Possibly. I think the primary reason CAR re-signed him was to give them a little more room on salary cap. With Peppers fat payday from the franchise tag they had some issues with it.

As much as Jake's contract sucks, this has got to be the reason behind it. Cardinals had to cut 2 extra players today because they fuked up and franchised Dansby, who isn't even a third of the player Peppers is, expecting to sign him long-term. Apparently they didn't realize he is an idiot who thinks he's an elite defender and wants Haynesworth money because next year is uncapped. He absolutely killed their cap space, and now it hurts their depth at CB and OLB, 2 positions they really couldn't afford to be thinned out.

I need to gear myself up for missing the playoffs this year. 9-7 still probably wins the West, but I have a feeling Seattle has 1 last bullet in the gun before they fall apart for a few years.

This is Jerry were talking about here. Judging by Pat White going in the second and what the Fins do with him this season could be a deciding factor in this as well. Mike Leach was right to an extent, the NFL is god awful at evaluating QB talent.
