an entire year, ever. The Broncos get two First rounders (one this year, one next year) to add on to their first rounders they'll already have, so that's four first round picks in two years, along with an extra third round pick this year. I really, really liked this move on both ends. The Bears just became Super Bowl contenders in my opinion.
Also, losing Orton this year for the Bears is nothing anyway in my opinion as he was already in his last year of his deal in the first place. I'm sure the Broncos will draft a QB in like.. the 2nd/3rd round as the backup, though I don't understand the lack of a chance for Chris Simms. I guess we'll see though on April 25th.
way overpaid, but chicago didn't have a choice if they want to win now. I just wonder how long it'll be before cutler goes emo in the windy city and cuts himself.
Bears gave up way way too much for Cutler. The only QB I'd give up two number 1's for is Brady before his knee injury, and maybe Peyton 2 years ago. They are obviously in "Win SB this year or bust" mode with a deal like that.
I bet Denver takes Freeman with one of their first round picks. Either way.. yay to another Chargers' division title. :D
Aside from the whole Packers aspect, the following sums up how I feel:
The Bears Still Suck
I can see why both teams would make the trade, but it seems pretty obvious the Bears gave up too much. And Denver is gonna turn those picks into someone else pretty soon (Derek Anderson for a 3rd...?).
I might have to fly to Chicago for the Cardinals game now, though, since the game actually looks a bit interesting now.
